In July of this year, Instagram began testing something unthinkable until then - users from some countries stopped seeing detailed information about how many people liked their picture. It currently works this way in seven countries, and it seems that something very similar is coming from Instagram on the Facebook platform as well.

Facebook representatives confirmed that the company is actually considering something like this. From the beginning, the removal of information about the number of Likes would only concern posts in the so-called News Feed, based on the interaction of users' friends. The user would thus see that one of his friends marked the article with the Like button, but he would not see the total number of individual interactions. Signs of this change have recently appeared in the Facebook Android application, for example.

Although Facebook has confirmed that the implementation of something similar is imminent, a more specific statement could not be obtained. Just as the conclusions are not known, how this change affected the users of the Instagram social network and their interactions.

Facebook

The goal of Facebook, as in the case of Instagram, will be to place more emphasis on shared information as such (be it statuses, photos, videos...) rather than evaluating the success of a post by the number of "likes" below it. On Instagram, this change works so far in such a way that the user sees the number of interactions for his posts, but not for those of others. So it can be expected that something like this will gradually reach Facebook as well.
