It's been a few days since Komerční banka presented its payment solution using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This function has been expected for the iPhone since the 5th generation. Some Android phones already have NFC. Due to the absence of the necessary chip, Komerční banka came up with its own solution, which consists of a special frame and a Visa card. The contactless payment solution that Komerční banka will offer to clients was already tested in 2011. It is the first ever NFC implementation in the Czech Republic.
The card will need to be inserted into the frame that the company manufactures for the bank Wireless Dynamics, then insert your iPhone 4/4S into it. Unfortunately, for older models, the frame is not and probably will not be compatible even with the new generation of the phone, which should probably have a different shape. With the case, your phone will increase in volume, but at least removing it will be a relatively easy matter thanks to the slide-out mechanism of both parts of the frame.
In order to operate, you need the appropriate iPhone application iKarta, through which you will make contactless payments (it is not yet available in the App Store). For payments over 500 crowns, you will need to enter your chosen pin, but for payments with a lower amount, this step will not be necessary. And where do you apply this form of NFC? Komerční banka mentions, for example, the terminals of the retail chain Globe, fresh bar Mangaloo or a bakery Paul. The list should expand over time, and the bank is also counting on payments via the Internet.
The whole solution will cost you 1 CZK, which is the price for a special frame. The iKarta itself is valid for three years and will be available from August 500. Komerční banka is currently planning to provide the iKart to the first 27 customers who show interest in the card. A similar service for Android phones is in the works.
More information can be found on the special website iCard. It is positive that NFC technology is slowly starting to be applied in Czech conditions as well. When a new iPhone that could have this feature is released, Near Field Communication will hopefully be a common payment option.
Quite a strange solution. Citi offers a card sticker that you can stick anywhere, like on your phone, it's free and works pretty much the same I guess.
There is only one thing to say about that: what do you want from Komercka =-/
Exactly, KB is totally off with this one. I wonder how many people will buy from them.
Be in and send Komerčka to hell :) Their paperwork, certificate and logging in via java drove me away a long time ago and I'm glad for that. This solution is quite unfortunate and expensive…
I don't think it's useless to use NFC technology, it's the future of payment, but carrying your beautiful and expensive phone with a case like that? OH YEAH……
Internet banking KB is not functional on the iPad... (unlike ČSOB, mBank and fake ones that also have their own applications) What do you want from such an "advanced" bank?
I probably have another iPad (2nd generation) but it works the same as on the iPhone. Sometimes it's a tribute to the user. I can't equal doesn't work.
I'm just saying that what I need works, you didn't write anything about the cubes at the beginning. They have a different security policy, so they have certain restrictions. It's enough for me to look at the account and pay, so far I haven't used it for anything else, even on a PC. I'm not arguing about beauty, it's functional (as far as payment is concerned). So if you write "DOESN'T WORK" it's nonsense.
KB should rather focus on proper applications for iGames and not fool around like this. Rather "be in...".
