The product range of Apple computers is quite scattered and even confusing after Apple's last keynote. The Californian company presented more or less only one new laptop during the entire presentation (if we squint, two) and left all other models unchanged. They were the hit of the evening new MacBook Pros, but they stood too alone. Apple forgot to bundle both new starter and end players with them.
The entry-level model to the world of Apple (portable) computers – the marginal 11-inch MacBook Air – is completely dead. His colleague with thirteen inches continues and is to be reckoned with for a while, but has remained practically unchanged for a long time. However, the MacBook Air continues to be the ticket to Apple computers for many customers, so it remains in the offer even though its equipment is no longer sufficient.
After Thursday's keynote, there are at least mixed feelings, and when we look at the matter from a distance, we must ask: is Apple really pushing us to use iPads more?
The cheapest MacBook Pro without touch panel it will cost 45 thousand crowns. For that price, you can easily buy a large iPad Pro, including complete equipment (Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard). For less than twenty thousand crowns, you can also buy an older iPad Air 2, again including accessories. Many people therefore have to reevaluate their attitude and think about what they expect from the device and whether an iPad would be enough for them. If only because it can be bought for half the price.
The 12-inch MacBook also enters the game, but the price of it remains very high, at almost forty thousand. The most affordable is the Mac mini, which you can buy from 15,000 crowns, but you need to add a monitor, keyboard and mouse to it, and you can easily spend more than 20,000 crowns.
In short, Apple just confirmed that iPads and mobile devices in general are much more important to it than computers. After all, it can also be seen in marketing and the interest of developers. Wherever Tim Cook goes, he has an iPad in his hand, and he has expressed himself more than once to the effect that he no longer sees a reason why anyone should buy a computer when the iPad is here. Although the Pro models can start at a high twenty thousand for a tablet, it is still not even half the price of the latest MacBook Pro.
The computer segment is experiencing a major slowdown, which could be sadly mentioned by iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros, which Apple did not say a word about and saddened more than one user. Apple is not only systematically pushing the most affordable MacBook Air out of the game, but has also completely forgotten about professional users, for whom the iMac or Mac Pro is often a machine for living. Many are now wondering if it is still worth waiting for new models, or not to join the Apple game and buy a new MacBook Pro and maybe two new displays from LG.
More than ever, customers must start to realize and evaluate what they actually expect from their device and what they want it for. And how much they are willing to invest in it. Want a cheap computer? Stick with the MacBook Air, but don't expect modern-day accoutrements. If that's what you want, buy a 12-inch MacBook, but you'll have to dig a little deeper into your pocket.
For many users, therefore, an iPad will become a real consideration instead, which is often sufficient for basic things such as surfing the Internet, watching social networks and consuming multimedia content. In addition, with iPads, you can be sure that Apple takes care of them regularly. Only if you eliminate all of the options mentioned above will the new MacBook Pro be open to you, which, however, especially due to its price, is currently set for the most demanding users.
..I would like to remind the author that computers other than Apple's are also being produced - moreover, they are starting to become significantly more interesting, see Microsoft's new product line.
In my opinion, it has been confirmed that Apple is now just a money machine - Mac development does not pay as much as iOS device development, therefore it is marginal and they introduced something "so as not to say".
On the subject of the iPad - people who own Macbooks Pro and use Apple computers for work (mostly in specific graphics programs) will not find an alternative in iPads for a long time, maybe never.
According to foreign forums, the topic of "hackintosh" will start to appear a lot, at least until Apple gets angry or until it kills the computer segment completely with other versions of macOS.
A product line from Mrkvosoft??? :) So you probably don't mean it, do you? I switched to an apple device after many years of using a classic PC and finally 5 or 6 years of installing a significantly more reasonable OS, which is Linux Ubuntu, and I have to say that macOS is simply different. And that's despite the fact that I'm driving an already, let's say, dusty "Mac mini (Late 2014)"! I will definitely wait for hrdw to upgrade and not run back 10 years to something that is significantly worse than Ubuntu or SuSe. If you use a mac, you can't write such nonsense. :)
Hackintosh is, I feel, non-Apple hardware with macOS. I have a feeling that people wanted to say that the hardware from Apple is extremely overpriced for what it offers, but no one really wants to give up the perfect macOS. So buy some high-end elsewhere and install macOS there.
