It will certainly help the quality of the sound of the mobile phone if the sound plays from several speakers, which can therefore play each one less loudly. However, this has nothing to do with "stereo" sound reproduction. It's just a quantization of the same sound.
Try putting 4 speakers in a line behind one another on some quality sound system, play a recording to test the stereo, stand in the same line in front of them, and say when you hear some sound going from left to right, for example. Then put the speakers next to each other, stand in front of them and observe the difference.

I disagree for one simple reason, try picking up an Xperia Z5 Premium and playing music from the front speakers, then play the same song in mono, you'll know the difference immediately.
Users of the Idol4S (in all its modifications) have a similar experience, I have not heard the 4S myself, the previous phones from TCL that I have ever held in my hands were not bad. For that reason, I have no need to question the benefit of stereo speakers in mobile phones.
My experience so far, both with the iPad 3gen with a mono speaker and with phones with one speaker compared to the iPad Pro or Z5Premium, is that I miss the second speaker when playing videos.

I don't consider myself a sheep, I think for myself, and the fact that Apple offers tuned software and smoothly functioning hardware in a solid symbiosis is simply true. I have a Samsung S6 and a Huawei Nexus at my company, they are not bad phones, but Android is less stable under heavy load and phones with this system simply perform worse. Compared to the iPhone, the Huawei camera is clearly at a lower level. I have a 6s 128gb and I won't change it because it has a higher potential than its use, but I don't see the slightest reason not to buy it when the time is right.
