After an unusually long wait, we finally got it. On the occasion of today's keynote, the Californian giant came out with new Apple phones that push the boundaries forward again. Specifically, we got four versions in three sizes. However, in this article we will focus on the smallest of the models presented today, which is called the iPhone 12 mini.
Introduction about the iPhone as such…
The introduction of the new iPhone was traditionally started by Tim Cook. Just like every year, this year Cook focused on summarizing what happened in the world of iPhones during the year. It is still the best-selling phone with proven user satisfaction. Of course, the iPhone as such is not an ordinary phone, but a smart device that works with notes, calendar, CarPlay and other applications and functions. In addition, the iPhone is of course very secure and Apple strives to ensure that all user data is protected. So let's take a look together at the news that iPhone 12 comes with.
New design and colors
As expected, the iPhone 12 comes with a new design that features a chassis in the style of the 2018 iPad Pro (and later), with a back made of high-quality tempered glass. As for the colors, the iPhone 12 is available in black, white, PRODUCT(RED), green and blue. Because of the aforementioned 5G support, it was of course necessary for Apple to completely redesign the hardware and other internals of this new Apple phone. In short, the iPhone 12 is 11% thinner, 15% smaller and 16% lighter than its predecessor.
Display
One of the biggest differences between last year's classic 11 series and the 11 Pro series was the display. The classic series had an LCD display, the Pro then an OLED display. With the iPhone 12, Apple finally comes with its own OLED display, which offers perfect color reproduction - this display was named Super Retina XDR. The contrast ratio of the display is 2:000, compared to its predecessor in the form of the iPhone 000, the iPhone 1 offers twice as many pixels. The OLED display is perfect for all occasions – for playing games, watching movies and videos, and much more. The OLED display displays the color black in such a way that it completely turns off specific pixels, which are therefore not backlit and rather "grey". The sensitivity of the display is 11 PPI (pixels per inch), the brightness is then up to an incredible 12 nits, there is also support for HDR 460 and Dolby Vision.
Hardened glass
The front glass of the display was created especially for Apple with Corning and was named Ceramic Shield. As the name suggests, this glass is enriched with ceramics. Specifically, ceramic crystals are deposited at high temperature, which ensures significantly greater durability - nothing like this on the market. Specifically, this glass is up to 4 times more resistant to falling.
5G for all iPhone 12 is here!
Early on, Tim Cook, , and Verizon's Hans Vestberg, spent a lot of time introducing 5G support for iPhones. 5G is one of the most anticipated features coming to all iPhones. Under normal conditions, 5G users will be able to download at a speed of up to 4 Gb/s, uploading will then be up to 200 Mb/s - of course, the speed will continue to increase gradually and mainly depends on the conditions. It should be noted that the iPhone 12 supports the most 5G bands of all phones on the market. The 5G chip was then optimized to avoid excessive power consumption. In any case, the iPhone 12 comes with the Smart Data Mode function, when there is an automatic switch between the connection to 4G and 5G. In the case of 5G, Apple has decided to cooperate with more than 400 global operators around the world.
A bloated A14 Bionic processor
As for the processor, of course we got the A14 Bionic, which already beats in the iPad Air of the fourth generation. As we already know, this is the most powerful mobile processor and is manufactured using a 5nm manufacturing process. The A14 Bionic processor includes 11,8 billion transistors, which is an incredible 40% increase over last year's A13 processor. As such, the processor offers 6 cores, the graphics chip then offers 4 cores. The computing power of the processor as such, together with the graphics processor, is 13% greater compared to the A50 Bionic. Apple has also focused on Machine Learning in this case, and the A14 Bionic offers 16 Neural Engine cores. Thanks to a very powerful processor and 5G, the iPhone 12 offers an absolutely perfect experience when playing games - in particular, we were able to see a sample of League of Legends: Rift. In this game, we can mention the absolutely incredible depiction of details even in the most demanding actions, thanks to 5G, users can then play games without the need to connect to Wi-Fi.
Redesigned dual photo system
The photo system of the iPhone 12 itself also received changes. Specifically, we received a completely redesigned dual module that offers a 12 Mpix wide-angle lens and a 12 Mpix ultra-wide-angle lens. The lens for the portrait is then missing, in any case, the powerful hardware of the iPhone 12 can handle the creation of the portrait. The main lens is composed of 7 parts, so we can look forward to lower noise in poor lighting conditions. There is also support for Smart HDR 3 and an improved Night mode, for which the device uses machine learning so that the result is as good as possible. In addition, we can also mention the perfect quality of photos from the front camera in low light conditions. As for video, users can look forward to unrivaled quality. In addition to the Night mode, the Time Lapse mode has also been improved.
New accessories and MagSafe
With the arrival of the iPhone 12, Apple also rushed with countless different protective cases. Specifically, all the new accessories are magnetic, and that's because we've seen MagSafe arrive on iPhones. But definitely don't worry - MagSafe, which you know from MacBooks, has not arrived. So let's explain everything together. Newly, there are several magnets on the back of the iPhone 12 that are optimized for the best possible charging. MagSafe on iPhones can be considered a new generation for wireless charging - you can use it even with the already mentioned new cases. In addition, Apple also came up with a new Duo Charger wireless charger that can be used to charge the iPhone together with the Apple Watch.
