You can connect anything to the TV these days - whether it's an Apple TV, a computer, or even a laptop. In most cases, we connect these devices using the HDMI interface, which is among the most popular nowadays. In the past, you could also use VGA or DVI connectors to connect the image. But how can you connect, for example, an iPhone or iPad to the TV if they only have a Lightning connector (except for the iPad Pro)? We will answer that in this article.
By wire
In case you want to mirror an image from an iPhone or iPad wire, so even in this case you can use it HDMI. However, it is necessary for you to purchase reduction, which one is yours lightning connector will convert to HDMI. This adapter is also offered in its online store Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and it should be noted that you can buy it practically without problems iu authorized dealers. If you choose the original adapter, whose official name is Lightning Digital AV Adapter, so in addition to the HDMI connector, you also get a power connector Lightning connector. However, you can also opt for non-original accessories, which are of course cheaper. In this case, you can reach for similar adapter, which is also offered by Apple (bad experience, I do not recommend it), or you can buy directly special HDMI cable, which has on one connector side HDMI and the second side then directly lightning together with USB powered. There are several options in this case, below you will find links to the ones I personally have positive experience.
- You can buy the original Lightning Digital AV Adapter here
- You can buy the Devia HDMI - Lightning cable here
Wirelessly
If you decide to wireless transfer, so you have several options again. The easiest way to transfer an image from an iPhone or iPad to a TV is if you own one Apple TV. In this case, all you need is your iPhone or iPad let go some video lesson or go to Photos app, where you just tap on the icon Airplay AirPlay can of course be used to transfer images from the whole system, not just from applications. This will immediately start projecting the image on the television to which you have connected the Apple TV. In case of Apple TV you don't own so the wireless image transfer from the iPhone or iPad can only be done if your TV is on newer and supports natively the AirPlay protocol. In this case, just open some again medium on iPhone or iPad, press the icon airplay, and then select yours in the menu television. In case you have old tv which AirPlay does not support unfortunately you have bad luck. Either you will have to take advantage wire with adapter, or you will buy Apple TV or similar devices (eg chromecast), which enables even older televisions to wirelessly transmit images from an iPhone or iPad.
maybe not :))) that is an article worthy of a Pulitzer, how much does Alza pay for this?
Hello, may I ask what is wrong with the article? Thank you :)
Or you can download TV Assist for free from the app store and it will work too... this is how I play movies from my mobile...
Does the author know that the entire iPhone/iPad screen can be mirrored via AirPlay? Not just running videos/photos? According to the article, it doesn't look like it...
Yes, of course the author knows about it, as he uses the mirroring function practically every day. But I will add it to the article, thanks for the warning.
Hello, could I ask how is the sound? Is it possible to have an Apple TV connected via HDMI to a monitor and at the same time via Bluetooth to a speaker? Does "sending" content from the iPad via AirPlay still work, with the image going to the monitor and the sound to the speakers?
Hi, I haven't tried it myself, but it shouldn't be a problem. I often practice that I play a movie/series on Apple TV and stream the sound to AirPods. So I don't see any reason why the sound can't be transmitted to another Bluetooth device :)
Hello, my ipod can't see your LGoled55b9. We have the TV connected via ethernet, then via wifi. Does it have to be on the same wifi or should it work?
Hello, my TV will block videos from YouTube, but it does not want to play my photos.. how does one work and the other not? Thanks for the reply.
Hello, by connecting the DEVIA cable to the TV, my Apple TV from the iPhone Pro 12 does not work. It gives me an error when loading data. Other apps work. Do you have experience with this?
Hello, I am solving a problem with playing Netflix programs via an iPod on a data projector. As I learned to my astonishment, Netflix stopped supporting AirPlay, so it doesn't work wirelessly. So I bought a Lightning/HDMI adapter, but it doesn't work either — more precisely, you can't play original Netflix shows, but you can play non-Netflix shows. Can you advise what to do with it..?
Hello, I have a problem, only sound goes from my iPad Pro to my Samsung TV (2021). Everything is connected
How to mirror screen via AirPlay.
