If you have decided to repair your own iPhone, or any other similar device, you should pay attention to this article. In it, we will look at 5 tips in which you will learn everything you should know before starting home repairs. In the near future, we will prepare a series for you in which we will go into more depth with possible pitfalls and information.

The right tools

Even before you start doing anything, it is necessary that you check whether you have the right and suitable tools. First of all, you are interested in whether you have the tools you need for a successful repair. It can be screwdrivers with a specific head, or perhaps suction cups and others. At the same time, it is necessary to mention that the tools should be of high quality. If you have unsuitable tools, you risk possible damage to the device. An absolute nightmare is, for example, a torn off screw head that cannot be repaired in any way. From my own experience, I can recommend the use of the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit repair kit, which is of high quality and you will find everything you need in it - you can find a full review here.

Enough light

All repairs, not just electronics, should be done where there is plenty of light. Absolutely everyone, including me, will tell you that the best light is sunlight. So if you have the opportunity, carry out repairs in a bright room and ideally during the day. Of course, not everyone has the opportunity to do the repair during the day - but in this case, make sure that you turn on all the lights in the room that you can. In addition to the classic light, feel free to use a lamp, or you can also use the flashlight on your mobile device. At the same time, however, it is necessary that you do not overshadow yourself. Do not attempt to repair at all in poor lighting conditions, as you will most likely screw up more than you fix.

Workflow

If you have the right and high-quality tools, together with a perfect light source, then you should at least spend some time studying the workflow before the repair. Of course, you can find all these procedures on the Internet. You can use various portals that deal with device repairs - for example iFixit, or you can use YouTube, where you can often find great videos with commentary. It is always better to look at the manual or video before doing the actual repair to make sure you understand everything. It is definitely not ideal to find out in the middle of the procedure that you are unable to perform a certain step. In any case, after watching the manual or video, keep it ready and follow it during the repair itself.

Do you feel up to it?

Each of us is original in our own way. While some of us are more or less calm, patient and unfazed by anything, other individuals can quickly get angry at the first screw. I personally belong to the first group, so I shouldn't have a problem with corrections - but if I said that this is really the case, I would be lying. There are days when my hands are throbbing, or days when I just don't feel like fixing things. If something inside tells you that you shouldn't start repairing today, then listen. During repairs, you have to be 100% focused, calm and patient. If anything disrupts one of these properties, there can be a problem. Personally, I can easily postpone the repair for a few hours, or even a whole day, just to be sure that nothing will throw me off.

Static electricity

If you have prepared the right tools, properly lit the room and the work area, studied the work procedure and feel that today is the right day, then you are probably already ready to start the repair. Before you do anything, you should be familiar with static electricity. Static electricity is the name for phenomena that are caused by the accumulation of electric charge on the surface of various bodies and objects and their exchange during mutual contact. Static charge is created when two materials come into contact and separate again, possibly by their friction. The above-mentioned tool set also includes an antistatic bracelet, which I recommend using. Although it is not a rule, static electricity can completely disable some components. Personally, I managed to destroy two displays this way from the start.
