So far in 2014, we haven't seen any new hardware products from Apple, so the Californian company decided to at least update its portfolio. To support sales of the less successful iPhone 5C, it now starts selling an 8GB model, and the old iPad 2 replaces the iPad 4 with a Retina display.
The superior iPad 2 replaces the model with a Retina display
Apple surprisingly left the iPad 2 in its lineup last fall after introducing the new iPad Air and the second-generation iPad mini with Retina display. The already outdated iPad 2 then acted as an eyesore in the store, when it had neither a Retina display nor a Lightning connector, moreover, Apple demanded too much money for it.
However, this is now changing, because Apple is returning to sales the iPad 4 with Retina display introduced in September 2012, so the entire portfolio of available iPads now has Lightning connectors, and only the first iPad mini does not have a Retina display. Apple has made a decision sell only the 16GB version of the iPad 4, the Wi-Fi model costs 9 crowns, the Cellular model costs 990 crowns. Prices are slightly higher than the iPad mini with Retina display.
The 8GB variant is supposed to support sales of the iPhone 5C
Since last September introduced iPhone 5C surely Apple promised much more. But as CEO Tim Cook stated at the beginning of this year, the demand for a colorful plastic phone is far from over did not meet expectations, and so now comes the menu update. This is nothing new for Apple during the life cycle of selected products, but we usually see models with a larger capacity.
Now Apple has bet on the opposite side of the coin, as it has only introduced the 8GB iPhone 5C, which is supposed to be the cheapest iPhone introduced last year and attract more people interested in the 5C. The iPhone 5C with 8GB capacity has not yet appeared in the Czech Apple Online Store, but it is already available in Great Britain for 429 pounds.
It is not yet clear whether the introduction of the cheaper iPhone 5C will cause the definitive retirement of the iPhone 4S, which is sold only in the 8GB version for 9 crowns.
[do action=”update” date=”18. 3. 16:30″/]PR department of Apple confirmed, that the 8GB iPhone 5C will not be offered in all countries. The more affordable plastic model can only be purchased by customers in Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia and China, i.e. Apple's largest markets.
14 days ago I was deciding whether to buy an iPad 2 or an Air, thank god you didn't end up being a jerk and bought an Air - I'd be tearing out the remaining hair on my head today
:) interesting observation. That the iPad 2 would be kept in the menu due to the greater marketability of the new model?
Rather, it was preserved due to good sales to the business world and schools. There, the cheaper price was the draw for teachers and businessmen, who bought them by the tens to hundreds. They will now be able to be more satisfied with the iPad with Retina Display, which will also definitely be faster in combination with iOS 7 and at the same price.
Either they are out or I don't know. Who will buy this overpriced old model with non-expandable 8!!! gb memory? Lowering the price would probably lower their ego, but this model is a complete waste.
Someone will buy it. They can't lower the price much, that would destroy the brand as such.
what would they do to destroy the brand?
they made an embarrassing piece of crap for a completely inappropriate price. the only thing that would be acceptable is to reduce the price below 10 thousand as it should have been from the beginning. they'd rather sell it at a low price than let it fall apart in their warehouses right?
I don't like this "price doesn't match" smart talk. I think Apple's marketing is well thought out. If anyone complains about the price, don't buy it... it always has been and always will be, forget about an Apple phone under ten grand. :) A bit of a utopia, don't you think?
It probably won't be utopia when an Apple phone is under ten thousand directly at their shop:

Kinda smart right??
Why? Because I write real facts and not drool?
Of course, he probably didn't mean a 3-year-old phone... :)
3 years? I would not say.
October 2011 - sorry - 2,5 years. :)
Well, almost no one buys him right now. I had the iP5C in my hands at the store today. Nasty tangled plastic back. How much advantage does this plastic have for most people against the Lumia 520- for 3,3?
If you think LUMIA is better, buy LUMIA and don't worry about it, there's no point in getting angry about the price, you won't do anything about it anyway. :)
Well, yes, I bought a Lumia. It's a nice surprise. It is enough for my daughter to go to school...
I already want a new Mac mini, dammit... :-( They are taking their time.
The problem is that it is almost a dead product in terms of marketing, even though I believe that the 5c still has potential. Apple's approach signals a lot - apple is not sure what it is doing. iPad3, half a year later iPad4, sales of outdated hardware iPad2, now 5c. Cook then makes chaos theory out of Apple and quite well…
The iPhone 5C 16GB costs CZK 12 in the Czech Republic, and you write that the 000GB version will cost CZK 8-13 in Czech money? Crap…..
I see a price of CZK 5 for the iPhone 16C 14GB. But that will be because I'm not looking on Heureka and in suspicious e-shops based in living rooms.
