The responses to our advertisement, in which we were looking for reinforcements for the editorial office, were a pleasant surprise for us. Today we bring you another article from our new colleague Jan Otčenášek.
This is my first article for Jablíčkář.cz. I enjoy watching the happenings around Apple, and as finances and my partner allow, the number of devices with the apple logo in our household gradually increases, and devices with Windows gradually disappear.
But I would like to take it from the beginning and approach the creation of one "mekare" in the Czech meadows and groves, and I am interested in how you started.
Perhaps it is a typical example of the emergence of a new generation of apple growers in Bohemia. I didn't jump directly from PC to Mac, but started first with iOS, i.e. iPhone, its first generation, which I bought at an auction for unchristian money in 2007 from the USA. Back then it was truly exotic. Today, the self-evident touch interface seemed like a revelation, other manufacturers shook their heads and many condemned it to extinction. At that time, few people in Bohemia still had it, and it passed from hand to hand among friends in pubs. For this occasion, I deliberately stuffed several dozen photos of naughty girls into my phone, so my friends got practice in scrolling and zooming in no time.
In 2008, Steve introduced us to 3G, and when it finally came to the Czech Republic, I dug it out of my breadbasket as a business phone. It cost me a lot of effort, but my enthusiasm no longer allowed obstacles. The first-generation iPhone, even with its jailbreaks and history rich in experiences, went into the hands of my girlfriend. She no longer had that kind of feeling for him, and before long the phone recommended itself to her and brought her back to the Stone Age with a Nokia in her hand. She soon appreciated what a piece she had.
I had already fully integrated 3G into my work process, an unlimited data plan kept me online, even though fast data connections were still in their infancy in the Czech Republic. The great navigation from Navigon started to guide me safely on the roads of Europe and ours, even though it used the phone's capabilities really to the limit, and it was very noticeable in the response. Multitasking was still a fairy tale of the future.
I do a bit of music and I like listening to it very much, so the iPhone is also my primary source of listening to music in the car, where I spend long hours. And it was iPhone and iTunes that finally put order in the pile of music stored on my PC. No matter what anyone says, iTunes is a unique tool for organizing music, and anyone who has put in the work, put their collections in order, and learned how to use this program, doesn't want it any other way. I highly recommend the program for organizing music, especially at the initial stage TuneUp, the trial version is free and, if used correctly, will cure that musical mess you have scattered around your disk.
By this time, I had already devoured the WWDC conference, intensively researched the corners of iOS and I dare say used my phone to 80-90% of its capabilities (as a regular user, not a programmer or IT specialist).
I skipped the 3GS, the change seemed small (even though it really wasn't) and I didn't want to invest in it. But 3G stopped chasing new firmware versions and demanding applications, so at the beginning of 2011 it came to the family in its four series and ... I simply didn't have anything better in my hands. I don't take anyone's opinion on phones and mobile devices, but this is simply a piece of iron that is worth the monstrous money. And it's not a pose for me, but a real tool.
I began to gradually expand my horizons and find out what the Americans still have about those Macs. My horizons were widening, but getting a Mac was still quite expensive and I waited until November 2010. And that was the glorious day I got my first Mac. Sic after a long time, but already with a clear idea of the future composition: iphone as the most faithful friend for every occasion, telephone, music player, navigation, corporate, private and band email communication, social networks, etc. + iMac 27 for real work at home - that's that aforementioned first Mac. A great machine in its most powerful configuration (except for the SSD, which I regret more than I would regret a weaker processor). + Macbook Air - I'm still waiting to be able to buy one. This will be my office on business and private trips, in the living room on the couch when I don't want to run to the iMac and my iPhone is not enough, and it will also find use in the band.
The vaunted and sales-busting iPad is not on my agenda. An iPhone is enough for the basics, and it's not enough for serious use, that's why I choose a Macbook Air as my mobile computer.
So I've been familiar with Mac OS X for about half a year and iOS since 2007, so far I'm still enjoying it. What is your history?

I'm in the same situation. In June 2009, I took advantage of the O2 offer and bought an iPhone 3G for CZK 1 - a great deal. And I fell in love with Apple. In August of the same year, I bought a 24" iMac. Since I couldn't afford it, in September I He exchanged the 3G for a 3GS and was satisfied. In January 2010, I bought a white Macbook for the iMac as an addition to the iMac. However, I found that I didn't want to take care of two devices, so I sold both the iMac and the white Macbook and bought a Macbook Pro 15 in June ″. In June, Apple introduced the iPhone 4 and I knew it would be mine. As soon as the carrier started selling the iPhone 4 at the end of August, I didn't hesitate for a minute and bought it. It's simply the best smartphone. Then I also briefly tried the Macbook 17 ″, but that was too much for me to carry here and there every day. At the end of November, the iPad officially appeared in our country, so the Macbook Pro 15″ went out into the world and I bought an iPad and instead of a laptop I bought a Mac Mini. to always have a Mac with me, the Mac Mini went into the world and now I have a Macbook Pro 13″, an iPad and an iPhone 4 and I am happy like this again for some time. Since I use iPhone and Mac as the main OS, I only turn on Widle when I have to .
