Yesterday, Apple presented the expected iPhone 13, which boasted a number of interesting innovations. Undoubtedly, the reduced display cut-out got the most attention, but the battery was not forgotten either. Apple drinkers have been calling for a longer shelf life for a long time - and it looks like they finally got it. However, it is necessary to point out that higher endurance exists only on paper and we will have to wait for the official results. But let's compare the iPhone 13 with the older generations of the iPhone 12 and 11 in connection with endurance.
Before moving on to the numbers themselves, let's point out the thickness of these devices, which is of course connected to the battery. The newly introduced iPhone 13 retains the same design as last year's "twelve," the thickness of which is 7,4 millimeters. Despite this, however, the iPhone 13 is slightly larger, specifically with a thickness of 7,65 millimeters, which is responsible for the larger battery together with the new photo modules. Of course, we must not forget the iPhone 11 series with 8,3/8,13 millimeters, which makes this generation the largest in terms of thickness.
Now let's see the values that Apple talked about directly. He mentioned during the presentation that the iPhone 13 will offer slightly longer battery life compared to the previous generation. Specifically, these numbers are:
- The iPhone 13 mini will offer o 1,5 hours more endurance than the iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 13 will offer o 2,5 hours more endurance than the iPhone 12
- iPhone 13 Pro will offer o 1,5 hours more endurance than iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max will offer o 2,5 hours more endurance than iPhone 12 Pro Max
In any case, let's take a closer look at it. In the tables below, you can compare the battery life of the iPhone 13, 12 and 11 when playing video and audio. At first glance, it is obvious that this year's generation has moved forward a little. In addition, all data is drawn from Apple's official website.
Pro Max version:
iPhone 13 Pro Max | iPhone 12 Pro Max | iPhone 11 Pro Max | |
---|---|---|---|
Duration of video playback | 28 hours | 20 hours | 20 hours |
Duration of audio playback | 95 hours | 80 hours | 80 hours |
Pro version:
iPhone 13 Pro | iPhone 12 Pro | iPhone 11 Pro | |
---|---|---|---|
Duration of video playback | 22 hours | 17 hours | 18 hours |
Duration of audio playback | 75 hours | 65 hours | 65 hours |
Basic model:
iPhone 13 | iPhone 12 | iPhone 11 | |
---|---|---|---|
Duration of video playback | 19 hours | 17 hours | 17 hours |
Duration of audio playback | 75 hours | 65 hours | 65 hours |
Mini version:
iPhone 13mini | iPhone 12mini | |
---|---|---|
Duration of video playback | 17 hours | 15 hours |
Duration of audio playback | 55 hours | 50 hours |
As you can see in the charts attached above, Apple has really pushed the battery life forward a bit in the iPhone 13 series. He did this by rearranging the internal components, which left more room for the battery itself. Of course, the Apple A15 Bionic chip also has its share in this, which in turn is a bit more economical and can thus use the battery better. But as already mentioned - we will have to wait a while for real numbers and findings.
- Newly introduced Apple products will be available for purchase at, for example Alge, Mobile Emergency or u iStores
So advertising language with zero benefit
Practically yes. :-) We have to wait a little longer for real numbers. Anyway, sales of the iPhone 13 (Pro) will start on September 24th, so we will know more relatively soon.
