Vratislav Holub The long-awaited MacBook Pro (2021) finally unveiled! After almost a year full of speculation, Apple showed us an amazing product, the MacBook Pro, on the occasion of today's Apple Event. It comes in two versions with a 14″ and 16″ screen, while its performance pushes the imaginary boundaries of current laptops. Anyway, the first noticeable change is the brand new design.
As we mentioned above, the main visible change is the new look. In any case, this can be observed even after opening the laptop, where Apple specifically removed the Touch Bar, which was quite controversial for a long time. To make matters worse, the keyboard is also moving forward and a more sophisticated Force Touch Trackpad is coming. Anyway, it certainly doesn't end here. At the same time, Apple has listened to the long-standing pleas of Apple users and is returning the good old ports to the new MacBook Pros. Specifically, we are talking about HDMI, an SD card reader and the MagSafe power connector, this time already the third generation, which can be magnetically attached to the laptop. There is also a 3,5mm jack connector with HiFi support and a total of three Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The display has also improved significantly. The surrounding frames have shrunk to just 3,5 millimeters and the familiar cut-out that we can recognize from iPhones, for example, has arrived. However, so that the cut-out does not interfere with work, it is always automatically covered by the top menu bar. In any case, the fundamental change is the arrival of the ProMotion display with an adaptive refresh rate that can go up to 120 Hz. The display itself also supports up to one billion colors and is called Liquid Retina XDR, while relying on mini-LED backlight technology. After all, Apple also uses this in the 12,9″ iPad Pro. The maximum brightness then reaches an incredible 1000 nits and the contrast ratio is 1:000, bringing it closer to OLED panels in terms of quality.

Another long-awaited change is the webcam, which finally offers 1080p resolution. It should also provide a 2x better image in the dark or in an environment with poorer lighting conditions. According to Apple, this is the best camera system ever on a Mac. In this direction, the microphones and speakers have also improved. The mentioned microphones have 60% less noise, while there are six speakers in the case of both models. It goes without saying that Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio are also supported.
We can observe a drastic increase especially in performance. Apple users can choose between chips for both models M1 Pro and M1 Max, whose processor is even 2x faster than the Intel Core i9 found in the last MacBook Pro 16″. The graphics processor has also been greatly improved. Compared to the GPU 5600M, it is 1 times more powerful in the case of the M2,5 Pro chip and 1 times more powerful in the case of the M4 Max. Compared to the original Intel Core i7 graphics processor, it is even 7x or 14x more powerful. Despite this extreme performance, however, the Mac remains energy-efficient and can last up to 21 hours on a single charge. But what if you need to charge quickly? Apple has a solution for this in the form of Fast Charge, thanks to which the device can be charged from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes. The MacBook Pro 14″ then starts at $1999, while the MacBook Pro 16″ will cost you $2499. Sales of the 13″ MacBook Pro with the M1 chip continue.
