At the beginning of the week found very interesting results tests, when the new iPhones 6S and 6S Plus were immersed in water and, unlike last year's models, were able to function even after being fished out. As she has now shown closer analysis iFixit, Apple has really worked significantly on water protection.
In the new iPhone 6S, engineers in Cupertino redesigned the display frame to accommodate the new silicone seal. The width of the edge around the perimeter has increased by 0,3 millimeters, which may not seem like much, but it is a noticeable change already at first glance. Also, each cable now has its own silicone seal, and the focus was mainly on protecting the battery, display, buttons and Lightning port.
So we know the reason why it is possible that while last year's iPhones 6 didn't last even a few tens of seconds under water, the new iPhones 6S can work even if you leave them under water for an hour. It is true that XNUMX% functionality is not always guaranteed, especially not even by Apple, but a new seal can often save the life of an iPhone.

While this year Apple did not mention the improved water resistance of the new iPhones at all, there is speculation that the next Apple phones could already be officially water resistant.
In addition to disassembling the new iPhones from the point of view of examining the components and their functionality, some also examine them for their price. Such an analysis was traditionally brought by people from IHS iSuppli and found that the components that make up the 16GB iPhone 6S Plus cost about $236 (just under 5 crowns), while in the United States the new phone is sold for $800 (739 crowns).
However, the mentioned production price is certainly not final. As Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously stated, he himself has not yet seen a realistic estimate of the prices of his products, which always appear. In addition to the production price, logistics, development, marketing, etc. must also be added.
According to IHS, the most expensive components compared to last year are the new 3D Touch display and the Taptic Engine associated with it. At the same time, the price increased due to the more durable materials that Apple used in the iPhone 6S. We are talking about Gorilla Glass 4, a 7000 Series aluminum chassis or the aforementioned silicone protection.
IHS hasn't had enough time to disassemble the smaller iPhone 6S yet, but the iPhone 6S Plus costs about $20 more to make than last year's iPhone 6 Plus.
I will sign this: "However, the mentioned production price is definitely not final. As Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously stated, he himself has not yet seen a realistic estimate of the prices of his products, which always appear. In addition to the price for production, logistics, development, marketing, etc. must also be added."
Only components are always dealt with, but development, testing, etc. I'm not saying that it will somehow dramatically increase the price, after all, even after that I think they will have soup like a pig on every phone, but it won't be like that. I calculate that it will not be 3x the price of the parts, but only 2x
A range of free services and SW, no crap ware, 5GB iCloud, problem-free complaints, long-term SW support, etc., etc.
You're right, but he only allowed a few observations:
– Crap Ware – do you mean malware or stupid apps? At one time crapware was farting apps, luckily they are not anymore and malware is also problematic, viz. the last case of XCodeGhost, on the other hand it's unfortunately about people :-( Unfortunately, sometimes harsh conditions close the way to the appstore for some good apps, the last time I think it was the historical game Gettysburg,
– Hassle-free claims – they work abroad. It's a problem for us. I will not give here unofficial information regarding the exchange of pieces for pieces (I have no confirmation), but at least it has happened to me that during a complaint, the only authorized Apple service BRITEX, gave me non-original parts for my phone, although no one talked to me, they wouldn't care it wouldn't even have arrived if the power button on my 5 hadn't failed, which had the recall button on it...
I have had a few years in the store and, unfortunately, a few complaints about my own or family Apple products. Therefore, I can say that any of my complaints were handled within 2 to 3 weeks, and always by replacing the device with a new one. But I will definitely not claim that the service itself does not matter, because what happens in most mobile phone services in the Czech Republic is sickening.
It rather depends on the people, but you are right. I have a problem with the fact that most of the complaints were OK, but then there was always the bomb, which took about half a year to resolve.
See mentioned non-original parts, water poured into MBA, etc...
I would like to have an official Apple representative here, then it would hopefully improve, but I don't know where to press...