I have to agree that Mac OS X is an excellent system and I am extremely satisfied. It is fast, extremely user-friendly, the absence of Czech does not matter at all, programs like iWork, iLife are simply amazing and the whole system is simply perfect.
moreover, when the absence of Czech language is approaching! :D it will make all Mac OS X users even more happy…
Quite simply, when moving from 6.22 and Win 3.11 to Win 95, I was quite worried about its stability, although a lot of people lasted even 95 for a long time, I reinstalled them slowly every week (after all, I was a student and it was time to play and explore the corners of the PC ), then I got to Linux and since then I have been constantly trying to switch to this operating system, even though at the time, not much for normal work. Next, NT came out, which were not very suitable for home use, but from W2000 it already worked, even if I skipped them and went straight to Win XP. Then my disk failed and I had the only one with SuSE, which I used for about 4 months (yes, the complaint is shorter, but it depends on who you do it through) and during that time I got relatively used to the system. Unfortunately, it still wasn't the same, at least from my point of view. Today I say the memorable sentence "I just wanted to wash my hair and go", so in 2008 I saw Mac for the first time in a new company and I just thought I'd give it a go and pass. I was a bit afraid of one thing, that I would buy expensive HW and end up staying with Windows, which discouraged me a lot, but I bit the bullet and today I'm always using the same MBP Late 2008 and that's enough for me.
Then I switched to iPhone. From the HTC TyTN II and WM 6.5 it was a jump like from a stump to a Harley, and somehow I'm not complaining, although I recommend Apple everywhere, but at the same time I say: "Apple is not self-saving" it depends on what you want to do and it will/will not suit you even if the last over time, I think that it is also becoming a good gaming platform and attracts game producers (even blockbuster ones, and I'm not just talking about the iPhone)
Otherwise, I like iTunes, both for listening, synchronizing, and cataloging music, but I like Amarok a lot more. It's a fact that I can compile it, but somehow I'm not in the mood to mess with it (even if it's in macPorts) and the 2.x advice should already be Mac Native, but we'll see what Apple comes up with with iTunes, because it's constantly leaking that I want to replace him so we'll see...
It all started for me in 2007 with the purchase of the first generation iPhone. I was mesmerized by this phone and have been hooked on Apple ever since. I have gone through all generations of the iPhone up to today's iPhone 4. In 2008 I bought a 15″ Macbook Pro, which I replaced in the fall of 2010 with a newer, now only 13″ Macbook Pro. Well, this spring I made myself happy with an iPad 2. Since I started with Apple, I managed to convince at least 20 friends to buy Apple products:-)
To date, I have at home: iPhone 4 16GB, iPad 2 16GB 3G White, Macbook Pro 13″, Magic Mouse.
But I definitely don't intend to stop and I hope that more products will only be added
I'm still at the stage where I haven't bought my Mac, but I plan to. Until recently, I also didn't understand what could be so good about the OS that everyone who has it "eats" it up. But then something changed my mind.
In November 2010 I took the plunge and finally bought my iPhone4. I was afraid that I would regret the money, but that's not the case! I really liked the simplicity of iOS. After that, I started looking at Macbooks in stores and it clicked "I'm going to buy THIS". Then I still haven't gotten around to it. I have limited finances (I'm a student). I'm waiting for a summer job :)
So I hope that I will get my Mac one day and add another Apple thing to my house :)
I see it exactly the same, the same student, the same iPhone... I just have it for a longer time and therefore 3G... however, I also grind my teeth on a Mac with a part-time job...
Hon, you speak from my heart :) I myself have a laptop with Win, but I have had an iPod for a long time, a year and a half ago I bought an iPhone 3GS and now an iPhone 4. As soon as possible, I plan to replace the laptop with an iMac, preferably 27″... May I be calm sheep, but simply Apple's approach and their policy suit me perfectly :)
Hi, like most of the current wave of Apple fans in CR, I started with an iPhone 3G. That thread is still subsidized by Czech operators. Then the 3GS followed, now my girlfriend has it, and I bought an iPhone 4. It's really brilliant, I don't regret a single crown I paid for it. And this January, I went to a white Macbook. I bought an older piece through Aukro, but I am mostly satisfied, it sleeps like clockwork. I use notas file only on net and iTunes, so the change from Win was not drastic. But I appreciate that everything is simpler and more stable, everything is very pleasant to use. I'm satisfied, win porad fella
2007 Iphone, imported from USA, I couldn't understand what was in my hand...it was amazing! Last year, I switched from 2G to an iPhone 4 and today I also have an Ipad 1 gen.
But the bottom line is that all the friends I showed the original iphone 2G to now HAVE iPhones - ALL SWITCHED FROM NOKIA, etc. and they wouldn't be able to come back today....
Can you imagine holidays in England where you work hard and don't give yourself the pleasure of buying something extra. At that time ipod nano 2g was flying :) so how else to spend.? I took two. And since then, it's as if the world has changed. Simplicity. Followed by ipod 3g. Step aside. He didn't keep the first black MacBook waiting for him. 13 was enough for the switch, but the aim was the aluminum Pro. Women and phone? Back menu and message search. Once again, Apple did well with the iPhone 3G. Everything was great, but... Time flew and the speed decreased with increasing demands. That's why I didn't hesitate and it's already been a year since I bought a 13-inch MacBook Pro 2010 and an iPhone 4 was a necessary condition for ownership. And then complete satisfaction. There is somewhere on the road to find an ipad and it will be 100 percent. In any case, apple is not for everyone. I have to use widle too. I'll just close it. Why not use something that is made for humans. Apple as an example. But I don't have to convince anyone. They can see for themselves how I feel it. :)
History iP3G>3GS>4. mBP13, ipad>ipad2. I regret most of all the money I put into the ipad and tried to use it to replace the mbp. Unfortunately. It is not possible. Now I'm thinking about an imac 27 or if they release an AIR 13 256SSD with optional 8gb ram and an intel i7-2649M within a month, I'll take that one.
