Apple also offers its applications on the Android platform. Apart from Apple Music and Apple TV, this also includes, for example, Shazam, a music recognition platform. He bought this in September 2018 and it also offers direct integration of the Apple Music service. What does it look like and on a competing platform? Strangely enough different.

Compared to how it looks on Apple Music on Android, which we brought you a separate article about, by the way, Shazam is very different. Shazam already has a rich history indeed, as its first release dates back to 1999 by Berkeley students. However, the service was officially and fully launched only in 2002, in the United Kingdom. Back then, it still worked by sending codes from a mobile phone.

As you can probably guess, everything was kicked up by modern smartphones. As soon as titu appeared in the App Store, it already recorded a million downloads in 2009 countries in 150. In January 2011, it became the fourth most downloaded free app of all time in the app store. In August 2012, it was announced that Shazam had been used to tag more than five billion songs, TV shows and commercials. In addition, its creators claimed that it has more than 250 million users and over 2 million weekly active users.

Application differences

By buying the platform, Apple can also integrate it more into its system. So you can easily find it in the Control Center, which is quite handy. The iOS app immediately prompts you to "shazam" music upon launch, and below is a list of recent recognitions. Only after displaying it will you see options such as search, Shazams, Artists or Settings. To find the leaderboards, for example, you must first go to the search.

In this regard, the Android app is surprisingly more clear. Here, too, you can directly find the shazam option, but at the top you see icons for going to the Library or to the Leaderboards. In the library you will find your Shazams, as well as settings. The rankings then offer those by cities and countries from around the world.

Better on Android

Since Shazam is tied to Apple Music, you can also log into Apple's music streaming service in the settings. It simply means that you can then redirect directly to listening to the music you are looking for in Apple Music. You can also set auto-tagging or automatic song search right after starting the application, as well as the possibility of shazam from the pop-up menu or the notification panel. So the integration is maximum. Even if the information about the shazamized music is the same, the graphical interfaces are still different. The paradox of the whole comparison is that using the Android version is clearer, more intuitive and simply better.
