iCloud is a platform from Apple that allows you to store content, share content and settings across devices, and much more. You can work with iCloud on all your Apple devices, including Mac, and it is iCloud for Mac that we will focus on in today's article.

Downloading App Store purchases to all devices

In the App Store, you will find a relatively large number of cross-platform applications that are available not only for your iPhone and iPad, but also for Mac. So if you want the application you download on your iPhone or iPad to automatically appear on your Mac, you can activate the automatic download of purchased applications to other devices, which works thanks to iCloud. On your Mac, launch the App Store, then click App Store -> Preferences in the bar at the top of your Mac screen. In the window that appears, check the Automatic download of applications purchased on other devices item.

Recover deleted files

If you've accidentally deleted content from apps like native Files, Contacts, Calendar, or even Reminders, don't worry—iCloud will come to your rescue. Enter icloud.com in the address bar of your Mac's Internet browser and sign in to your account. On the main page, click on Account Settings, scroll all the way down and find the Advanced section. Here, select the item you want to restore, select the specific content and start the restoration.

Checking iCloud backups

On Mac, you can easily review and manage your iCloud backups, among many other things. In the upper left corner of your computer screen, click  menu -> System Preferences. Click Apple ID, choose iCloud in the left panel, and then click Manage in the Storage - iCloud section at the bottom of the window. In the window that appears, you can then manage all the backup content on your iCloud.

Activation of the Keychain

iCloud Keychain is a very useful feature that, among other things, gives you access to your passwords and logins across your Apple devices. If you haven't yet activated Keychain on iCloud, we strongly recommend that you do so. In the upper left corner of your Mac screen, click  menu -> System Preferences. Click on Apple ID, choose iCloud in the left panel, and finally just check the Keychain item.

Family sharing

Another great feature offered by the Apple ecosystem is Family Sharing. Thanks to it, you can share selected content, such as shopping, music or movies, with other members of your family. But Family Sharing can also be used to share storage space on iCloud. To enable iCloud storage sharing on your Mac, click  menu -> System Preferences -> Family Sharing in the top left corner of the screen. In the left-hand panel, click iCloud Storage, then choose Share.