Hello, like the rest of you, I bought my first mobile phone, an iPhone 3G 32 GB, one of the first in the Czech Republic. The phone made me happy until I left for work in the UK where I knew I wouldn't need the phone. In England, I bought a Macbook pro in the highest configuration via eBay in September 2009 (from my point of view today, wasted money, I could have bought the basic one and with the remaining money I would rather buy an SSD). This was followed by a steel iPod Shuffle 3G, for sports, I didn't even miss the controls on the device, I changed the headphones to better ones with an integrated controller. Magic Mouse and then the keyboard. In May 2010, I bought an iPad 64 GB Wi-fi and went to the Czech Republic. I bought an iPhone 4, 32 GB there in September for an aukra, because the operators didn't have it available. An unpleasant thing happened to me, the phone had a bad battery, after 15 hours in flight mode it was discharged to 3% of the battery. So the seller took it from 5 for a claim, which he hasn't dealt with until today :-( The police somehow doesn't deal with it very much and this person cheated several people on the aukra. It's sad that some people can do business like this with impunity...
Anyway, I admire the Mac and its ecosystem and I have no need to switch to Windows. During my student years, I was still digging into something on Windows and every now and then I was forced to reinstall the system. It's true that I don't play with the system on a Mac nearly as much as I used to on PCs.
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a mac :-)
So I'll also sing something like a sheep,)
In 2007, after much research, NTB bought a Toshiba Tecra, at that time I didn't pay much attention to Apple Macs, I just followed the events around iPods, iPhones, etc.
My first product was an iPod Touch 2g 16gb, which I've had for about 3-4 years now, the only thing I can say is the hearing aids GRRR but we all know that :P but the Bose Tri-port replaced them 150%
How time went by in 2008 unibody macbook beautiful machine wOw, the day the new MacBook pro series landed on apple.com so my kittens fell^^ followed by MacBook pro 13″ 2009 my first mac and not even the last current machine MacBook pro 15″ 2010 for work and travel... so one sheep without an iPhone (over time))
Hello,
I bought a MBP 2010 13′ 2,66 Ghz C2D a month ago. Until now, I was not a supporter of Apple, quite the opposite. Price/performance played a role for me, especially in the field of a non-mac machine.
I was a Win user until now Linux Caldera. I think it was 2003?
Otherwise, the purchase of this machine was also helped by the fact that the new MBP line arrived and the old one lost a lot of weight. so that day I ordered and to this day I find more and more things that fascinate me.
Especially the fact that MAC works on Unix, which is close to my heart.
PS I don't have any other Apple products.
"It" started with the 3GS. Half a year after comparing the displays with the iP 4, I couldn't go back to the 3GS. I started seriously thinking about Mac when my month old Vaio started to annoy me - three times in a row in a repair shop in Germany, three letters of apology with a cloth... At that time I was deciding between MBP 13″ and 15″. In the end, I chose the basic 15″ version, with the provision that I would immediately install W7 there.. This has not happened to this day (the programs were replaceable + MSO), Mac OS X grew to my heart - so I became an apple sheep in perhaps the least numerous herd .
I feel almost like a lot of out when I was interested in Apple already in the 90s, when from time to time a Chip supplement was published (I think) about Apple computers. It was also around this time that I saw a Macintosh for the first time and had the chance to play with it. For financial reasons I stayed with the PC platform and I bought my first iBook G3 in 2003 I think. It was older but worked great and I believe it still works somewhere. Then came the new G4. The warm relationship with Apple deepened. For various reasons then a short return to PC, but since 2009 I have owned a MacBook Pro 17″ again, I use it as a personal tool and I look forward to turning off Widle at work and turning on MacOs at home. I also have an iPod for the car and for sports - maximum satisfaction. I don't think I would use an iPad, but I'm looking more and more for an iPhone. The reason why I don't have it yet is because I have a mobile phone from my employer and therefore a private one would be a toy for free time... but I'll go for it anyway, it's irresistible and it's stronger than me!!! :-))))
I had my first iPod (classic) already in the 8th grade in elementary school, when I got it for my birthday on vacation in Australia. Then followed iPod Touch 1st generation 16GB -> iPhone 2G 8GB -> iPhone 3G 16GB -> iPhone 4 16GB + MacBook 13″ White my old 3G is used by a friend from my sister and I currently have an iPhone 4 and a white MacBook... in the future I would like to go to another iPhone or iPad…
and now you are in the ninth grade? ;)
So my "switch" was very similar to the one described above. In the winter of 2007, I bought my first iPhone and a year later my first MAC. Until then, I considered application crashes, reboots, annual re-installs of the system and the regular pop-up window "the program has performed an unauthorized operation and will be terminated..." as something normal. Until Apple showed me that even a computer can really work for several years without the intervention of an IT expert. I don't get angry at the keyboard anymore, I don't call technical support and I don't look in the manuals to find out how to connect the Vistas to WiFi... it's just cool. Yes, I am a sheep happily grazing... :-)
so I'm already such a sheep that I wrote a few lines here about how I got to Apple and then I didn't even manage to publish it, obviously...! :D
Hello everyone, today is the big day when I go to get my first iMac. I'm shaking :-)
I, like my colleagues here, live by ICT. 12 months ago I had a DELL Vostro laptop, a 22″ HP LCD, a Logitech mouse and keyboard and a Nokia phone on my desk. I backed up to an external drive whenever possible. Today I have an Apple MacBook Pro 13″, an Apple Cinema 27″, an Apple BT keyboard, a Magic TrackPad, an Iphone 4 16GB, and I back up to a Time Capsule 1TB using Time Machine (at home, an iPad 1 32GB for entertainment). I run Windows through Parallels Desktop. It cost an ungodly amount of money and it was only because of what I do that I was able to purchase this equipment. But I can responsibly say that from my point of view it was worth every penny. Those who haven't tried it won't believe it.
iPod Mini 4GB (2004/5? - at a time when 512MB players were the greatest luxury) -> after the 2nd and then the 3rd complaints, they all broke :( I used it until about 2006, then a break of about a year and dozens of cheap ones MP3 players
end of 2007 – iPod Classic 80GB – back then it was a big hit – although it was the 2nd piece after a claim, but I still have it, it was on strike a few times, the charger for a while, then it looked like a disk, but in the end a simple restore solved it :)
iPhones were beyond me, they seemed overpriced, they had a lot of errors..