Yes, but the writer a few comments above mentioned the new product line from MS and there the price is also elsewhere :)
Yes, but I also responded to "..until it kills the computer segment completely with other versions of macOS". I wouldn't buy carrot hrdw just on principle and for the same reason I once installed my first linux. In my opinion, Hackintosh is the same as Jailbreak for iPhone. I won't do it. If I put off the building iron enough, I'm satisfied :)
Agreement. I drive the highest configuration iMac 27″ 2011 with complete comfort, even with Widlema, on which I only occasionally play World of Tanks. I don't even see a reason to upgrade if they don't come up with some kind of innovation, which MS has now indicated
I mean seriously, have you seen the new Surface Studio? With a "puck" like from science fiction? Or a surface book equipped with a GTX 965 and a 16-hour battery life? Again with the ability to use the "puck" on it.
For me, Mrkvosoft went the way of nice design and towards the future and real innovation.
I myself still don't want to "touch" the display, but the possibility to tear off the display and go somewhere with it, or the added value of the puck in graphic applications, not to mention the implementation of 3D and virtual reality. I was very surprised and excited by Mrkvosoft.
But we are not an idealist, I know that most of these things will only work at 90 percent and will need a lot of fine-tuning and so on to fulfill the promised "sci-fi" image, but in my opinion it is several levels better than Apple, who talks for an hour about the invention of touch strips (several notebooks already had them, mainly gaming ones and perhaps in the form of a part of the keyboard with a touch display) and other pieces made the PRO series something only pleasing.
Yes, Microsoft software is an issue, we all know that for most it was often the main reason to switch to Apple.
Well, yeah :-D I think it's quite painful to see how someone put a lot of effort into just creating more stupidity. It's nice that something looks like something from sci-fi, but that's about it. In addition, the puck could be quiet software, unnecessary junk in addition. Maybe it seems interesting to someone who does not work in the presented areas, but I can already see a graphic designer practicing in front of a laid-down Studio with a puck with a bent back ala old-school drawing board. No, MS really never knew, and doesn't know now.
I agree. Indeed, there are manufacturers other than Apple who, unfortunately, deliver more powerful and interesting computers. I was looking forward to the new Macbook Pro, but given the equipment and the price, the mentioned hackintosh seems to be the optimal option. It's a shame, but that's how it is.
The problem is in the OS: In terms of HW, Apple is not catching up and is throwing away everything it can because of commerce, but OSX (macOS) is still unattainable (I work for a long time on all three extended platforms in parallel and I simply cannot see it otherwise)...
You're right. hackintosh is one of the things i will focus on soon. I am afraid of problems related to updating the system, etc. However, I am not able to choose from the current Mac / Macbook menu :(
I tried the Hackintosh and it was pretty straightforward - as long as I followed the components exactly (so I put together a PC, not a laptop).
Soon it will be the only option as you use the only thing that remains up to date from Apple's portfolio - i.e. OSX (macOS).
I have a 15-inch Lenovo laptop, 4-core 3.8GHz processor, 32GB of memory, 2880xneco display, macOS, almost everything works and I'm delighted. The price is about five times higher than the high-end MacbookPro...
Because there is no need to worry about hackintosh even with a laptop
Hello jardo, can you write the type of your Lenovo, I'll take a look and compare.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-W541-15-6-3K-Core-i7-4810MQ-2-8Ghz-20GB-256GB-SSD-Quadro-K2100M-/182331646393?hash=item2a73d021b9:g:A2cAAOSwHsRYEmDb
I bought a similar one for about $850. It is necessary to watch and guard it a little. It was "Manufacturer Refurbished" but looked brand new - you wouldn't know the part. Apparently returned shortly after purchase and unused.
The performance is amazing, macOS works beautifully, I expanded the memory to 32GB (I don't understand why the new Macbooks can't do it).
