If you watched the September Apple conference with us yesterday, you certainly did not miss the four new products that Apple presented. Specifically, it was the presentation of the Apple Watch Series 6 and the cheaper Apple Watch SE, in addition to smart watches, Apple also introduced the new 8th generation iPad, together with the completely redesigned and somewhat revolutionary iPad Air 4th generation. It was the new iPad Air that was considered a kind of "highlight" of the entire conference, as it offers countless great novelties compared to its predecessor, which will delight absolutely every apple enthusiast. Let's take a look at all these news and specifications of iPad Air 4th generation together in this article.

Design and processing

In the case of the new iPad Air, similarly to the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple has really taken a step back, i.e. in terms of colors. The new iPad Air 4th generation is now available in a total of 5 different colors. Specifically, these are classic silver, space gray and rose gold, but green and azure are also available in addition to nothing. As for the size of the iPad Air, it has a width of 247,6 mm, a length of 178,5 mm and a thickness of only 6,1 mm. If you're wondering about the weight of the new iPad Air, it's 458 g for the Wi-Fi model, the Wi-Fi and cellular model is 2 grams heavier. You will find speakers on the top and bottom of the chassis, and the power button with built-in Touch ID is also located in the upper part. On the right side you will then find two buttons for volume control, a magnetic connector and a nanoSIM slot (in the case of the Celluar model). On the back, in addition to the protruding camera lens, there is a microphone and Smart Connector. Charging and connecting peripherals is then facilitated by the new USB-C connector.

Display

As we mentioned above, the 4th generation iPad Air lost Touch ID, which was located in the desktop button at the bottom of the front of the device. Thanks to the removal of the desktop button, the 4th generation iPad Air has much narrower bezels and generally looks more like the iPad Pro. As for the display, the panel itself is practically identical to the one offered by the iPad Pro, only it is smaller. The 10.9″ display offers LED backlighting with IPS technology. The display resolution is then 2360 x 1640 pixels, which means 264 pixels per inch. In addition, this display offers support for the P3 color gamut, True Tone display, oleophobic anti-smudge treatment, anti-reflective layer, reflectivity of 1.8% and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. The display is then fully laminated and supports the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.

Performance

Many of us did not expect that the iPad Air could receive a brand new processor before the new iPhones - but yesterday Apple wiped everyone's eyes and the upcoming beast in the form of the A14 Bionic processor is actually first found in the 4th generation iPad Air and not in the new iPhones . The A14 Bionic processor offers six cores, compared to its predecessor in the form of the A13 Bionic, it has 40% more computing power, and the graphics performance is then 13% higher than the A30. Interestingly, Apple states that this processor can perform 11 trillion different operations per second, which is a really respectable number. However, what we don't know for now is the amount of RAM that the new iPad Air will offer. Unfortunately, Apple does not brag about this information, so we will have to wait a few days for this information until the first new iPad Airs appear in the hands of the first users.

Camera

The new iPad Air of the 4th generation has of course also received improvements to the camera. On the back of the iPad Air, there is a single five-element lens, which boasts a resolution of 12 Mpix and an aperture number of f/1.8. In addition, this lens offers a hybrid infrared filter, a back-illuminated sensor, Live Photos with stabilization, autofocus and tap focus using Focus Pixels technology, as well as a panorama up to 63 Mpix, exposure control, noise reduction, Smart HDR, automatic image stabilization, sequential mode, self-timer, saving with GPS metadata and the option to save in HEIF or JPEG format. As for video recording, with the new iPad Air it is possible to record video up to 4K resolution at 24, 30 or 60 FPS, 1080p video at 30 or 60 FPS. It is also possible to record slow-motion video in 1080p resolution at 120 or 240 FPS. There is, of course, time-lapse, the possibility of taking 8 Mpix photos while recording video and much more.

As for the front camera, it has a resolution of 7 Mpix and boasts an aperture number of f/2.0. It can record video in 1080p at 60 FPS, supports Live Photos with a wide color range, as well as Smart HDR. There is also lighting with Retina Flash (display), automatic image stabilization, sequential mode, exposure control or self-timer mode.

There is also Bluetooth 5.0. If you decide to buy the Celluar version, you will have to use a nanoSIM card, the good news is that this version also offers eSIM and calls via Wi-Fi. In the package, you will then find a 20W USB-C power adapter and a USB-C charging cable with a length of 1 meter for the new iPad Air. The built-in battery then has 28.6 Wh and offers up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music, the Celluar model then offers 9 hours of web browsing on mobile data.