Now in March 2011 MacBook Pro 13″ i5 (2011) – I realize what a mistake I made when I skated between many brands, be it phones, players, computers, PDAs…
so I see it on an iPhone for the foreseeable future (probably waiting for the new one)
and then probably the iPad2, I will eventually replace the MacBook Pro with a powerful iMac and MacBook Air, but that is now taboo, given the lack of space and the need for mobility.
So it started with an iPod Classic 60GB. I simply wanted a collection of music to take with me on the road, and there was no other solution at the time. Then came the iPhone 3G, it was the only one that could be bought from the operators with a subsidy at a decent price, since then the prices have been unaffordable for me, that's why I still use it, before also for gaming :-) today only for phone calls and navigation because the iPad arrived the first generation, and it plays completely differently. And in the end, this year I ended up with the sale model MacBook Pro 13″ and I'm glad for it :-) it will be used for everything else that the iPad can't handle... So, I'm done with apples until the iPhone 4 gets cheaper, which will probably take a while :-(
It started for me two years ago, when I bought an iPod touch 2g, it got me so much that a year later I bought an iPhone 3GS, followed by an iPod shuffle, a Nano 5g, and now I have a new touch 4g. I'm going to buy an iPad 2 in the near future. I like Apple products a lot, but they eat up a lot of money :D
3gs>4>ipad2
I'm planning an air when the new model comes out.
Intuitive service - great. iTunes - stupidity of the first category that leaves no impression of everything as a whole. Why can't I take a folder with photos from the PC and throw it into the iPhone 4? Why do I have to synchronize the advice pointlessly? Why, when someone sends me a video by email, 99,99% of the time I don't watch it? Why why why? Itunes is stupid, which turns the iPhone into a device that can afford to synchronize a miserable percentage of people. The iPhone itself is flawless and easy to use...
But it's not iTunes' fault at all! :D
iTunes stopped stopping me even after switching to a mac. They are half price on wines. New photo in aperture, new album or advice? After another sync everything in iphone and ipad. No more pulling one by one and wondering if I have it on my mac, iphone ipad or where and if I have already put these photos there. If two years old raws that I edited, I threw them into the device again, etc.
My history with Apple is more direct and longer because I work in DTP. In 1992, after returning from the war, I no longer wanted to be a THP worker in the printing house where I was employed, but I was enchanted by the emerging DTP - at that time on Macintosh Quadra 950 computers, which at that time cost an incredible 250 CZK. I couldn't last at that printer, I moved to a private studio, where I experienced all sorts of evolutions, such as the transition from Motorola processors to Power PC, from System 000 to 7 and, for example, Photoshop 8.5 to version 2. In another studio, over the years, I met with Power Computing Mac clones up to the groundbreaking Mac G4. In the meantime, the system reached version 4, it was written in the year 9.2.2. Since then, I have had my studio, I have both a Mac Pro and its predecessor, the Power Mac G2000, which serves only as a server, as well as an iMac and a 5′ aluminum PowerBook G15 , which has its best years behind it, but it is more than enough for the Internet and some writing of e-mails or documents. I put a G4 QuickSilver in the children's room, which was also once my workstation. I also went through all the systems except the original 4. Of course, I also have an iPhone, I missed the first version, I was waiting for the official launch of the 10.1G version. Since my phone cycle is about 3 years, I skipped 2 GS and only got version 3 to extend the contract. And the conclusion? I grew up with Apple, I'm used to it, it suits me and I don't want anything else. Of course, I also tried Windows, but the constant harassment with various messages about unused icons on the desktop, or the impossibility of installing anything simply with one click - printer, network connection, etc. convinced me that Win is simply not for me.
Apple cheated me back in 1992, when my father gave up the 486 with Corel and replaced it with a Macintosh IIvx with Adobe Photoshop 2.5, Illustrator 3, Quark 3 :-). For the first time in my life, I saw a high-quality, smooth video on the monitor... It was the famous commercial from 1984 :-) And since then I have been a "sheep" :-). The PC stayed at home, but only for writing text and playing games. From the II vx it was later upgraded to a Power PC 7100/66 which I later owned and used for a very long time... I even upgraded it with a NuBus G3 card. I ended up replacing it with my first fungl new mac G4 mirrored drive. And now I am the proud owner of an iMac 27″.
But I never gave up the PC and that for one reason - games.
Sometime around that time, I also started looking for smartphones and the only decent device that looked decent, combined GPS and phone, SD cards, etc., that really interested me was the Pocket PC Mio A701. Nice machine. After about 6 months of use, the first iPohne appeared. But he didn't really impress me with his equipment. I didn't want to give up GPS and SD cards. PPC lasted me until the arrival of the iPhone 3GS. I originally thought about upgrading the PPC to the HTC HD2, but ended up buying an iPhone on a whim. And I know that it will be very difficult to exchange it for something else. Unbelievable relief from WM. You can't imagine the hundreds of wasted hours spent tuning WM. And suddenly such comfort and peace. After the release of the iPhone 4, I sold the 3GS on ebay for €390 and bought a new 4. And I will do it like that every year :-)
I don't want to bore you with what I have or don't have at home, but I have to add a little to the second bowl of scales. So I'm one of those (apparently a minority here) who made the transition from PC -> Mac without any intermediate element in the form of purely consumer electronics from Apple. I have never owned an iPod, nor do I have any iOS devices. I was currently thinking about an iPad, but it will probably happen when Apple offers a better display resolution. I am also looking at an iPhone. I'm just a little sad that today Apple is mainly driven by this consumer rather than computers, which in my opinion do not deserve to be in the shadow of fame. Exactly opposite. The Mac got me so excited that I really regret my Windows years. Just iOS devices are good, but they are still "just" mobile toys. However, the elegance and simplicity of OS X won me over, and it's admirable for a "big" desktop system. And what kicked me for Mac? When trying to buy a PC notebook, it was mainly repeated disappointments due to incompleteness, lack of thought and problems (cooling, defective pixels, display quality, plastics, processing, etc.). And what to do with a laptop that pleases you with a blue screen on the first day, sometimes it doesn't wake up, sometimes it doesn't sleep, and it takes a long time... just Windows and a laptop, thank you, please. In short, it all resulted in absolute resignation. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and unfortunately even the not-so-inferior PC notebook manufacturers don't seem to offer me what I found with the MBP. In addition, there is added value in the form of a perfect harmony of HW and SW, to which no one offers an equivalent today. Interesting comment: detepak ... thanks for it.