Well, I can't agree that the iPad is half the price.
MacBook 12″ costs 40000 with 256GB – iPad Pro with 256GB, keyboard and pencil costs 42000.
Well, if you compare it - the iPad still only has iOS - fine for most events, but sometimes you need something that iOS can't handle and you need a full macOS.
Same size and weight.
iPad is better for reading websites in bed, MacBook is better for work – emails, texts and full software.
In the same way, it cannot be said that even the most powerful MacBook Pro 15" could partially replace a Mac Pro that has not been updated for years - that's nonsense - a Xeon, two professional graphics and up to 64GB of ECC RAM, it's simply completely different from a MacBook Pro.
Personally, I would see Apple adjusting the pricing and portfolio.
Give a MacBook 12 for 30000 - after all, the 2015 and 2016 models were sold out for this price in the spring, and the flat has a different CPU, so there is no question of any real increase in performance. Keep it as a step-up model instead of Air.
For the iPad Pro, making accessories cheaper is out of the question.
MacBook Pro without TB - for 45000 no OK why not.
MacBook Pro with TB and TID from 55000 - it's enough, but in my opinion they should update the HW to the current one as soon as possible - maybe in the spring and offer the option of 4GB RAM thanks to DDR32.
Throwing everything else away - the Air 11 is gone, but I'd get rid of the 13 and the older MacBook Pro gone too.
Now it's a mess and either they want to push news or they don't know what they want when they leave the old machines.
Of course, update your iMac and Mac Pro as soon as possible.
I agree with most. I have a 9,7 ipad pro myself and do the vast majority of things on it. I just often cut in fcp and sometimes ps, etc. Regarding fcp, there is no replacement for ipad, and ps is still much more compatible with macos. I was kind of hoping that the Macbook would be supplemented with a 14-inch variant. Pricewise, it would make sense for me 30k 12-inch and 35k 14-inch. In addition, I was also hoping for Macbooks for 14 (in which the return of a dedicated graphics card would already go) for a starting price of 40k as before and a larger model for 45k. I would leave the prices of the iPad pro if the basis was 64gb and the lte module. The price of the keyboard is really excessive. The buyer of the pencil will justify the price. Mac pro and iMac really deserve an update. The iMac should mainly stop using slow spinning disks and its price should stabilize at 40k for the smaller and 50k for the larger. .I would easily drop the Mac mini from the menu. As has been said, apple is pushing iPads as an input device, and the Mac mini, intended as a computer for the undemanding, is no longer necessary.
Yep, that's right.
I was also hoping for a bigger MacBook 13-14″ with Touch ID instead of the trimmed down PRO 13 – mainly because of the passive cooling.
The iPad isn't bad, but sometimes you want to download something, unpack it or write something longer, and here you run into limitations.
Personally, I see the iPad as a nice accessory.
Exactly 14 macbook could be even more elegant and portable.
Screw it, there's nothing else to say.
Apple has practically killed everything older than the latest MBP for professionals. The reason is the incompatible connector with all older devices. Changing every moment of the reduction is nerve-wracking. For example, they removed the ethernet connector on retina MBPs and it was necessary to buy a thunderbolt adapter. Now we need another adapter to USB C. Or an adapter from USB C to thunderbolt :-)
If USB C (thunderbolt 3) is to be the future, they should replace it on all devices at once. In other words, update the Mac Pro, iMac, mac mini and 12″ macbook. The MacBook Air could already be removed from the menu. He's already dead. Now everything with OS X is obsolete except the latest MBP.
And as for the latest MBP, the limit for professionals can be just 16GB of RAM without the possibility of paying for more. For graphic designers, 16GB of RAM may be small.
iPad Pro will not replace a professional mbp even by chance. I would like to see how someone would compile something on the iPad. Or he was debugging some website and had other systems running virtually.
The new Surface Studio is far better for graphic artists than the iPad Pro with maximum equipment and full accessories.
Apple claims that the iPad is enough for you, so it's just enough for you!
otherwise, I read somewhere that the limitation to 16 GB is due to energy saving. If that's true, it's definitely not a PRO device.
