At the beginning of the week took place changes in Apple's top management. Craig Federighi and Dan Riccio took over the new positions, while Bob Mansfield was announced to be staying on. And it was his position that had now been partially exposed…

Indeed, Mansfield until June, when he announced his departure from Cupertino, held the role of senior vice president of hardware engineering at Apple. However, Dan Riccio took over that position on Tuesday, and since Mansfield isn't going anywhere after all, there were suddenly two senior vice presidents for the same segment.

However, this paradox only lasted a few days. Apple once again has only one senior vice president of hardware engineering, and that is Dan Riccio. Bob Mansfield lost the moniker and remains only a senior vice president and reports directly to the executive director, i.e. Tim Cook.

Apple has announced that Mansfield is staying with the company to participate in the development of future products, and one of the other reasons why Cook wanted to keep the key man of recent years is also the fact that he would be a huge asset to the competition in a possible collaboration. Mansfield's hardware knowledge and experience, which he acquired at Apple, would certainly be welcome at, for example, Samsung or HP.

In the end, however, there is no need to worry at Apple, Bob Mansfield remains, although we can only argue about his job description again. IN edited biography Mansfield is said to have joined Apple in 1999 to oversee the hardware teams, but that is no longer his remit. This division was taken over by Dan Riccio.

While we don't know exactly what Mansfield will be working on in the coming months, we have one thing for sure - Apple can be glad they kept him.
