Discord has long been one of the most popular communication platforms. Through Discord, you can, for example, talk to friends on the phone or meet directly in selected channels on both Mac and iPhone/iPad. Of course, there is also the possibility to share the screen or the possibility of a video call. The program works great in almost every way. Until now, there was one big but… unfinished optimization for Macs with Apple Silicon.

Discord Canary

However, this is now changing with the arrival of a new version of Discord Canary, which brings complete optimization and can finally be run natively on Macs with Apple Silicon chips. Thanks to this, the program is noticeably faster, as it does not have to rely on translation through the Rosetta 2 solution, which of course takes some of the performance for itself. In the case of the classic version of Discord, which is currently only available for Apple computers with an Intel processor, on Macs with Apple Silicon you have to deal with various crashes and problems quite often.

As we mentioned above, the solution comes in the form of Discord Canary. However, it should be noted that this is not a completely ordinary version of the software that the vast majority have installed. It is the Canary designation that indicates a version that is loaded with the most modern technologies, but is only released among a few volunteers who are willing to be the first to use new features. So is Google's Chrome Canary, for example.

If you own a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip and regularly use Discord, I can only recommend downloading Discord Canary. Personally, I've noticed a huge shift in speed without having to bother with the mentioned problems or even crashing the program. Discord Canary is of course available completely free and you can download it by clicking here.

When will standard Discord run natively?

In the end, the question naturally arises as to when the standard version of Discord will also run natively. Although we do not yet know the exact answer to this question, we can preliminarily count on the fact that it will not take long for the developers. If native support for Apple Silicon is already available within Discord Canary, it should reach the general public relatively soon.
