With the concept Evernote you've probably met before. This cross-platform service, which allows you to record, organize, share and easily find different types of information from simple text notes to web clippings, is hugely popular and the number of users is constantly growing (Evernote recently announced that it reached the mark of 100 established user accounts ). Although the full use of all the possibilities of this service is based on the installation of both the desktop and mobile version, it can practically work (and I personally know several such users) only with the application installed on an iOS device. This version of the application is an excellent tool for the first of the mentioned activities - collecting various types of notes. Of course, the mobility of an iPhone or iPad is used to record data, but the user interface of Evernote is also adapted to the simple collection of information. We will talk about what you can collect in the iOS application in the following paragraphs.
Text notes
The simplest version of the note is plain text, or its formatted modification. It is possible to use the foundation directly in the Evernote application, in which you are able to edit a simple note using basic formatting tools (bold, italic, resize, font, and more). For simpler and much faster to enter a simple note in the field, use one of the external applications. I can recommend from my own experience FastEver for iPhone (or FastEver XL for iPad).
Sound recordings
It can also be useful during a lecture or meeting recording an audio track, which subsequently becomes an attachment to a newly created or existing note. You start the recording directly from the Evernote main panel (it creates a new note) or it is possible to start with the audio track in the currently open and currently edited note. You can also write text notes in parallel.
Images and scans of paper materials
In addition to the ability to insert any image anywhere in a note, Evernote can also be used as mobile scanner. Evernote again offers the possibility to immediately start scanning any document by starting the mode Camera and setting to Document, which creates a new note and gradually inserts the pictures you have taken into it, as well as turning on this mode in the currently edited note. To take advantage of even better scanning options with possible support for multiple formats or multi-page documents, I can definitely recommend the application ScannerPro, which can be very easily linked to Evernote.
E-mails
Do you record information in your e-mail box that later serves as background material for, for example, a business trip? Tickets, hotel room reservation confirmation, directions to the meeting place? For easier to find and access it's great to be able to save this information in Evernote and avoid having to visit your email client all the time. Since copying and pasting would be quite complicated, Evernote offers the option to forward such information to unique email address, which every user account has, thanks to which a new note is created in a few seconds from a regular e-mail. Such an e-mail can also include an attachment (for example, a ticket in PDF format), which will certainly not be lost during forwarding and will be attached to the newly created note. The icing on the cake is then special syntax, thanks to which you can put the e-mail in a specific notebook, assign labels to it or set a reminder (see below). There are even special applications such as CloudMagic, which directly support saving to Evernote.
Files
Files of various formats can also be part of each note. Can be created from Evernote perfectly accessible and clear electronic archive, in which any of your documents - invoices, contracts or even manuals - will be at your fingertips. Of course, attaching a file in an iOS device is not as easy as in OS X. I recommend using the "Open In" (Open In) in various applications, possibly forwarding to the e-mail address of your account (see the previous paragraph).
Web clippings
You can also save parts of the website that interest you for some reason - articles, interesting information, materials for surveys or projects. Purely the Evernote mobile application is not enough here, but explore the possibilities of the tool, for example EverWebClipper for iPhone, possibly EverWebClipper HD for iPad, and you will find that it is also very easy to do on a mobile device submit a web page in moments to any notebook in Evernote.
Business cards
Evernote has been available in the iOS version for a long time store business cards, automatically find and save contact information and thanks to the connection to the social network LinkedIn find and connect missing data (phone, website, photos, job positions and more). You start scanning a business card in the same way as scanning documents, in mode Camera and scrolling through the mode Business Card. Evernote itself will guide you through the next steps (a possible step-by-step description can be found in article on the LifeNotes server).
Reminders
For each of the established notes, you can also create so-called Reminder or reminder. Evernote will then notify you, for example, of the approaching end of the validity of the document, the warranty period of the purchased goods, or, thanks to this function, it can also serve as a simple task management tool including notices.
Lists
If you don't use checklists, start with them in Evernote, for example. As part of a normal text note, you can attach a so-called checkbox to each of the points, thanks to which the normal text becomes a visually different type of information (a task or an item that you want to check within the given list). You can then use such a list when you are going on vacation or preparing to close a project and you do not want to miss any of the important points.
There will certainly be a long list of variations that I did not mention in the article. Evernote is a very powerful tool with many possibilities, the later implementation of which in the life of an individual, a team or a company passes in a high-quality database of information with easy accessibility from anywhere and by finding exactly the information you need at that moment. If you want to learn more about Evernote and its capabilities, I recommend visiting the portal LifeNotes, which focuses directly on the possibilities of using Evernote in practice.
