When Apple introduced the revolutionary iPhone X in 2017, which offered Face ID instead of the iconic Home button with Touch ID fingerprint reader, it caused a lot of emotions. Apple users have practically divided into two camps, that is, those who perceive the change as a great progress, and those who, on the other hand, miss the convenient unlocking of the phone by placing a finger. However, Face ID brought with it one more huge advantage. Of course, we are talking about the display across the entire surface, which is literally a must for flagships these days. But the story of the convenient Touch ID fingerprint reader certainly does not end here.

Since then, apple growers have called for her return many times. There have even been several different talents that have hinted at the ongoing development of a reader built under the display, which would make it possible for there to be no compromises on the display side. In addition, the competition was able to come up with something similar a long time ago. A popular leaker and Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, came up with quite interesting information, according to which it was even now being considered to build Touch ID under the display of the iPhone 13. In addition, this proposal was also tested and there were (or still are) prototypes of apple phones that at the same time they offered Face ID and Touch ID.

According to available information, however, Apple swept this proposal off the table in the early stages of testing itself, which is why we can (for now) unfortunately forget about the iPhone 13 with a fingerprint reader under the display. Allegedly, the technology should not be prepared at a sufficiently high-quality level, which is why it is impossible to implement it in this year's generation of Apple phones. At the same time, it is not even certain whether we will ever see it at all. Indeed, Gurman believes that Apple's primary goal is to implement the Face ID system directly into the display, which could result in a significant reduction, or even the removal of the much-criticized upper notch.

In any case, the new generation of iPhone 13 will be revealed to the world in the coming weeks. The presentation should take place at the traditional September keynote, during which Apple will also show us the new Apple Watch Series 7 and AirPods 3 headphones. The Apple phones should then boast a more powerful chip, a better and larger photo module, a larger battery, a reduced top notch and a ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate in the case of the more expensive Pro models.
