The Apple Watch won't arrive until spring next year, but Apple continues to reveal what its new watch will be capable of after releasing developer tools. They will not only display the time, but also the sunrise, stocks or the phase of the moon.
Apple is quietly expanding its marketing page with Apple Watch, where three new sections have now been added – time keeping, New ways to connect a Health & Fitness.
Not just a time indicator
In the Timekeeping section, Apple shows how widely the Watch will be used in terms of displayed data. In addition to the classic dial, which will have an infinite number of forms, including digital ones, etc., the apple watch will also show the so-called Complications. You will be able to display an alarm clock, moon phase, timer, calendar, stocks, weather or sunrise/sunset around the watch face.
Furthermore, Apple shows an abundance of so-called Faces, that is, in the form of dials and their wide possibility of customization. You can choose between chronographic, digital or very simple watches, but you can also choose how detailed you want the dial to be - from hours to milliseconds.
Wide range of communication options
New ways of communication that Apple Shows, we already knew most of it. Quick access to your closest friends by using the button next to the digital crown ensures you can connect with your friends as quickly as possible. You can communicate with them in addition to the classic ways (phoning, writing messages) also through drawing, tapping on the display or even through the heartbeat, but this is no longer news.
You will instantly know on your wrist if someone is sending you a message. A notification will appear across the entire screen and when you raise your hand, you will read the message. If you put your wrist back to the horizontal position, the notification will disappear. Responding to incoming messages should be similarly fast and intuitive - ideally you choose from the default responses or send a smiley, but you can also create your own response.
It should also be easy to manage e-mails on the Watch, which you can read on your wrist, assign a flag to them or delete them. For greater convenience when writing a reply, you can then turn on the iPhone and, thanks to the connection of both devices, continue where you left off in the Watch.
Apple writes about communicating with the Watch: “Not only will you receive and send messages, calls and email with greater ease and efficiency. But you will express yourself in new, fun and more personal ways. With Apple Watch, every interaction is less about reading words on a screen and more about making real connections.”
Measuring your activity
Also information from the section Health & Fitness Apple has revealed a lot before. Apple Watch will not only measure your activity when you do sports, but also when you climb stairs, walk your dog, and count how many times you stand up. Each day they will then present you with the results, whether you have met the set goals for movement and exercise, or whether you have not sat down all day.
If you fail to meet the goals, the Watch will notify you. It can also turn into your personal trainer, knowing exactly how you move and recommending how you should move. In connection with the iPhone and the Fitness application, you will then receive a complete report in a clear and comprehensive form on a larger display.
We have a lot of information about the Apple Watch they found out also a week ago when Apple released developer tools for its upcoming product. For now, the Apple Watch will only be able to be used in conjunction with an iPhone, and two types of resolutions are important for developers.
Apple Watch should be released in the spring of 2015, but the Californian company has not yet announced a closer date.
I'm really looking forward to it..
The forced connection with the iPhone is a deal breaker. Why should I bring a watch with me when I run, if I have to have an iPhone on my shoulder anyway? How do I go swimming with my iPhone in the pool? It does not make any sence.
I was looking forward to the Watch, I thought that I would finally not have to carry an iPhone on my shoulder when running, but without GPS, water resistance and with forced connectivity to the iPhone, the watch is useless, or rather useless for measuring the sports activities I described.
I'll probably have to invest in some real fitness watches from Garmin etc.
I see it exactly the same way, I was looking forward to the watch with the fact that I would be able to leave my phone at home for sports, but if without IP it is really just a watch, 10 thousand seems like hell enough for the luxury of not taking the phone out of my pocket but controlling it from the wrist..
You got it wrong! You can leave your iPhone at home when you go for a run. The watch itself is enough to measure the distance, heart rate and calories burned. Only sports that cannot be measured in steps will require an iPhone and GPS.
I don't know a sport that can be measured in steps, with all due respect to pedometer-watch manufacturers, it is an unsatisfactory thing for an athlete. we need ANTplus support, waterproofness when swimming, not showering, separate GPS, connectivity of already purchased sensors, an accelerometer that recognizes specific movements when swimming. until then we have to look for garmin 920 or 910.
I would wait a little longer, I admit that I understand all of this, but I don't understand that there is already speculation that there will be applications connected to the iPhone from the beginning and from about halfway through the year or later there will be own applications directly for the AppleWatch.
But GPS will not have Watch (at least in the first generation), so I personally have nothing to wait for. I'll go for something from Garmin, or I'll wait for the Fitbit Surge.
Also, of course I'm not making you wait for them, but speaking of the GPS (I don't follow all the leaks), it was rumored that the "sport version" should have GPS O_o, if not, that's really sad :(
I'm sorry, but you can't understand it. What is my step measurement for? When running, I need to know EXACTLY how far I ran, how much time/km I had, how steep I am when running uphill, i.e. knowing the elevation gain, etc. I can measure this objectively and compare it back only to help with the most accurate measurement possible with the help of GPS. The pedometer comes in handy. When swimming, the problem is not the lack of GPS, but water resistance.
I'm looking forward to the fitbit surge... it measures heart rate, has gps and is a regular watch, no bracelet...
So I'll probably get a TomTom Cardio ;)
I'm dealing with the same thing, whether it's a fitbit surge or a watch, mainly for measuring sports performance. But I didn't find if it would be possible to swim with it.
By all accounts, the garmin 920 is still the best buy!!! I expected to go to the iwatch, but it will probably only be a display, so we have to carry the phone with us. I was expecting ANTplus support and nothing, so all sensors have to go to the phone and from it to the cables, it's actually useless for an athlete
I thought the watch would be a real fool. Oh, I wasn't kidding. Such a toy for half a day...
Holy shit, honey.
Since it's already being discussed here, I will sell a Garmin Frorerunner 910XT according to the agreement and some sensors, if anyone is interested, write to wdc@seznam.cz. I want to upgrade to Edge 810.
PZAJ-I'VE NEVER SEEN A WATCH SO UGGLY
IT'S SOMARINA
JOBS MUST TURN IN HIS COFFIN
GOD THIS IS SUCH AN UNNICE AND POOR WATCH
HE WOULDN'T WANT THEM HOME EVEN IF THEY WALKED BY THEMSELVES
First, look in the mirror please.
you have capslock on
I didn't buy a fitbit/jawbone on purpose because I'm waiting for a watch. 2 years ago I declared here that when apple releases a watch, it will kill all these wearables on the hand. And soon it will be like that :). I look forward. – Shut up and take my money
God you are a tasteless moron
I think most people here are confusing the two platforms. Apple Watch is designed for all-day wear. Those fitness bracelets, especially those with GPS, are for sports activities. Anyone who thinks that a bracelet, or indeed any device, can keep track of the location all day long is wrong.
