During today's "Questions and Answers" (Q&A) on YouTube, Robin Dua talked about the Google Wallet project. As the head of development of this ambitious payment method, Dua introduced several new features that the mentioned service should include in the near future. According to him, Google's electronic wallet should eventually acquire the ability to manage gift vouchers, receipts, tickets, tickets and the like. In short, services such as Google Wallet or Apple's Passbook could eventually completely replace physical wallets. Currently, Google's wallet allows you to make contactless payments and manage loyalty cards. Payment is supported by all major players in the field of payment cards.

This year, Apple presented iOS 6 at WWDC in June and with it a new feature called Passbook. This application will be directly integrated into the new iOS and will have practically the same functions as those that Google plans to include in its electronic wallet. The new Passbook service should be able to manage purchased airline tickets, tickets, cinema or theater tickets, loyalty cards and various barcodes or QR codes for applying discounts and the like. The fact that Passbook should also enable contactless payments is still being speculated, but some are already taking the presence of an NFC chip and payments through this novelty as a given and a certain part of the new iPhone.

If the rumors about the Passbook service and the NFC chip are confirmed in September, it looks like two parallel technologies will be born and another industry will be created in which Apple and Google will be irreconcilable rivals. The question is whether these services will really replace regular "old-school" wallets to a greater extent. If so, which of the two tech giants will play in the prime? Will the patent wars flare up again and will both sides dispute this technology? It's all in the stars for now. Let's hope that we will get at least some answers on the day of the introduction of the new iPhone, which is probably September 12.
