Apple bet on the right horse. The new iPhone 11 pleased many, and the successor to the iPhone XR is very well received. This is also reflected in the amount of pre-orders.

Various sources are currently racing to come up with more accurate pre-order numbers for the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max first. However, they all quite clearly agree on one thing - the iPhone 11 exceeded all expectations.

Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that pre-orders have already beaten initial estimates. Surprisingly, it is also doing well in China, where Apple has rather been losing in recent years at the expense of the local brands Huawei and Xiaomi.

Kua's information is also confirmed by Reuters. Marketers are praising much greater interest in iPhones than last year. The Chinese web portal JD.com then reports an increase in iPhone 11 pre-orders by 480% compared to last year. Alibaba's Tmall platform reports a 335% increase in orders for the previous iPhone XR model.

The midnight green is especially appealing other iPhone 11 Pro variants and Pro Max. On the contrary, the black and purple variants of the iPhone 11 lead, at least as far as Chinese customers are concerned.

Globally, pre-orders are reaching much higher numbers than last year's iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR models.

Pre-sales may not be authoritative

However, analysts warn that pre-orders are not authoritative. Long-term sales will also be important for Apple, as will the resulting Average Selling Price (ASP). This is because events popular especially in the USA, where the so-called Trade-In program operates, reduce this. You bring your old iPhone to the Apple Store and buy a new one against the bill. Such an action increases the total numbers, but on the contrary reduces the actual profits.

iPhone 11 Pro back FB

Meanwhile, Ming-Chi Kuo revised the outlook for total sales optimistically. The original estimate was between 65-70 million units, now around 70-75 million iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max could be sold by the end of the year. However, Kuo points out that a significant portion of sales will be made up of owners of older devices such as the iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPhone 7.

Are you also planning to upgrade this year? And for which model?
