Supporters of ecology and environmental protection will certainly be delighted, but owners of a smaller number of accessories will not. Apple stated at today's Keynote that it will not include a power adapter or wired EarPods with the iPhone 12. The Californian giant justified this fact by saying that thanks to this step, it will be able to reduce carbon emissions, and in addition, the packaging will be smaller in volume, which certainly has a positive impact on the environment in terms of simpler logistics. According to Apple, this step will save 2 million tons of carbon per year, which is certainly not an insignificant part.

Apple Vice President Lisa Jackson stated that there are more than 2 billion power adapters in the world, so it would be unnecessary to include them in the packaging. Another reason for the removal, according to Apple, is that more and more customers are switching to wireless charging. In the package of new iPhones, you will only find a charging cable, with a Lightning connector on one side and USB-C on the other, but you will have to purchase the adapter and EarPods separately if you need them.

iPhone 12:

Whether this is a misstep or a marketing move on the part of Apple, or on the contrary a step in the right direction, only time will tell how the iPhone 12 will be sold. Apple is implementing exactly the same approach as in the case of the Apple Watch, and in my opinion it definitely makes sense. Personally, I wouldn't decide whether to buy a phone based on that, but on the other hand, it's also true that most users still don't own an adapter or a computer with USB-C, so they'll have to invest in a new adapter for their phone, or use a different charger.
