Working from home, or Home Office, has especially enjoyed increasing popularity in recent months. But a lot of people still can't find a taste for this way of working. The biggest problem that people in the home office face is relatively reduced productivity. So in this series, we're going to look at how to maximize your productivity as much as possible and how to be just as productive when working from home.

The right environment is the foundation

The biggest obstacle can be a bad environment. While you are at home, you have the opportunity to jump away from work almost immediately and focus on something else, for example. Since we are used to home offices in our editorial office, I probably speak for everyone when I say that we have all encountered this. The home environment differs from the work environment in several aspects. When you come to the office, you automatically switch to work mode and you won't encounter much reduced productivity. For this reason, it is very important that when you sit down at the computer, you tell yourself that you are now concentrating on work and nothing else interests you.

Removal of distracting elements

You should make your home environment as close as possible to the form in which you have an office, for example. A lot of people don't need a phone at work, which can be described as the biggest distraction. You definitely don't need to have an overview of the Instagram feed and other notifications from social networks while working. In this case, it is best to choose do not disturb mode. But what if, for example, you are expecting an important call? In this case, there is nothing easier than adding the given number to your favorites. Thanks to this, it will not happen that the given person does not contact you and you will be freed from unnecessary notifications.

Environment customization

Every person is unique and no one method works for everyone. Someone is able to switch to work mode immediately, while for others even a switched off phone does not help. But what has worked for several people is choosing the right clothes. Although you are at home and you can work comfortably even in your pyjamas, you should definitely think about whether this is the right choice. When I started working from home, I couldn't concentrate and I had a tendency to keep running away from work. But one day I thought that I would try to dress in the clothes that I normally wear to the office. This change was a welcome help and I really felt like I was at work and simply had to work. But of course that's not all. Nowadays, clothes don't matter to me anymore and I practically don't care what I wear.

Order on your desktop is essential:

In short, a different environment awaits you in the office, which directly encourages you to work. If you don't have space for your own office in your home, you have to make do with what you have. The absolute alpha and omega for the home office would be absolute order on your worktop. So, as soon as you go to work, try to clean your desktop and switch to work mode. A perfect way to differentiate your normal computer use from work use is to change your wallpaper. So there is no harm in choosing, for example, a work wallpaper and switching to it every time you work. A number of utilities can help you with this, which we will look at in the next parts of our series.

And what else?

There are a number of other tips that can help you work from home. We will look at other tips and tricks in the next part of this series, where we will gradually uncover the best options that can maximize your productivity.
