Apple released its fifth ad this week, which continues to promote the iPhone 6S. In a new spot with actor Bill Hader, he decided to once again demonstrate how the voice assistant Siri can be called remotely.
In previous advertisements, this function was already used another actor, Jamie Foxx, was showing, who activated the voice assistant by saying "Hey Siri" and then entered a command. Hader is now doing the same.
Siri first reads him an incoming email from a certain Prince Oseph, who has an interesting offer for him. Hader then uses Siri to dictate the answer. All this while having a snack, without touching his iPhone 6S in any way.
In previous Apple spots he also promoted Live Photos, for example, another novelty associated with the new iPhones.
Isn't the "Hey Siri" option only active when the iPhone is charging? Even in this commercial, as well as in the ones where Jamie Foxx performs, the phones do not charge. Is this some new iPhone 6s feature I missed? Thanks for the info.
Yes, it works on the 6S without charging, but I don't know if it also works on older models.
I have a 6 Plus and it only goes there while charging. It's funny that they present it as a "wow" feature for the 6s and iOS doesn't allow it even for older models that have supported it while charging for a long time. However, it may also require some additional hardware.
I was more bothered that it didn't work, I don't know from which ios anymore, when I put the iPhone 5 to my ear, Siri came up and I could tell who I wanted to call :-(((. I think it was ios 7 GRRRRR
on the iPhone 5 "Hey Siri" worked without charging until the second ios update, then not anymore :-(