Hello. Well, I belong to the group of Applaks who have known this company since its inception, so you could say that I grew up with the dream. My father and his friends bought one of the first Macs, which at that time cost several hundred thousand crowns, I personally did not get to do that as far as I can remember, but I grew up mostly on a Mac G3 for several years. I didn't really like Apple back then, partly because I was small and I just wanted to play games, and at that time it was very difficult partly because I had the urge to oppose my father and constantly tried to refute why mac is not better than win. Well, he was always right :) and I had to admit it even though it irritated me a lot. In the end, I got a PC with Win, which I still have after continuous upgrades. When the first iPhone arrived, I bought my first sony erricson for synchronization, but to my disappointment it was not as great as I had hoped. Although I liked the iPhone 3g, even the 3gs was still not the same, so I was waiting for the new IP4. when I saw it at WWDC I knew it was the one and I would have it. At the moment I have ip4 satisfaction is at its maximum, I plan to get a macbook air when the new version comes and I have the funds for it. Since I've mostly grown out of games and rarely play them with friends, I know that it's "real nuts". It is very important to determine the priorities for what a person wants to use the device for and since I want synchronization (because on Win it is a disaster, itunes is good enough for nothing, iphoto does not exist on Win, calendar, contacts and notes, I probably don't even need to comment on this), internet and movies. The new air can do it all with a margin and it's ultra portable and beautiful :).
Finally, I would like to mention two friends.
One of them bought some new, inflated win laptop and at first he was completely satisfied with everything, now it's been about three-quarters of a year and he keeps cursing what an ass he did, even then I recommended him a macbook pro, but he wouldn't let me tell him and now he's regretting it.
A friend of mine also wanted to buy a similar laptop, but I talked him into a macbook pro. At first, I had a lot of problems, which I wondered about, and my father also just asked how it was, maybe it froze at the beginning, and we also solved something with the cable, because my father has a macbook and in about 6 years he had to restart it maybe 3 times, otherwise it runs without problems and without a single reinstall, and there are dozens of applications for work and entertainment, etc.., but in the end everything was solved :) just some error came up. No complaints were needed, and now when we meet he tells me how glad he is that he took my advice, that something nice always surprises him, etc. I haven't even installed Win there yet. even so, he somehow misses the absence of games and so on.
I just wanted to say that whoever tastes apple products will not leave them, I follow my father's motto "I'm not too rich to be able to afford to buy cheap things". It may seem to some that we are apple sheep, but I am being judged by people who have probably never tried apple, and if they did, they did not know how to work with it and did not have the opportunity to appreciate its benefits, because I think that a person who can do this would not consider us sheep.
Hello, my history is almost the same, except that I started with an iPhone 3G and, like you, went up to an iPhone 4. In the meantime, I couldn't resist and bought a MacBook Pro 13″ and I've been happy with it for more than a year . I'm grinding my teeth to expand my "apple orchard" with an iMac 27″. I'm rooting for you in your passion, I've also become a sheep in a good sense of the word. My girlfriend understands me, despite the grinding of her teeth. Good luck to Apple.. :-D
Every story is different, so I'll add mine. Five years ago, I bought a car - a Mercedes B-class, which as a nice gadget offered the possibility to connect an iPod via a system cable, and the iPod display was displayed on the center panel of the car and controlled by buttons on the steering wheel. So I bought my first, then 60GB iPod and I was hooked. In half a year, a 27″ iMac, in a year the first jailbroken iPhone from Germany. Then I quit my job and lost my work bag so I immediately added a white MacBook and never saw the pitchfork again. I delivered an AirPort Extreme station, then TimeCapsuli upstairs, a new iPhone generation every autumn (I give the old one to my children, the first generation still works). He doesn't have an iPad, but that's what happens when you're addicted. I understand that some geeks will find the closedness of the platform limiting, but for the rest of us, apple is the perfect choice.
That's right - Pavel got to Apple through Mercedes, I got to Apple only out of snobbery - I simply chose the most expensive phone in 02. I have to admit that if the iphone3gs wasn't the most expensive, I would never have bought it. Here I am caught by the quality of the display and control. Alas, it works just like win. I just don't have a Mac, but I don't believe that a system other than Win doesn't crash...
For graduation MacBook 2,4 Black, a while later iPhone 3G, then the first Unibody MacBook, then exchange for MacBook Pro 13, 2,53, it didn't last long and there was a change to 13 2,26 and iPhone 3GS. Then the iPad came out, ordered immediately from pre-orders from apple.com, it was here on April 19, and the last MacBook Pro was repeated and the iPad + iMac 21,5 was introduced, and the iPhone 4 was added over time.
