At the beginning, only a handful of banks and financial institutions, but over time, the support of the service has grown to a full extent. This is also for the enormous success of users who can use it with iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and Mac computers. Apple Pay offers an easy, secure and private way to pay without the need to use a physical card or cash. You simply place your iPhone to the terminal and pay, you can also do so with an Apple watch, when after setting up Apple Pay in the Apple Watch application on your iPhone, you can start shopping in stores.
And even if the service works relatively reliably, you may see a message on the screen of your iPhone or iPad that Apple Pay requires an update. This usually happens after a system update or just restarting the device. In that case you cannot pay with Apple Pay and Wallet and won't be able to access them until you update your device to iOS or iPadOS. Some Wallet tickets may still be available even if payments are not available.

Before you start troubleshooting, back up your iPhone or iPad. Then follow these steps to reinstall iOS or iPadOS:
- Connect the device to the computer. Make sure you have the latest version of macOS or iTunes installed. On a Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15, open a Finder window. On a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14.4 and earlier or on a PC, open iTunes.
- If you're asked "Trust this computer?", unlock your device and tap Trust.
- Select your device.
- In the Finder, click General. Or in iTunes, click Summary and proceed as follows according to the system you are using. On a Mac Command-click Check for Updates. On Windows computer, Ctrl-click Check for Updates.
The computer will download and reinstall the current version of the software on the device. Do not disconnect the device from the computer until the download is complete. If the notification continues to appear, you cannot remove it at home and you must visit an authorized Apple Service.