Without headphones and adapter
Towards the end of the iPhone 12 presentation, we also received some information about how Apple leaves no carbon footprint. The entire iPhone is, of course, made of 100% recyclable material, and as expected, Apple removed the wired AirPods from the packaging, along with the adapter. In addition to the iPhone as such, we only find the cable in the package. Apple decided on this step for environmental reasons - there are around 2 billion chargers in the world and it is very likely that most of us already have one at home. Thanks to this, the packaging itself will also be reduced and logistics will also be simpler.
iPhone 12mini
It should be noted that the iPhone 12 is not the only iPhone from the "classic 12" series - among other things, we got the smaller iPhone 5.4 mini. It is smaller than the iPhone SE of the second generation, the screen size is only 12″. In terms of parameters, the iPhone 12 mini is practically identical to the iPhone 5, only everything is packed into an even smaller body. This is the smallest, thinnest and lightest 12G phone in the world, which is obviously very admirable. The price of the iPhone 799 is then set at $12, the iPhone 699 mini at $12. The iPhone 16 will be available for pre-order on October 12, for sale a week later. The iPhone 6 mini will then be available for pre-order on November 13, sales will start on November XNUMX.
In addition to the lidar, it's a repackaged 10 pack
This is too much for me
12mpx in 2020?
Steve the pug is turning in his grave
Virtually everyone today knows that mpx is practically just a number. Yes, it is important, but much more important is the chip.
and optics
In addition to the lidar, it's a repackaged 10 pack

12mpx in 2020?

Amen
Why the hunt for mpx?
that's another comment...
So you stupidly increase your fitness and what do you see? Lego!!
They messed up with those Czech iPhone 12 prices, didn't they? After all, it is supposed to be the successor of the 11. Quite an illogical layout, last year the 11 attracted a price of 21k, which was 9k less than the Pro. This year, however, a large part of people will be put off by the 25k price tag, and who will want to pay 1k more for a 5,4 model mini than last year for a 6,1 model?!
Come on, nerds... especially appleCR?
Well, that was to be expected, the 5 had a low-resolution LCD, it was more of a strainer, not much in terms of design due to the thick frames, this is closer to the PRO models. XNUMXG also cost a little extra. And Apple will simply never be cheap, the annual lamentation is pointless.
Sure, but even so the display on the 11 was fully adequate and for me personally the only really noticeable difference was in the black (especially at night). No visible squaring of pixels took place. Making 5G a super innovation that increases the price tag is simply laughable in a situation where competing phones have had it for several years. For 25k you have to get a mobile phone that will be a class leader, a top thing. Which the iPhone 12 is not and is certainly not presented as such by Apple. So, in the end, it seems that the XNUMX is neither a top mobile nor an affordable mobile. I myself am curious as to what kind of clientele he will find here at least.
I rather find it funny that they removed the charger and headphones from the package, which makes the price even more exorbitant. I do have a charger and headphones, but if I sell my old iPhone, it will be to someone who may not have it.
Why didn't they keep 5G for PRO versions, or markets with 5G? Again, everyone pays extra in the USA so that everything works for them there and not elsewhere??♂️ Here (I don't mean only CR) this whole bunch of things work and the phones/watches/… we have the absolute most expensive ones? But then why not, let's keep it on our heads and make Amikum a good cash cow??♂️
The mini model has the finest display of all four presented models – 476 pixels per inch.
Those who longed for a smaller iPhone finally got it, and they don't even have to make big compromises. The mini has practically the same internals as all the other models. I don't see the aluminum chassis as a problem, because aluminum has proven itself well with iPhones in the past, with all the Watches and Macbooks sold here - I don't need steel, aluminum is absolutely OK for me. There will be no Lidar - who cares? Apart from special applications, it will be used for portrait photography in bad light, but if I want to take a portrait photo, then I will definitely not do it in bad light, that makes sense. Basically, the mini model only lacks a third camera – a telephoto lens (plus a feature with an improved and moving sensor in the Max). Is it worth the money? Not to me. I'll admit that I'd rather have a telephoto lens instead of an ultra wide (like on the X), but that's the only thing that bothers me about non-Pro models. I won't do anything with it and definitely take the mini.
So I'm curious about sales successes. I think they're a bit out of time. Anyone who had X and above, or even Xr and 11, will find it difficult to switch to a 5,4 display. Plus the notch - what's that like?! Couldn't they really put some work into making it smaller? The pieces of the display around it are barely half a centimeter.
Agreement. What I need to do on a larger display, I do on the iPad. I would like a smaller phone. And I want it in black – the Pro models don't have it. I have LiDAR on my iPad Pro and it's still useless.
And where the hell are the frames? I can never find them.
Did you forget the data?
Is it that important?
Specifically, this glass is up to 4 times more resistant to falling.
4x vs what?
They write 4x compared to the previous series, the so-called Ip11
I couldn't find anywhere.. how about the 12 mini with MagSafe support? And with the associated accessories?
All iPhone 12s support MagSafe.
Thanks!
