Apple today released a minor iOS update labeled 8.1.3. It is available for iPhone, iPad and Pod touch and can be installed in the usual way through the item Software update in the device settings or via iTunes. The update includes bug fixes and system performance improvements, while Cupertino has also worked on compressing the entire update, which finally does not require so much free space during installation.
System iOS 8 debuted in September, ahead of the release of the new iPhones 6 and 6 Plus. Then came the key update 8.1 in October, which mainly came with support for the Apple Pay service. Later, Apple released two more minor updates. Released in November, iOS 8.1.1 brought improvements to the system on older devices such as the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. iOS 8.1.2, released in December, only fixed bugs, the most prominent of which was missing ringtones.
The latest iOS 8.1.3 is an update that brings bug fixes that have accumulated quite a lot during the sharp run of Apple's latest mobile operating system. Fixed issue with entering Apple ID password when activating iMessage and FaceTime services. Fixed a bug that caused apps to be missing in Spotlight search results, and gesture functionality to move between running apps on the iPad was also fixed. The last novelty of the update is the addition of new configuration options for the standardization of school tests
But the latest version of iOS is not only about news. An important factor is also the reduction of the demands of the update on the amount of free space. For the time being, iOS 8 is nowhere near making its way onto users' devices as quickly as it was with iOS 7 a year ago. Adoption is still below 70% and the relatively lukewarm reception was certainly caused in part by the system update's ridiculous claim on free memory space. By compressing the update, Apple is targeting precisely those who waited to update for the very reason that they did not have enough space on their iOS devices.
The update is expected to be available for the following devices:
- iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
- iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3
- iPod touch 5th generation
Another "big" iOS 8.2 update is already in the testing process, the domain of which will be the support of communication between the iPhone and the expected new Apple Watch. For this purpose, it will be in the system added standalone app, which will be used to pair both devices and conveniently manage the smart watch from Apple.
Hmm great! So, when updating to iOS 8.1.3, the iPhone 4s completely died and now it downloads the entire sw 1,46GB, so I either have to update, or restore to factory state and then restore from backups. And I should have had a free evening, instead I'll restore the iPhone, Apple is really starting to bother me!
Look, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but everything works for me. MacBook and iPhone 5s. After updating both also fine. Be aware that this is just a technology that is not flawless. Don't take it as a fact that apple is top. He is because others are worse. However, this does not mean that it is flawless.
that's a fact, switching to windows or android would be a lot of work and the problem is even more, but then again, it's a cheap and good phone that costs 5000 kc and ntb 10 kc. Here I have a phone for 000 and a comp of 20 KC, so I expect 000% functionality from it and if not, 50% service
It will be hands and intelligence…..
like I'm a moron :-o
apparently :-) demanding 100% functionality for every piece out of a million for any device and not from the cheapest one, just because it's more expensive is really the whole problem :-) In my opinion, to fan a great thing for 10 or 20 is just a finger to 100% produce millions of pieces it just doesn't work.
Oh, I'm a moron. Let's talk outside somewhere, how about that?
LOL, it's discussions
move on to a better one…..
I have no reason, macbook pro early 2011 17 inches for mega money, after 2 years they sent the graphics card, repair - replacement of the entire motherboard 15.000 CZK, in addition, there is a petition on the net for compensation to the customer, tens of thousands of users in the world have the same problem... iPhone repair 2500 CZK – yellow spots on the display, the service also told me that it is a common defect, the update will kill the iPhone and one has to deal with it all evening. This is really not perfect hw and sw for a dead price!
I ALSO THINK THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS AN APPLE AND IPHONE IS A GAY !!!
But only a little. :)
heterosexuals eat android and homosexuals eat apple, that's clear
I was recently at the meeting in Apliště and there was no hetero fighter there, that's a fact. Only gays :-)
Tim Cook is gay too, he admitted it! So
It's a gay company
Well, if they open representatives in CR, they will hire gays first, so I'm probably wrong about working at Apple
So you say you're hot.. you get a place and then with an agreed contract in hand you say you're BI and currently dating a girl…. ready handled..
The only one who is gay is you :D Apple offers luxury products and the fact that you are a sock and envy those who have it is your problem :D :D
Oven!!!
Michal Marek is sexy, call me if you're interested, man
So I'm wondering how old are you and what do you look like? I can give a date somewhere in the center of Prague. Write the phone on yourself, dik and kiss
The update went without a problem.
with ipad Air, after the transition from 811 to 813, accelerated (shortened) animations are known...
Somehow I don't understand the update size issue. Does this mean to me that after installing this update, the free space on the iPhone will increase due to some kind of "greasing" after the previous big update?
