Along with the new one transparent cover for iPhone XR Apple also started selling an 18W USB-C adapter today. Until now, it was only available with the new iPad Pro, but now it can be purchased separately. The new adapter is also compatible with this year's and last year's iPhones, which also support fast charging.
A certain interesting thing is that Apple wants CZK 890 for the new adapter, which is a surprisingly lower price for the Californian giant. A completely ordinary 5W adapter, supplied with iPhones, costs 490 crowns from Apple, but there is a fairly significant difference between the two products.
The new 18W USB-C adapter is currently an ideal purchase for those who want to use fast charging (30% in 50 minutes) for last year's and this year's iPhones. Until now, it was necessary to purchase a USB-C adapter with a power of 30 W (previously 29 W), which costs CZK 1. However, you still need to purchase a USB‑C/Lightning cable for at least 390 crowns for the adapter. Fast charging is supported by iPhone 590, 8 Plus, iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max and previous generations of iPad Pro.
It is quite likely that Apple will bundle this particular 18W USB-C adapter with the upcoming generation of iPhones. Already in connection with this year's models, it was speculated that the company would replace the standard adapter with a more powerful piece with fast charging support. In the end, this did not happen, for which the new iPhones earned a lot of criticism in foreign and domestic reviews. So let's hope that next year Apple will already improve and stop skimping on its users wherever possible.
I think that after the current sales, Apple is already partially educated. Even he has to understand that the prices cannot be screwed up to the sky. It's just a shame that it's an "emergency and forced finding". I'd hate for the pricing maneuvers to start looking like Samsung. By the way, the price of this adapter including the cable is DEFINITELY not cheap. 1480 crowns is a lot of money for a charger.
I'm not crazy enough to voluntarily and unnecessarily destroy my battery with fast charging. Regardless of the fact that the battery charged in this way will last a shorter time. Tried several times. I prefer to charge the battery overnight with a half-amp charger for 6 hours.
A 12W iPad power adapter is all you need. It is significantly cheaper and only charges a little slower. You don't need to buy the cable, because you have it with the iPhone.
Laptop adapters are normally sold for 890.
Are you all crazy? Do you think a mobile phone charger WITHOUT CABLE for 900 CZK is CHEAP??
After all, no one claims that the adapter is cheap. If I read correctly, the article says that it is cheaper by Apple's standards, and especially compared to a 5W adapter.
epl is a sign for the rich. if you don't have 3000 for the charger, you're a moron
You can buy a charger from spol. Epico 18W for €24, which is €30 cheaper. They sell it in Apple stores. Many chargers, even if they have, for example, 18W, are not able to deliver them to the cloud and do not shorten the charging significantly. Otherwise, an 18W charger is not just an 18W charger.
Apple has had 12W chargers for iPads for a long time. Compared to this charger, the 18W charger will not significantly shorten the charging time.