It's a PRO in its thin portable class :)
Hey, I wonder when Apple will bring XCode and Terminal to the iPad. And also virtualization and other functions that developers need.
I also read about the 16GB RAM. If they put Kabylake and DDR4 RAM there, it wouldn't be a problem in terms of energy consumption. But Apple put more than a year old Skylake in the new Macbook Pro, so 16GB RAM is the maximum :-(
I'm curious about the new Surface Studio, but I already have reservations about the puck rolling on the table and then on the display, and somehow I don't trust MS that it will work as it should, the price isn't too much either... we'll see
I can imagine that the user controls the puck with his left hand and draws something on the touch screen with his right. If professional programs support the button, it will definitely be easier to work with than drawing by touch on an iPad or with a mouse or touchpad on an iMac.
I think that Microsoft with the puck has overtaken Apple with the touch bar in innovation this time. The Surface Studio is priced the same as the usable iMac. And the 13″ iPad Pro really can't compete with the Surface Studio.
I am not of the same opinion. And whether something will happen or not is just a guess. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, is great for drawing with a pencil, but it's still small. Why draw by touch? With the puck, it bothers me that it will roll on the table and then I will put it on the display where it is also driven. This only results in a scratched display from stuck dust and fine debris.
Due to the strict sandboxing in iOS, the iPad is useless as a substitute for a small laptop. On a normal computer, it must be possible to work on ONE file with several applications without me copying it like crazy. And there are other limitations.
I'm writing about it.. after all, Apple has somehow already solved this, but the application has to support it. Files no longer need to be copied to each app separately
Well, he didn't solve that. The only way to solve it is that all those applications use the same cloud - then it is synchronized with it.
That is also an option, but it also works in a different way when it only switches to another application but the file is not copied
The iPad isn't useful for anything in the long term because iOS:
• office applications (I tried Word, Pages and GDocs) are still very bastardized, they can't insert an unbreakable space
• you can't use a browser kernel other than Safari
• cannot share one file between multiple applications
• cannot play movies downloaded from anywhere other than iTunes (codecs)
• you cannot simply download and extract a ZIP file downloaded from the Internet. Let alone RAR.
• DOESN'T HAVE MULTIPLE USER SUPPORT, which both Android and Windows have and it makes sense on the iPad - should I buy four iPads for the family? When iPads are generally used so sporadically?
The iPad is really just a cake for media consumption - reading, watching the part of movies that is on iTunes, YouTube, some really simple games. Simple emails for that.
PS: I forgot, iOS doesn't allow background app functionality, I mean full - downloading something, calculating when the screen is off.
I can play movies downloaded from elsewhere, e.g. VLC and others, zip and rar will be unpacked by many applications I use regularly. office applications are still in trouble, even though it's already much better - why not try Office? I have the feeling that one file can already be shared between applications on the latest iPads. At least some option was presented with it no longer copying multiple times to each app.
and how do you download the movie directly to the ipad? I also have an iPad and it's a portable movie player and e-mail viewer for me on vacation. I always switch to a computer for real work. unless macOS runs on the ipad, until then I will always have to push.
Download the iCab mobile browser, download the movie in it and then let it open in any player.
I also forgot about the impossibility of any application running in the background when the display is off. So, for example, Spotify starts updating offline playlists just when I turn it on and want to go. More precisely, iOS allows two minutes to turn off the display, then the application can no longer download. Compare with Android
This is true and it is at the expense of battery saving, but in the settings (now I don't know if iOS or directly in some applications) it was possible to set the background work. But again, it won't happen that something unknowingly sucks out the battery
This is not true. There is an API for that, it's just that the app can't/hasn't implemented it.
thanks i'll try it. 2 dollars is basically no price, it's a shame that the ipad itself doesn't know that.
One of the many options is to use the iCabmobile browser, which has been available for many years. It's interesting that you judge the work based on whether it can download a movie ;)
AC3 codec is not available in VLC. It is used by most films obtained from "other sources".
I'm not talking about the fact that there is NO SINGLE torrent client on iOS.
