In today's fast-paced world, we are practically constantly under the weight of stress and a constant flood of new information. For example, consider how many times during the day you receive a new notification, a message, a large number of e-mails and many other information on your iPhone or iPad. In the same way, we are always in a hurry somewhere and we are chasing achievements not only at work, but also in our personal life. So it's no wonder that every other person suffers from depression, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, obesity and generally lives a bad lifestyle. From all these problems, various health diseases can very easily arise, which can make us completely indisposed or, in the worst case, kill us. How to get out of it?

There are certainly countless solutions, starting with a complete reorganization of lifestyle and lifestyle, through regular exercise, rest or relaxation, to alternative medicine and various meditations. Another option may be to connect modern scientific technology to your iPhone or iPad. The American company HeartMath deals with breakthrough technologies in the so-called field of personal biofeedback, in which it offers a special Lightning heart rate sensor Inner Balance for iOS devices communicating with the application of the same name.

The main purpose and content of not only the sensor itself, but also the aforementioned application is to help you reduce daily stress in a simple way - by monitoring the success of mental-breathing techniques - and at the same time develop mental and physical balance and increase personal energy. You simply attach this sensor (plethysmograph) to your earlobe, start the Inner Balance application and train using a method commonly referred to as HRV biofeedback, i.e. heart rate variability training.

Biofeedback is explained as biological feedback; i.e. a natural phenomenon to maintain balance and improve the physiological, mental, emotional and mental state. Heart rate variability is a desirable physiological phenomenon, allowing the organism to adapt to external and internal changes, such as stress, physical or mental activities, regeneration and restoration of strength or healing. The higher the heart rate variability (HRV), the better a person's physical and mental health and well-being.

It may sound too scientific at first glance, but there is nothing to be surprised about. In this field, the HeartMath Institute has published hundreds of different substantiated scientific studies on the principle of HRV function and the importance of the so-called cardiac coherence. All research confirms that the heart and the brain are mutually synchronous, i.e. that they constantly cooperate with each other, intensively communicate and evaluate all life events together. It follows that once a person gets the heart under control with the help of cardiac coherence, he can significantly influence the activity of the brain and thus his life, emotions and stress.

The aforementioned state of heart coherence needs to be constantly trained so that it is a part of our life. The Inner Balance application helps you in this training, which objectively evaluates the current state of cardiac coherence and HRV using a precise heart rate sensor. You have a unique opportunity to monitor the development of your heart-brain cooperation and the adaptability of your heart.

Progress of coherence training on the iPhone

You can train at any time of the day. All you have to do is connect the connector, place the sensor on your earlobe and turn on the Inner Balance app. You will then get to the application environment, where your own training takes place. Just press the Play button and you're training.

The important thing is to focus on training mental-breathing techniques and try to detach yourself from all the thoughts and sensations that are constantly flowing into your brain. The simplest aid is monitoring the entire course of breathing, i.e. smooth inhalation and exhalation. If you regularly train cardiac coherence, you don't need special conditions to maintain it, but you will be "coherent" during any ordinary or highly stressful situation, after all, the same way the US military or police or top athletes use this methodology.

You can also close your eyes if you want, but I personally found it more helpful to look at the accompanying effects offered by the application in the beginning.

You have a total of four modes to choose from, which differ in terms of graphics. The first option is watching a colored circle with a pulsating mandala in the middle, which moves at regular intervals to help you establish the correct breathing rhythm. In the same way, in all environments you see three color distinctions, which roughly indicate the level of heart coherence you are in. Logically, red is bad, blue is average, and green is best. Ideally, each person should be in green all the time, which indicates the correct value of coherence.

The second training environment is very similar to the previous one, only instead of a colored circle we see colored lines that move up and down, which again want to indicate to you the course of inhalation and exhalation. For the third environment, there is only an illustrative photo, which is supposed to induce pleasant feelings. You can easily change this photo and replace it with your own photo from your album.

The last mode is also a results mode, where you can conveniently check your own heart rate and coherence during training, including other data such as training time or achieved score. You can clearly see coherence and heart rate using graphs that constantly change according to your physiological state. For example, you may find that a small negative thought or watching a TV show is preventing you from achieving a desirable and healthy state. I verified several times that as soon as my mind wandered somewhere during the training and I started thinking about something other than my own breath, the wave of coherence immediately went down.

After finishing the training, a selection of simple smileys appears on the display, which has an informative character in the form of mood and how you currently feel after the training. Subsequently, the results of the entire training will appear. I can see the difficulty I have chosen, the training time, the average values of individual coherence, whether in the red, blue or green area, and above all a simple graph where I can see exactly according to time how my heart coherence changed and what the HRV was and the course of the heart rate. I can then easily see when my heart and brain were out of sync and where I literally fell out of training.

Results service

All completed trainings are automatically saved in several places. In addition to the training diary, where I can see all the procedures and complete statistics, the application supports the so-called HeartCloud, which can synchronize and communicate with all iOS devices on which I have the Inner Balance application installed and actively train. In addition, I can see other graphic statistics or achievements of other users from all over the world who train the same way as me. Of course, the application does not lack various user settings, motivational tasks, setting personal goals, development and offering a complete training history.

The intensity at which you train depends only on you. Studies indicate that training should take place several times a day, preferably in regular periods at least three times a day, but especially before an important situation of yours that matters to you. Or after a situation where you don't feel well or don't feel comfortable in your own skin. Overall, Inner Balance is very intuitive and, above all, clear. Likewise, the heart rate sensor is absolutely accurate and equals the common devices that you can see in medical facilities.

The Inner Balance app itself can be downloaded for free in the App Store, and you can buy the connector including the sensor for 4 crowns. It may seem like an exorbitant and overestimated price for one connector, but on the other hand, it is a unique technology that has no analogues in our country or in the world. Everything is backed up by hundreds of scientific studies that demonstrably prove that regular coherence training can significantly reduce stress and overall improve lifestyle and make our lives more enjoyable.