Starting a new job in August and immediately a new MacBook Pro 13, 2,4 with OCZ Vertex. But that didn't last long, a new job and the latest MacBook Air, 13,256GB, the stylus is nice, but I finally got over it and finally bought what I always wanted: MacBook Pro 15, 2,2GHz i7, I've had it for two months and still I don't understand how it's faster, and who else of course needs an iPad 2, yes, and the Apple TV2 is also a great thing, and I'm not even talking about the Time Capsule.
I'm another prime example of an apple orchard :-) , but I also go with my wife :)
It started with Ipod Touch, then followed by Iphone 3G, then it went quite smoothly, Iphone 3GS, Ipod classic, Ipod Nano, 2x Iphone 4, 2x Ipad, 2x Macbook Air. Just an orchard full of apples :)
I had something similar.
The first Apple product was the first generation iPod Nano with 1GB of memory :)
Although I didn't like the iPhone, it was a big heavy cow in my pocket... But when it appeared under the tree, I was incredibly looking forward to sliding it with my finger :). And time went on. Little by little I learned the magic and tricks of iOS. I dare say that I am familiar with iOS as a user. And that's how it started. My dad brought me an old iBook G4 for my birthday, with a PPC G4 1,33Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. It was a shock to me! After some time, iLife '11 was released, which required a Mac with Intel. That was the turning point. I got my hands on a MacBook. 2×2,4 Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, 250GB disk. Incredibly fast. I used it for less than half a year. Suddenly, a pure blow from the sky. I was offered a MacBook Pro. The set is slower on paper, 2×2,26 Ghz, same RAM, 500GB disk. But speed, graphics, trackpad and display.. bomb. Today I have a Pro and an iPhone 3G. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Looking forward to OS 10.7 :).
Thanks for the surprisingly many responses from the apple community to the introduction, we had a nice introduction to each other. It's good to see how others are doing, I'll look forward to the next time.
Well, I take it almost as a duty when there are so many comments :) and since I was also promoted as a new editor, I think that people should have the right to know what it is about me and my connection with Apple :)
Hello,
I started a year and a half ago with a Macbook Pro 13,3″, an iPhone 3GS and a year and a half ago, then there were some Macbook upgrades to an SSD drive and 8GB RAM, and two weeks ago an iPad2. And I'm already really looking forward to the iMac, but I don't really need it for the terrible money, I'm happy now :-)
and I forgot that a month ago I exchanged the iPhone 3GS for the HTC Desire HD (I wanted to try something new and that Android), but a week ago the iPhone 4 arrived and the HTC flew away... And the 3GS can no longer be praised by my girlfriend :-)
It is positive for Apple that 3g and 3gs are not sold in most cases, but remain in families. It is inherited as a family jewel.
I think that if it weren't for the iPhone, only a really small handful of people would know Apple.... The iPhone will have a place in the annals of the phone. It was a revolution, and it's interesting that even when the iPhone tries to copy some giant (samsung), nothing happens - sales go up, prices go up... Imagine standing in line for some samsungs - that would be comical! And especially SCIFI.
It was the beginning of 2009 and a friend was crazy about apple. I hated those words until he once showed me how versatile the iPhone can be used. As an entrepreneur, having a phone, email, navigation, pdf, word, excel, google, and a translator with me non-stop helped me in making decisions, plus games while waiting for my girlfriend in the sentence "in 5 min. I'm down” :). After the 3GS I noticed the macbook air 13 inch. to open and work in an environment that I'm drooling over even after half a year is the most wonderful thing in the world. Remember when you went to turn on the "window" and spun around on the stool while waiting??? my best investment.
Please, the article mentions a program called TuneUP. I like it a lot, but I would also appreciate a free version of a similar application. Anyone recommend? Thanks
Hale, I looked for her a year ago and she wasn't there. I ended up buying the program.
I don't know of a similarly good free alternative. In the future, an article about TuneUp may also appear, and it should help someone in deciding whether to invest in it or not.
I highly recommend the multi-platform MusicBraniz Picard works with an open database of MP3s created gradually by the MusicBrainz community and can identify mp3s by hash and only by their content.
Cesna: just to clarify - there was no iPhone 3G with 32GB of memory.
otherwise I have an ipod touch 1g, an iphone 3g 16GB, two ipod shuffles, a macbook 13" aluminum late 2008, mighty mouse, magic mouse, apple in-earphones.
Plans for the future are: imac 27", macbook air 11,6" and "iphone 5", possibly an ipad as a toy :)
Windows disappeared from my life almost completely.
It started with my iPad. In May 2010. I bought it in Geneva on a business trip. The iPhone followed in November because the experience with the iPad was phenomenal. I'm starting to be tempted by an imac or macbook pro.
Have a nice day… It's nice that many people feel the same way :-)
For me it was an iPhone 3GS, followed by the purchase of several iMacs (I have them for personal and work purposes), my girlfriend gave me an iPad for Christmas, I bought an AirPort Express, an Apple TV, a lot of accessories and I even have a battery charger from Apple :-D Over time, the girlfriend switched from Nokia to the right side, she owns an iPhone 4 and is now considering a Mac Book Air. As I write this post, our one-year-old son is vehemently demanding my iPad, on which I'm typing, and I'm thinking that he's the only one who doesn't have an Apple toy - although who knows - maybe it won't be long before diapers will have a small bite-sized apple instead of the Pampers brand ... Oh, and if there was toilet paper from Apple, I'd buy it too because it would definitely be "cool" :-D
Jesus, I wrote "thinks" with a soft "i" - well, well, I'm not as good as "apple" :-D
Ipod—-Iphone—–MB pro :)
So I've been with apples since 1992, when the uncompromising Josef Kudláček bought the good old black and white Classics for the editorial office of Český deník :-) Even then I had a handle, because Herbeck was once again in power in Stratosféra and he won't allow apples. I know what a problem it was when I switched to another publishing house that went PC and Woknech. But then I bought a notebook - first an ibook, then a macbook and finally a macbook pro, and I still have it in several variations. I don't have a desktop, this off-road all-metal beauty is enough for me, and if I can recommend it, it's better than the Air - and the price for a 13" is around 27 today, which is not bad. And finally, the iPhone came, the best mobile phone of my life. However, I have to limit myself when it comes to music, 000GB in 8G is not enough, so I'm planning an iPod classic, 3GB will fit iTunes with notes and there will still be plenty of space :-) I have Tune Up, but I don't want the paid version, order in the library I do it myself, including downloading artworks from google and betting via apple :-)
Don't drive a Macbook for free as a winner in a competition - this gave me a glimpse into the world of Apple. Then iPhone 3G, 3GS, i.e. iPhone 4, AppleTV, Time Capsule, plus the AirDrone from Parrot, and after the upgrade I will probably go to Macbook Air. I would like an iPad, but it's just a bigger iPod, which lacks wider connectivity with the surrounding world.
