Adobe has officially launched a new version of its Flash Player, and although Steve Jobs, like most of the Apple community, doesn't like Flash, with version 10.2 it may be flashing to better times. The new Flash Player should use significantly less processors and work better. However, Macs with Power PCs are no longer supported.
One of the most important parts of Flash Player 10.2 is Stage Video. It is built on H.264 encoding and is supposed to fundamentally improve the hardware acceleration of video and bring it faster and better playback. Stage Video should therefore minimally load the processor.
Adobe tested its new product on supported systems (Mac OS X 10.6.4 and later with integrated graphics cards such as NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 320M or GeForce GT 330M) and came up with the results that the new Flash Player 10.2 is up to 34% more economical.
The server also performed a short test TUAW. On a MacBook Pro 3.06GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card, he launched Firefox 4, let it play on YouTube video in 720p and compared to Flash Player in version 10.1 saw major changes. CPU usage dropped from 60% to less than 20%. And that's really the difference you'll notice.
However, it will take some time to implement Stage Video, as developers will first need to embed this API into their products. However, Adobe says YouTube and Vimeo are already hard at work on the implementation.
Lest we forget, another great new feature in version 10.2 is support for multiple displays. This means that you can play a flash video in full screen on one monitor, while working quietly on the other.

well, it would be time for adobe to rework the flash player a bit for the better.. on my old company laptop, flash videos are quite choppy, but mp4, mkv h.264, mov, avi mpeg2-4 can also be played in 720p, but in flash in the browser it is terror
SUPER. I really recommend the new update.. Now I tried it and it doesn't even behave like a flash player anymore: D even my wife doesn't even start the fan at full speed as soon as she starts any flash video. the difference is really noticeable
That's it, suppa, after installation, it doesn't work on half of the video websites, fulcsreen, opera and chrome fail.. the last flash, act. system and bought the last version of the plastic macbook.. that's just the top of the SW.. wow... I hope those rats from RIM will get rid of their tablet...
(1080p-from the macbook is an air circulator)..hjo..