My understanding is that the iPhone won't tell me it needs 1GB of free space to install the update. So I won't have to smear photos just for the sake of updating.
and why don't you update via cable and iTunes if you have this problem?
I found the first bug. After the update, the contact link disappeared. I had manually connected LinkedIn contacts to the primary contacts (synchronized with the Exchange server) (let photos appear in the contacts). Probably all such links disappeared after upgrading from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3.
I am completely desperate. Since upgrading to 8.1. I am rejected by the hotel partner's booking.com/extranet site, saying that I have logged in from an unknown device or location. This is followed by a complex identity verification using a one-time PIN, and the next time I log in I am checked again. I tried changing the cookie settings, but it didn't help. From the other phone running on 7.1 it runs smoothly. Does anyone have experience with this? I am grateful for any advice in advance. Petr Pavienský
I obediently report that the iPhone 4s, 16GB runs fine even after this update...
on the subject, please shut up about the bullshit, it's everywhere like the plague, it doesn't even have to be on the consumer electronics forum, thank you
I completely agree... And I belong to the so-called minority :-)
I want to buy an iphone 4s 8gb, but I wonder how much free space will be left after updating to ios 8? thanks :)
It is not worth buying such an old iPhone…
thank you, but I'm not interested in what I should buy, I'd be interested in the answer
from 5S
well, I'm not an expert like (like the rest of you) the others, but instead of recommending what to buy or not to buy, when asked how much space iOS takes up on the Phone 4S, I guess that min. 1,5 giga... And now experts, please comment on the question clearly posed by the debaters (I quote almost without editing): "4s 8gb, but I wonder how much free space will remain after updating to ios 8?" :-)
Of the 8GB, roughly 6GB is available, but rather than asking about the capacity, Ondra may be happy for the response that they told him that it is no longer worth buying an iPhone 4S in any capacity Mr. Petra ;)
On the one hand, the capacity of 8GB is really quite small today, especially considering the size of applications, any saved photos, etc., then the 4S will probably no longer support iOS 9 and newer (due to components, etc.)
The interviewer (Mr. Ondra) asked how much free space he would have on the iPhone 4s... the answer was that he should not buy such an old iPhone... The interviewer wrote that he was not interested in what to buy, but that he was interested in the answer to his question... His answer was that 5S... I agree with you that it is better to buy a better "machine" (complete and unreserved agreement)! I just wanted someone to answer the interviewer's direct question... And finally, thanks to you, it happened... Thank you for that and I don't care that I'm supposedly "for the bull" :-) See the history of the debate...
I have a 4S, I updated to 8.1.3 yesterday. She dragged most of the photos to the computer and the free capacity is 1,9 GB.
Does anyone know why the new update took me 5,3 gb?
Before I did the update, I was able to send normal sms on my iPad mini 3. with connection via iPhone 6 and now this service cannot be set up after the update, don't you know what it is please?
How to set it up on iPhone?
I'm just installing on 6 plus, so I'm curious
Everything OK. Iphone 6 plus after update to 8.1.3. everything OK
iPhone 6Plus, free space 77,6GB to 78,3GB before update.
You don't know why you can't download the new ios 8.1.3. for iPhone 6?
after the update, the code lock does not work on my daughter's iPhone 4S. It's not on the menu at all. Thanks for the answers
One more problem. All photos are crap. Thanks a lot for the advice
I installed on 4S and it crashed and won't start. Someone can help. Thanks.
A two-button restart can help…
The early acceptance of the new system is not due to a lack of free space, but because the majority of users have understood that for each further update they will lose the value of a well-functioning product
My iPhone tells me to save them completely. At the same time, I deleted half of the photos, videos and music. I'll try restarting the phone and it sucks. Update on two things. Fact
Ipad 4 wifi, after the update the connection to the internet via wifi started dropping randomly. The icon shows the connection ok, but the page does not load. A reboot will help, but only for a while. Clearing network settings didn't help. There are plenty of similar cases on the Apple discussion forums. Even a clean reinstall probably won't help. My tablet is bricked... I don't know what to do, wait a few months for the next update? The tablet is 2 weeks past the end of the warranty, otherwise I would throw it at them...
I had the same problem with my iPhone 6 plus, nothing helped. then I discovered the Wi-Fi radio on/off button on the back of the tp-link modem. I turned it off, then turned it on again. since then wifi without problem.
hello. I have a question, I updated the ipad 3 to ios 8.1.3 and when I want to delete the application, it seems to freeze. Flash the application and you can only restart it. Does anyone have experience with this, is it the version or does the ipad start to get angry? thanks a lot .