Word on iOS is still a tricked-out version of full Word - see my unbreakable space example
That was an example of the statement that you can't play movies - you can. AC3 is used by others. AVPlayerHD, for example, others also have this codec. Even on a computer, not every player will play everything
Hw battle has probably been going since Apple ever existed. Hw today costs nothing, in terms of cents and dollars, the biggest thing that costs the most money is, of course, development and people. And none of you here understand. If I buy a laptop with Windows, what will be there? Nothing, this computer and this...that's all. When I unpack the mac, I have everything there for photos, videos, emails, music, and free future development of both their office and os development for free. If I had to buy all of this for Windows, I wouldn't be able to pay for it, and office for students costs an idiotic 2,5k per year, with the impossibility of buying only Word. Not to mention that Widle is not free. Did anyone understand that you pay for all software and optimization for the computer, and what are you doing? If you don't torrent, you won't pay
He didn't understand. I have a hackintosh, but I also bought a mac mini that I don't use. I just wanted to have a clear conscience. The council divided them enormously in price
Yes, that's true, but only partially. I also already buy a laptop or PC with Widlema and it is already included in the price. Many manufacturers also provide additional programs included in the price. Sometimes they are good :)
Unfortunately, Apple's last Keynote confirmed that Apple's leadership is probably on crack... I can't explain it any other way. I'm a rock fan and Apple user, I've been treading and waiting for the last 2 years. What to replace the existing iMac 27″ 2011. There is simply nothing, the leap in HW is miserable, if it should be worth it, the iMac will cost 80. This is expensive even for companies, let alone for individuals.
I used to start on a Mac mini. Unfortunately, the current offer/price is really a HW mockery. MacBook the same. Mac Book pro. Well 13″ is really not enough for me, 15″ 73990,- omg wtf lol. This is really overkill.
So instead of all that, I'm supposed to be the entry level for Apple customers, the iPad. I had the first iPad, then the second. I now have an iPad AIR. Access to keynote, numbers, pages? only at least when I need to transfer a document prepared to the Mac. I also pay for office 365, not the iPad, for me it is a device for consuming content, videos, games and browsing the net. That's all. If it should be of any use: desktops, keyboards, mouse, at least 13″, user accounts!!!… but isn’t that a laptop? By the way, the iPad is the last price/performance really very interesting device. Great battery life, it's light, relatively powerful. I have nothing against the iPad as long as someone doesn't make something out of it that it really isn't.
TouchBar, I'm judging without seeing it. But ergonomically, they can't even be serious. I look at the display, I look at the touchbar, at the display at the touchbar...
I have a 27 iMac 2011″ and it cost 70K too. iPad only Pro for work and even so small. The TouchBar is also a bit pointless in my opinion, but I can also imagine that it will make some functions available faster. And looking at it, for example, when it offers words while typing is also not completely out of the question for those who look at the keyboard while typing.
I can definitely recommend switching to an iMac 5K... I was pushed into it a year ago when I couldn't find a replacement for a MacBook Pro 17″ 2010 (mainly because of the disk capacity) and I can't praise myself enough. I will solve the regular office of the robot on an iPad Mini 4 plus an external keyboard. Cheap RAM can be bought into the iMac and a person has 32GB "for a slap in the face" and that computer can handle incredible things. From 4K or I laughed at the 5K monitor, but I would never want the usual "grain" again. Necessity for DTP and incredible acceleration of work. But even for other work, the delicacy of the display is a caress for the eyes. And I am sure that it will be a fast computer even in 3 years. Sell the current iMac to whoever you can :) Otherwise, Apple's offer is worth the big h...o. Terrible what they show. Even the presentations themselves are pathetic and have no clout...