cheers, I can hear how everyone started with uFoun. On the other hand, for a long time it seemed impractical in my hand and, in addition, overpriced (I still feel that way now), but in the end I succumbed and bought it :). And that's because of compatibility with other apple-things. That's a pretty big advantage that Apple benefits from, by the way. All their machines, devices, toys, gadgets are perfectly compatible and matching in design...
And my path to true faith? I was looking for a light, aluminum, indestructible laptop with a long life for constantly dragging with me (ie 13 inches, tested more or less, 12 is a slouch and 15 is a beast). I got better quality HP with Win or 3 times more MB Pro13 with a perfectly tuned user-friendly system based on Unix. Since I work on Unix, these were valuable points for MBPro. So it was decided. Well, to be honest, after unpacking and turning on the mbpro, my chin dropped. "wooow" that hardware was a masterpiece and in hindsight I can say that the HP really beats it for the same price. light, excellently processed, still snorts like a crack even after a year.
I gradually developed a compulsive feeling to purchase perfectly fitting, but overpriced components such as a wireless mouse + keyboard, and recently AirportExpress... and because of the perfect synchronization and display in DVD, it will distinguish even the overpriced iPhone. Well, I have everything Apple, I'm lost...
2x Quadra 800 -> Umax Pusar + Umax Apus -> G3 ->G4 ->G5-MB PRO… Meanwhile iPhone 3G and then iPhone 4. I have no use for iPads.
Those were once heroic times. Breaking up Novell Netware with Quads as clients was more than a week of work and study. Today, it's a funny and horror memory of the time when none of the "experts" knew anything and Mac was almost a dirty word.
So I started (if I remember correctly) in 1993 - a Centris 650 - a German brought it to Ústí nL, along with some other machines of that time, that he would make a game magazine and we would all make money - but somehow it didn't work out for him, he gave up in front of the authorities to which he registered us, but he could no longer send money, but Centris left me with unpaid wages for half a year. Well, and then it already worked through different machines until today (MacBook and iMac 27″ and some iOS).
I have become a "sheep" too and I am not ashamed of it at all. On the contrary, I am proud of it. It started one spring evening in 2009, when I was going through the offers of the t-mobile operator, where I had my number on a post-paid plan and the contract extension was coming up, and the original phone was terminating the service after about 5 years of use. The offer was interesting especially around the iPhone 3G (CZK 1200 + 24-month contract with payment of CZK 1200). The very next morning I was at the nearest t-mobile store and in about 30 minutes I left with my first apple device. A year later, t-mobile changed the terms of the tariff and I was clear, I will get off t-mobile's leash and switch to vodafone without penalties and I will have more interesting conditions.
Since I make a living as a programmer, I immediately started researching how to write programs for iOS devices. The first attempts revolved around getting OS X up and running on a PC. After about a month of tinkering, I managed to install OS X on my work laptop. But I quickly abandoned this and bought a MacBook white, because working with OS X on a PC is not as simple and natural as on a MAC. It's not a cannon, but it's enough for simple application development, and when the desktop PC goes away, the only choice will be an iMAC. Apple's operating systems are unrivaled.
At work, I program Windows applications and work on windows, but if I had to choose, I'd rather go for the MAC solution. Because I know it will work without any problems.
I don't consider myself a sheep, because I didn't buy Apple things thoughtlessly and just for the brand, but because it suits me as much as possible and I don't know anything better on the market right now.
It started in 2008, when one of my former roommates used an iPhone and occasionally lent it to me when I needed to make a call or text. With every touch of that phone, I fell more and more in love with it. I didn't understand how a new phone could get me so excited, everything was so intuitive and I knew right away. The phone definitely won me over, but the price was high and I hesitated if it was worth the money. In 2009, I bought an iPod Touch from the US through a friend's dad to try daily iOS use, and after some time of trouble-free use, I bought an iPhone 3G a year or so ago, and I'm very happy with it, even though it's no longer able to run sw.
Otherwise, as for the Mac, I've been going around Apple stores for some time now, I've tried it, touched it, and I have to say that these are great things and I want a Mac house as soon as possible. I have an old eMac with OS X 10.5 lying around on my desk, I really enjoy that system and where Widle is messing with it. I'm planning an MBA 11″ over the holidays and an iPhone 5 sometime in November.
mac user since 2001. (PowerBook G3) and that's it. apple is struggling more and more. after 7 years I also canceled mac.mail / mobileMe. everything is zebra every year. everything. even the macbook pro (santa rosa) was less noisy than the current macbook pro! sometimes it was different. sometimes there was an effort to do things well. today the effort is only to collect idiot-user= money. since the arrival of the iPhone, he only looks at the numbers and throws crumbs-embarrassing update. nothing proper. just rest on your laurels...
and now you are in ninth grade?
why are you all writing this here?? nobody cares..