Let the saving of information in Evernote serve you as well as possible.

It installed, but I'm stuck with individual iOS/OSX setups. I would have to learn a new organizational structure, and individual original apps have the advantage that they are already directly in the system in an unlimited way. And they are synced in real time with iCloud and OSX. namely the app: Notes, ios Dictaphone, Reminders, Calendars and Safari Ctecka – reading list, bookmarks. In addition, most of them enable all-purpose sharing of the list and delegation to other users. I think that a lot of people have not learned how to properly use the tools of the ios-icloud-osx system themselves, and instead install duplicates with the help of external applications. Appstory is filled with applications that only need a colored button and use a program that is already in the system :) This is not a criticism of the author or Evernote. Evernote needs to have everything together and you need to bring more functionality, it would just like to compare the pros and cons. Why do you need to pay extra for some fastever, when it's "fast ever" to open Notes in ios and then read them in OSX, and for free.
I agree. Even though evernote and similar special programs usually have more options, on the other hand, they are more confusing. I use evernote mainly because we use Microsoft in the company and Outlook supports evernote, so I can move emails to notes and create tasks from them.
What would you change about Evernote to make it more organized?
I will join as an author :) Thank you very much for your comment. I certainly agree that alternatives can be found in iOS apps for collection. However, it is not so famous with organization and search. In the next parts, I will definitely add information about why you should choose Evernote and what other people "don't keep up with" or "suffocate".

The biggest advantage of these programs is the existence for each axis and many add-ons for different programs and the simple possibility of sharing.
Connecting to other software is certainly a huge advantage of Evernote.
Another huge advantage, especially recently (since the creation of the Business version), is that it is possible to build a company or team information archive relatively quickly and cheaply (wiki, DMS, simple contact management, etc.), which team members can easily access even in planes offline without much effort.
I was thinking of these programs: Evernote, Onenote, Dropbox, etc.
Evernote is nice, I personally use it for short notes and clippings from the web. It's a shame that the pro version is relatively expensive, and in the free version for ios I'm annoyed by the impossibility of passwording the application. For this, I can recommend Awesome note, which can be synchronized with evernote. For more detailed and comprehensive notes, I can recommend Onenote.
Isn't it enough to add an iOS-only PIN with instant lock and wipe data after 10 attempts? I understand it's not "the real thing", but as basic protection it will do.
Evernote is definitely great for clipping, both on desktop and mobile. Website content in the archive including organization in a few clicks (or even without clicking).
For example Awesome note is password protected so I don't mind. It's the main reason why I don't use the official evernote client.
Hello everyone. I'm still new to Apple. But I'm trying and learning... I use Evernote together with Penultimate. What I scribble down for a meeting in Penultimate, I have right away in Evernote. I use a Mac, Ipad and iPhone, so I have everything everywhere. I use it a lot and it makes me happy.
Great, thank you very much for the addition, this option is missing from the article.
This process, as well as scanning with the camera from paper directly into Evernote, is an excellent way to capture a digital form of handwritten notes that I can then access from anywhere and look up in seconds. On a mobile phone, tablet, computer - even someone else's.
How do you find handwritten text in images?
I haven't gotten that far and maybe I don't even need it. I just need the minutes of the meeting, I will rewrite them at home on the Mac in the desired form and that's all. Since I am trying to have a "paperless" office, this is the perfect way for me. I have everything on iCloud or G Drive.
In my opinion, SwiftKey Note is the fastest way to write notes in Evernote.
*I work for SwiftKey, but it's still true :-) *
:) is it also functional in CZ? I would like to try it, I have excellent experience with it in "another" OS.
What am I missing in Evernote, is writing notes in Markdown, or did I just overlook it?
Evernote itself does not have markdown, there are other processes that support markdown and this service - see for example http://www.todohack.com/2014/02/12/three-ways-to-use-markdown-with-evernote/
I would perhaps add that you can use the postach.io blog form via everonote :)
Postach.io is a great service and will definitely be discussed in the final part of the Evernote series. Are you using it?
I use it
What is the difference between the paid and free versions?
I once described the basic differences in a short video (Part 2) here http://lifenotes.cz/videokurz/
Compared to the video, there is also the option of encrypting notes, presentation mode, ... If I could help you make a decision, definitely write to daniel@lifenotes.cz