is it worth buying refurbished ones or is it full on apple.... apple will try to hold out from the customer
Perhaps you don't think it's important that the IPad is able to replace a computer. I wonder if Tim Cook has ever tried to give a presentation on an iPad? A year ago, my first Macbook 2008 unibody deservedly went to rest. Since then I have been waiting for a reasonable laptop and I work on an iPad. I'm not a user, I don't make graphics, I don't cut videos, I don't edit people. And he can beat me with it. I can't download a movie, I can't write with 6 fingers, let alone 5. After 220 minutes of the keynote, my blood pressure is 5. I can't unzip the rar zip.. Why not a Macbook air/Macbook? I'm buying a computer for 2008+ years, the first one is a dinosaur with a display from 8, the second one I'm afraid won't last long in terms of performance, and I'm also pessimistic about life. The new MBP design is ok, the display is ok, the trackpad is ok, I don't mind the connectivity (even if the extra money for the magsafe is what it will cost and one reduction to usbA is not ideal) Ram 256gb is good for the phone, the same XNUMXgb disk. I think the strip is good for a headache and I don't go to Starbucks, but we'll see, the fingerprint reader on the unlock is fine. The price is a bad joke. I understand that development costs something, including MacOS and accessories, but a few years ago it was a lot cheaper and Mac was not selling much, so is it shareholder greed? The most important question, is there a reasonable alternative?
Both zip and rar can be extracted using the File Manager app
For these files, Phone Drive worked better for me
you can download the rar and unzip the movie, but I don't understand. It's probably better on the Pro version, but it's still not suitable for working with many MB if not GB of data and I'm already quite used to the 27″. So far, it's still a bit of a pain in the ass, even though for many people it can be fully sufficient for their work.
how do I download a movie and how do I transfer it to the app I use to play movies? thanks for the advice
When it comes to downloading movies, you can use iCabMobile. The function or icon: use in the application - I assume you already know it. Basic formats will be played by iCab itself
Replacing a laptop with an iPad will not be easy. I bought an IpadPro 12,9. Pencil and painting great, AutoCAD 360 for basic viewing and editing too. But, for example, in the game World of Tanks, the graphics do not keep up (even if they are reduced to a minimum), they chop and it is practically impossible to play. I did not expect.
do you mean wot blitz? It can also be played fairly well on the iPad3, and the real WOT isn't on iOS, or am I wrong? But I would understand the lack of performance there.
Yes, WOT Blitz is surprisingly choppy on iPadPro. See http://forum.wotblitz.eu/index.php?/topic/25856-optimal-graphics-settings-on-ipad-pro/
I assume that in many cases an iPad is sufficient instead of a Mac or a PC. Ours (generation 60+) mainly use iPads for everything. PC really only for the bank and photo printing and everything connected with Office and printing. Office on the iPad is OK, but the user comfort is not yet 100%. What bothers me more is that the iPad doesn't have a user interface. profiles. Mom has an iPad registered to her, and she runs everything from FB, Pinterest and everything. accounts in her name only. Dad only takes it for Safari and sometimes YT. Why doesn't Apple have profiles for all family members? Now we will be getting him an iPad just for him. As I say iPad ==) for parents OK.
But we are the generation (30+) hergot!:) Who grew up on computers and I want a computer at home! I have a desktop PC and I wanted to buy MB Pro after its introduction (I mainly use PC performance for games, otherwise a lowend is enough). But the price of 46k (without Touch Bar) is just too much.:( Macbook for the price of around 40k. is also too much.
It amazes me how big a company Apple is. I understand that Jony Ive is working on a few products at the same time and can't do everything. But is it so hard to move part of the human resources to the MB Air upgrade as well? Thinner display bezels, smaller chassis, processor upgrades, etc…? They don't have engineers who would do this and then there? Here you have it!
They don't have, or rather they don't want to. Unfortunately, I probably won't choose Apple and will buy ntb with W10 even if I didn't want to.:( And as Tim Cook indicated comparing the new MB Pro with MB Air, they don't intend to upgrade the Air anymore. But pay 30k for MB Air (well on sale for 25k) I don't want to work with out-of-date HW. Don't get mad at me, but not this. If they made the Macbook 12" cheaper to 30k, I would consider it. That way it will be expensive even for the amics themselves.:/
In conclusion ==) there is no problem to give 46k for MB Pro. But is it really worth that much money?
Unfortunately not… At least for me.
