Specifically, they took care of higher performance and lower energy consumption, which is especially appreciated by MacBook users due to their long life. But if we look back a few years, we come across a practically diametrically different situation - Macs, which again did not have that many supporters.

Adam Kos In the case of Macs, Apple made a number of mistakes that apple fans did not want to forgive. One of the biggest mistakes was an unbearable obsession with the constant thinning of the body. The giant from Cupertino thinned out for so long that he paid quite unpleasantly for it. A fundamental turning point came in 2016, when the new MacBook Pros underwent relatively fundamental changes. They significantly slimmed down their design and switched to two/four USB-C connectors instead of the previous connectors. And it was at this point that problems arose. Due to the overall design, the laptops could not be cooled effectively and thus faced overheating, which resulted in a significant decrease in performance.
Deficiencies and their solutions
To make matters worse, in the same period another, highly faulting imperfection was added to the aforementioned deficiency. We are, of course, talking about the so-called Butterfly keyboard. The latter used a different mechanism and was introduced for the same reason - so that Apple could minimize the lift of the keys and bring its laptop to perfection, which it perceived only from one side, namely according to how thin the device is. Unfortunately, the users themselves were not exactly happy with these changes twice. In subsequent generations, Apple tried to continue the newly set trend and gradually solve all the problems that appeared over time. But he could not get rid of the problems.
Although he improved the butterfly keyboard several times in recent years, when he promised it to be much more durable, he still had to abandon it in the final and return to the proven quality - a keyboard using the so-called scissor mechanism. The already mentioned obsession with thinning laptop bodies had a similar ending. The solution was brought only by the transition to Apple's own Silicon chips, which are significantly more economical and efficient, thanks to which overheating problems more or less disappeared. On the other hand, it is also evident that Apple has learned from all this. Although the chips are more economical, the redesigned 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros, which are equipped with M1 Pro/M1 Max chips, still have an even larger body than their predecessors.
The future of Macs
As we mentioned above, it seems that Apple has finally fixed the earlier problems of Macs. Since then, he has brought several models to the market, which enjoy worldwide popularity and high sales. This can be clearly seen in the total sales of computers. While other manufacturers faced a year-on-year decline, only Apple celebrated the increase.
An important milestone for the entire Mac segment will be the arrival of the expected Mac Pro. So far, there is a model with processors from Intel on offer. At the same time, it is the only Apple computer that has not yet seen the transition to Apple Silicon. But in the case of such a professional device, it is not a simple matter. That is why the question is how Apple will cope with this task and whether it can take our breath away again like with previous models.