I think some people like me are interested in it, if you are not then just don't read it and don't post stupid questions here.
Mr. Pessimist, on the one hand, you're right that the quality has decreased compared to the past, but that's because it's growing very fast and it's just not enough, but the quality is still much higher than widle. and overall, as far as quality is concerned, it is one of the best companies! and if you also have an opinion, buy Widle... you pretend to be some great expert, but you don't even know apple from scratch like some others, so don't pretend to be the smartest, because your style sounds like that and most people, including me, don't like that style contributions.
Your style sounds like you can't accept someone else's common opinion that differs from yours or others. Dear Cabi, you don't have to be super intelligent to have the same opinion as me. Yes Yes. quality over quantity. Apple changed their philosophy so quickly. you didn't even have to talk about the wisest and great expert. let's start bowing to each other... and learn to read things not like attacking insults, disrespect and underestimating others. Apple's popularity is drastically decreasing among Mac users. not among fan boys.
I actually think that a lot of "old-school" macs have a hard time bearing the fact that macs are no longer only for the elite, but are becoming a consumer product. Actually, all the drivers dreamed about it (beating WIN).
Very good article :).
I switched to iOS this year, in January I started with iPad 1gen, and this weekend with iPhone 4. I have to say that both devices are perfect.
Before the iPhone, I had an xpera x10i with Android, but... plastic display, unresponsive to wet hands, outside, when you're waiting for work and breasts, you want to send an SMS, but you simply can't unlock the phone with wet hands, disgusting design and Android system like nothing much.
The iPhone charmed me at first sight. Great display, present glass, solid and perfectly aligned construction, gives off a real impression. At this moment, I wouldn't wear anything else (that doesn't have a bitten apple in the logo) at all.
The iPad is excellent for coffee in the morning, for lunch breaks, or when I'm with the secretary at the client's place, so she comfortably writes on it. And no one tells me that the iPad is not good for work :)
Last year in September, I finally stopped enjoying senseless error messages, and I gave Windows one last chance by upgrading to 7 for 2 thousand - wasted :/. I bought 2 Apples at the same time, a basic MacBook Pro 13″ with a student discount from iStyl and after 2 years with HTC Diamond I switched to an iPhone 4 32GB bought on Aukra. It was a very brave purchase for a high school student - 50 thousand isn't just that :), I guess I was a fool to stay :D, but since I'm in business, it's "just" a few big deals of work for me, not even 4 months in Mekáč full-time - I certainly wouldn't "kill" 4 months of my life this way XD.
And the experience after about 8 months? I want to point out that I am not an Apple fanatic, I did not understand Apple for a long time and did not recognize its iPhone under the 4K version. However, in 2011, Apple has no competition for me. His journey of simplicity, functionality and precision totally got me. Abosultely awesome! I never want anything to do with Microsoft again - unfortunately I have to use WLM to communicate with China and now they force me to Skype :/ which is my number one communication. In order not to praise, I will mention a few shortcomings, which, however, do not affect the work at all. After a while, the back part of my MBP started to get very hot, unfortunately the endurance is now nowhere near 10 hours, and the disk rattled strangely at the beginning, but everything should probably be resolved by complaints in the case of more serious problems.
Now in the next few weeks I will be buying an iPad 2 16GB WiFi (for an average high school diploma :) ) for fun in bed and on the sofa and simple work in the field, the MacBP is too heavy to carry around everyday :) - samples web. websites, work with iWork, etc., so hopefully this precise piece of electronics won't disappoint me either.
PS: Thanks a lot for the tip with TuneUp. For $50 it's really worth it! Thanks a lot, I will finally use iTunes 100%.
PS2: I read most of the posts, they were interesting, especially how most people got into Apple through the iPhone :), and I also read a few students who earn this WOW stuff from part-time jobs, which I don't find very pleasant. I like to work in business with enterprising people of the same age and with a similar goal, so if any of the students would like a pleasant long-term cooperation for attractive business money, you can email me something about yourself, maybe we can come to an agreement ;) – borovsky3 on Gmail
I've been at Apple for a little longer. I have had my iBook G4 for about 7 years and I also own a first generation iPod. The desktop Mac I'm sitting next to is about two years old... I've always liked Apple for a number of marginal and purely impractical reasons - Jobs is a vegetarian, listens to Bob Dylan, dated Joan Baez, wears the same rags all the time, and started out as a hippie, which makes me simply fascinates. Then I also like quality design and a pleasant user environment. There's a lot more to Apple than that... but... ever since the iPhone came out, Apple has been in the pocket of every simpleton who doesn't know Bob, isn't a vegetarian, or doesn't understand design. Just the queues for the iP put me off, just like the teenage ruminating dudes who always walk around with their iPhones so that no one sees them. I'm very sorry that Apple has become such a huge thing. It's not an alternative for a long time : (. Still, I can't work on windows and I might end up getting an iP anyway, but among certain people I'll be ashamed of it in a way... that I'm like the millions of other sheep... In short, Apple doesn't have it for me for a long time magic and I'm sorry.
I don't know how it is in the Czech Republic, but in my area apple is still not among the mainstream :) only one person in the class has an iPhone, the others have something with Android or Nokia....
Out of 20 people, I write 19 on laptops and all of them are windows machines.. (I hope that soon there will be only 18 :) And what is the difference between becoming an apple sheep or an android/MS sheep? :D
Jobs was a vegan :D and only ate carrots in his youth :D
So now I read the opinion of Mr. Pessimists, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who perceives this change that way. It is clear that the quantity must be reflected in the quality as well... But I find the most embarrassing thing about it simply the massiveness. Damage…