The idea that the iPad will replace my computer is naive. You can't even attach a stupid cape to it. That goes to the Lenovo Pad for 2000, which they gave me at the bank. I'd rather reach for my laptop today. I have an old HP with an SSD drive. I open the lid, press the button and in 2 seconds I can work. The text intake is significantly faster, the comfort of work, especially on the knees or in bed, is better. I can tilt the screen as I want and I don't have to hold anything. If someone needs a Mac Book that starts from sleep in a few seconds and lasts for 12 hours, why would they use a tablet for most things. That has no meaning. Only a minimum of things are better on a tablet and now I can't even think of them. In addition, if you have a larger phone. Then the tablet is completely useless. What worked best for me was the combination of a inflated desktop, an ultraportable notebook and a large phone. What I can't do on the phone, I can do on a notepad. When I need performance, a large monitor and a comfortable ergonomic seat, I use the desktop. But everyone is different.
The iPad can't replace the Mac, it can't as long as it has the system from the phone. Any attempt to do more complex work on the iPad is scratching with the left foot behind the right ear, going through lengthy pointless procedures and a certain entry into the moron. But someone may enjoy self-harming, well :)
The iPad is good for specialized tasks and content consumption, doing anything else on it in its current form is woefully inefficient and therefore completely pointless.
I think that this article is here mainly with the aim of sparking a discussion and the resulting benefits for the web ;) From time to time one will appear here. It's clear that Apple is putting emphasis on its mobile business, because the set of users it can reach is much larger than the set of people who can't do without a Mac. Thank you Captain Obvious :) For some, an iPad is enough, and for those who don't, it simply won't be enough, even if Tim Cook himself convinced them about it 100 times.
I can imagine using an iPad if:
– batch processing of photos will be solved
– it will be possible to update Garmin watches via iPad
– it will be possible to update the camera and lenses via the iPad
– export of photos to my website will be solved
Otherwise, I can get by with an iPad and any external keyboard. I don't need a computer for anything else.
After all, a year ago I tried it for about two months without a computer, just on my phone and iPad. It was great to take photos on the iPad - because it didn't force me to come up with silly presets in lightroom and it forced me to pay more attention to what I was shooting.
I can imagine using the iPad if:
– it can replace a PC
the fact that air is insufficient is also a possible stupid statement, the retina is indeed a nice thing, but really only the squeamishness on the other side of usb is still needed. I think and I know that the air has enough power for practically anything and when we compare it, the new laptop with the inexplicable name PRO is much worse in terms of price and connectivity and the only thing I have a problem with is the retina and the MOST important thing is the thinness because it was at the keynote taken into account as the most important thing... I want to throw up on the other hand what makes you buy a new one? I myself use a macbook pro 17 latte 2011 with ssd because they haven't released anything better yet... sad that in a few years they will come with those. that their laptop is 5mm high, it's called super extra because it doesn't have a rear port and you need to connect a keyboard and a monitor to it like a raspberry pi
Microsoft cracked the apple and some people can't stomach it.:-)) Apple has been losing steam lately....
Clearly. And are you better now? :-)
damn it's absolutely true and I'm an apple user. very disappointed and angry apple user. I am neither a graphic designer, nor a video editor, nor a programmer, and imagine, I would have at best half productivity on an iPad. Without mouse or at least a full day's work is unthinkable for me without a touchpad. Two years ago, I bought the most powerful (if I'm not counting custom) macbook pro 15" and it cost me 2050€ without tax. now I pay €2600 for the same one and I don't get a single port compatible with my accessories, I don't use the touchbar because I'm on ext. monitor, keyboard and mice and size and weight give me shit when I have it lying on the table all day. Total fail on my part and no usb-c advantage is unconvincing.