Yes, I meant the app store, but also the fact that there are no applications from operators on the device and the kind of ballast that is common with the competition, which no one wants there, or is useless anyway.
I don't know where you are from, but I use iOpravna in Prague. The repair of the iPad took two days, one day I brought it to the repair shop, the next day I picked up a brand new one. Macbook Air with faulty display lasted three days. They diagnosed it one day (about 10 minutes) and ordered a display. The next evening I brought it to them again and the next morning everything was done. And three other iPhone complaints that I know of from my surroundings were resolved in a similar way. The problem only arises if you want to claim a product from a gray import, in terms of a claim after the first year. The first year is covered by the international warranty and is handled the same way. In the second year, you have to complain to the dealer and it can freeze. Even at "reputable" companies. I bought a phone from Mironet. The first time I was surprised at iOpravna when they informed me that the phone was only for the UK, the second time when they repaired it at Mironet. Original parts usually work on the first try. Three was not enough here.
Well, you see, in iOpravna I didn't deal with the complaint, but the replacement of the sent motherboard for the MBP 2008 Late Unibody. I took it there, they ordered a part and that it would be in 14 days. After 14 days I called there and they said she hadn't come yet. Then it stank in there for a week before I ran them over. Again the part did not arrive. Hmm, so after another week I called there and said that the part had not arrived, so I told them that it was fine, that I was going on vacation for 14 days, that they would "stink" there for the next 3 weeks. In 20 minutes they called me that I could come for it the next day and it was not exactly a cheap repair. Just another funny thing, when I came, they didn't give me back, so they said if I didn't have a smaller one, I asked if I could use a card. Hmm bad luck, the boys then ran around looking for ways to change me. It's funny that during the time I was waiting there for the money, some guy came there to complain about their repair. After turning on the mac, I found out that there was a finger pressed in the middle of the display, it can't be seen directly, only from an angle (I figured it out the very next day) and I went to solve it. They played dead bugs.
I haven't put anything into iOpravna since then. I admit, it's been about 4 years since I bought the laptop, i.e. 2012 and maybe it's better now...
Otherwise, as far as I know, Britex supposedly buys the second year of the warranty from the sales company and keeps it (iPhone, iPad), if in this case iOpravna repairs it directly and doesn't send it to Britex, then if my phone breaks, I'll give them a chance :-)
Apple currently has about 115000 employees (Cupertino + Apple Store). Just the salaries alone for these people make a rough calculation of about 80-100 dollars for each iPhone sold. And no one mentions the massive data centers, factories equipped by Apple, so that they are even able to produce in the required quality and quantity, etc., etc.
No one who has ever made and sold anything is surprised by the triple price of the final product compared to the "parts".
Don't forget Apple's revenue from the AppStore, Music…. THOSE are huge commissions for applications developed by third parties for which they "just" provide a distribution channel and a data center. There is also a huge profit. It's all connected to the commercial success of the iPhone.
Yes, in absolute numbers and for a normal person, these are unimaginably high amounts. Compared to the iPhone, these are relatively unimportant amounts.
To give you an idea - the distribution of income by segment, so far in 2015 (roughly rounded and averaged from Q1-Q3/2015):
iPhone 65%
iPad 10%
Mac 10%
Services 10%
Other products 5%
For Q3, Apple announced a turnover of 50 billion USD, of which approximately 5 billion is based on services, which includes: iTunes music + video, Books, App Store, Mac Store, Apple software, iCloud. Of all this, 5 billion is almost "nothing".
The other products are watches and anything that Apple doesn't want to know exactly how much it makes.
I don't want to be a nitwit, but doesn't the new iPhone 6S/PS Plus have the new Ion-X glass instead of Gorilla Glass 4? And maybe it would be good to mention then whether it is better/stronger than the mentioned Gorilla Glass. After all, the Droptest conducted by the Australian magazine turned out quite well for the new iPhones...
Yes, it doesn't have Gorilla Glass, it has Ion-X.