Of course, I understand the anger over the price and USB-C, but the market is for everyone to choose what they need, what they "must have" and how much they are willing to invest in it. If I really need it and I know that I will earn money for it, then the price or the need for some reductions will not deter me in any way. Every person has it differently. For example, I already know today that the iPad PRO is more than enough for my needs, but I only came to this over time. There were times when I "had to have" every year the newest, most inflated machine for 100.000 with the largest possible display - at that time Apple 30 for some 45000 and a macbook PRO for another 70.000. But then I found out that I won't use even 10% of what it can do, I won't even use the current Air to its full potential. And I believe that over time this will happen to, if not most, then certainly many other users. The "must have" factor is sometimes overlooked. :)
after all, he is right.
and either we bury our heads in the sand and we'll pat ourselves on the back and buy their new nonsense (laptops without magsafe, purposefully truncated interface) and it won't change,
or apple will get a box due to weak sales and maybe even come up with something worthy of the macbook pro name and a worthy successor to aira.
More and more, I also wonder if I still need a computer for my current job today. And more and more often I answer myself that not anymore. So my gradual transition to iPad PRO is becoming more and more real. Doesn't it have a mouse? For God's sake, what's the point of the touch screen? Memory? 256 GB is more than enough for a regular user and an office rat, and if not, today's clouds usually offer terabytes and more for a few pennies. Connectivity to external media? What is it today? Honestly, I don't know many people who still use CDs, DVDs and nowadays not even all kinds of USB dongles, SD cards, etc. And in a few years it will all be a bit further away. Of course, for professional graphics, videos, etc., you still need a decent performance and machine, memory and backups on x disks, but how many real professionals are there? Fraction. And they earn money for the machine with their work and don't care much about the price. So I understand and understand Apple's direction towards the iPad PRO.
But that's exactly what it is - a free user - yes.
But anyone who has it for something other than content consumption has to limit themselves.
Even an office rat won't improve - writing off emails for 8 hours, creating and editing Excel spreadsheets all day, creating a complex document ten pages long with pictures, etc. - with the iPad, your performance will definitely decrease.
Yes, everything mentioned can be done on it, but more conveniently and quickly or at least comparable to a PC/Mac? No way..
..certainly no one doubts Apple's direction in recent years and everyone understands it - profit, share value.
Don't believe that they push us into the iPad because they think it's the best for us...no, it's the best for them.
Of course, stock value and profit come first. That's perfectly normal. And that profit will be ensured by the overwhelming majority of ordinary users. I understand that professionals have been used to being pampered for years and now they are especially angry after the launch of Microsoft Surface Studio, but Apple is perhaps not only about the iron, but mainly about the system and software. We'll see how Microsoft does. The studio looks luxurious, but it is too new and unfamiliar. So that it is not traditional Microsoft tinsel. I think it's too early to judge.
After the reviews and comments, I'm still sticking with Yosemite (MacRetina15 Late 2013) and I'll probably never leave iOS 9, so the decline has already started for me, except that from El Capitan they claim that their only goal is to debug the system - while the endurance decreases on battery and system agility.
Microsoft is still tinsel - just look at the Studio vs. hands-on, but I still think they show development and an effort to move towards the future (I'm personally very attracted to VR in all its forms), while Apple introduces a touch keyboard accessory, which has already been on many a gaming laptop, and into the software gradually adds features that could have been in Yosemite a long time ago. I don't see any real progress with them.
Ordinary users are pulling - but now it will become clear, in my opinion, ordinary users will be pulling in the form of mass orders of the last pieces of older MBs or Air, I don't believe that even in Western economies, ordinary users will be thirsty for notebooks for 2000 dollars, which will not offer anything worth the price defended.
The marketing information in the form of "the most online orders" does not convince me - it has already been mentioned somewhere, in the 3 years since the last presentation, online sales and pre-sales have become more widespread, and in my opinion, it is also the first time that it is not possible to buy a new MB straight away and it is necessary to pre-order and moreover, it is not written anywhere that it may not be true at all and Apple is just trying to silence negative reactions on forums and under articles.
I can see myself equipped with something that can handle virtual reality on the eGPU and this machine will last me another 4 years, if not longer, until then I can only hope that Apple will steer a little in the right direction (for me and not "regular mass users ").
ios is just not a working environment.
At the moment when you need to edit one document within several programs (indesign, photoshop, illustrator or presentation, image editing, text editor), the transition between individual software is much smoother on a full system.
It would make a lot of sense if pro ran on the x-axis.
