Apple's new tablet has been unveiled. So a new name has been added to the Apple family of products, i.e. iPad. You can find all the information you might be interested in about the Apple iPad in this article.
Display
The Apple iPad is above all a technological marvel. At first, the 9.7-inch IPS display with LED backlight dazzles. As with iPhones, this is a capacitive multi-touch display, so forget about using a stylus. The resolution of the iPad is 1024×768. There is also an anti-fingerprint layer, as we know from the iPhone 3GS. Since the iPad has a larger screen, Apple engineers have worked on the accuracy of gestures, and working with the iPad should be even more pleasant.
Dimensions and weight
The iPad is the perfect computer for traveling. Small, thin and also light. The shape of the iPad should help it fit comfortably in your hand. It measures 242,8mm in height, 189,7mm in length and should be 13,4mm tall. So it should be thinner than the Macbook Air. The model without the 3G chip weighs only 0,68 kg, the model with 3G 0,73 kg.
Performance and capacity
The iPad has a completely new processor, developed by Apple and called the Apple A4. This chip is clocked at 1Ghz and its biggest advantage is mainly low consumption. The tablet should last up to 10 hours of use, or if you just leave it lying around, it should last up to 1 month on. You will be able to buy an iPad with a capacity of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.
Connectivity
In addition, you can choose each of the models in two different versions. One only with WiFi (which, by the way, also supports the fast Nk network) and the second model will also include a 3G chip for data transfers. In this better model, you will also find assisted GPS. In addition, the iPad also includes a digital compass, accelerometer, automatic brightness control and Bluetooth.
The iPad does not lack a headphone jack, built-in speakers or a microphone. In addition, we also find a dock connector here, thanks to which we can synchronize the iPad, but we can also, for example, connect it to a special Apple keyboard - so we can turn it into a simple laptop. In addition, a very stylish iPad cover will also be sold.
What is missing..
The disappointment for me was certainly the implementation of a major intervention in the iPhone OS user environment, the introduction of more new gestures, or we did not see anywhere if progress was made with, for example, push notifications. The push notifications would need to be adjusted a bit. We didn't get the expected multitasking either, but battery life is still more important to me than running multiple apps. Currently, the lockscreen, which is completely empty, looks very bad. Hopefully Apple will do something about it soon and introduce lockscreen widgets for example.
Will the iPad even be sold in the Czech Republic?
The iPad raises many questions, but one thing struck me. The fact that Czech is not in the supported languages and there is not even a Czech dictionary I would still understand, but in the description we do not even find a Czech keyboard! This already seems like a problem. The list is probably not final, and this will probably change before the release in Europe.
When will it go on sale?
This brings us to when the tablet will go on sale. The iPad with WiFi should go on sale in the US at the end of March, the version with the 3G chip a month later. The iPad will reach the international market later, Steve Jobs would like to start sales in June, let's assume that in the Czech Republic we won't see it before August. (Update – in June/July plans should be available for operators outside the US, iPad should be available worldwide but earlier – source AppleInsider). On the other hand, at least in the US, the Apple iPad will be sold without a contract, so it should not be a problem to have an iPad imported.
Can I import it from the US?
But how it will be with the 3G version is different. The Apple iPad does not have a classic SIM card, but contains a micro SIM card. Personally, I have not heard of this sim card before, and something tells me that it is not a completely ordinary SIM card that I would get from Czech operators. So the only option is to buy the WiFi only version, but if any of you know more, please share with us in the comments.
Price
As can already be seen from the article, the Apple iPad will be sold in 6 different versions. Prices range from a nice $499 to $829.
Application
You can play the classic applications found in the Appstore (by the way, there are already more than 140 of them). They will then start in half size and you can enlarge them to the full screen via the 2x button if necessary. Of course, there will also be applications directly on the iPad, which will start immediately in fullscreen. Developers can download the new iPhone OS 3.2 development kit today and start developing for iPhone.
Ebook reader
With the start of sales, Apple will also open a special book store called the iBook Store. In it, you will be able to find, pay for and download a book as it is possible, for example, in the Appstore. Problem? Availability only in the US for now. Update - iPad with WiFi should be available within 60 days worldwide, with 3G chip within 90 days.
Office tools
Apple created the iWork office suite specifically for the iPad. It is similar to the well-known Microsoft Office, so the package includes Pages (Word), Numbers (Excel) and Keynote (Powerpoint). You can buy these apps individually for $9.99.
How do you like the Apple iPad? What excited you, what disappointed you? Tell us in the comments!
You guys read it one after the other :) Sometimes you confuse iPhone and iPad and the most expensive iPad will be $829, not $899.
But thanks for the summary, it was needed.

woko: the main thing is that the price in the table was correct :) and I think it's good that I don't get confused with the iPod yet. I lost my iPhone there once, it's fixed now. In second place is the iPhone properly because it is the iPhone OS. But thanks for the comments!

I wouldn't worry about those sim cards. It's just an even more stripped-down SIM card right down to the chip. If you don't get it directly from the operator (and as I think that our operators will not resist new applicants for services), then take a normal one and cut it :)

It didn't catch me….I have an iphone, I have a mac pro and I don't need this….I'd rather have an iPhone 4 or a new firmware…

For my work style (constantly moving from office to office, meetings, etc.) it is an ideal tool. Dragging a unfolded 12″ laptop is quite a stretch – not to mention the touchpad VS multitouch controls. I'm disappointed with the push notifications, I miss the missing multitasking less.

If I'm honest, I expected more. I was hoping that it would be equal to the features of the MacBook Pro or even more (I mean the use of the touch screen). To me, it looks purely like an enlarged iPhone, and I'm curious as to how it will be with the mechanical resistance of the relatively large display. I hope the manufacturer thought of this. It will probably be necessary to put it in cables with a reinforced wall, or to buy an original case.

Will it be possible to connect an iPhone 3gs to the iPad and use it as a modem...?

Since the iPad has bluetooth, it shouldn't be a problem.. Answer me
but we'll find out in March..

I'm already getting ready for it :) For my work, this is literally a godsend! No exaggeration :) Compact (in the sense of light) devices with multiple durability compared to notebooks/netbooks, controls that I know from iPhone and options that are absolutely sufficient for traveling between locations and remote computer/server management. You don't need a 3GHz processor, decent RAM and a large hard drive. That's enough for working with documents/internet and email. Not to mention the prices for such equipped devices.
I'll just think about whether to wait for the 3G version, when I have a phone with bluetooth and the possibility to share the Internet connection...
what I miss the most is the usb connector :(
I think there is something about a mini-sim card, but unfortunately it is probably not available with Czech operators http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/apple-ipads-micro-sim-explained/
Only for the micro SIM card, it is a type that is not produced in our country, but if you cut off the excess piece of the SIM card (by that I mean the plastic and not the reading part)!!!, it works normally. I have an iPad from the USA 64GB, Wifi +3G and everything is OK... :-D
I also bought an iPad, although only the wifi version, but it's great. I waited 2 weeks for it, but it arrived straight from the USA (thanks http://www.Shopguru.cz) and as soon as I took it out, I immediately fell in love with it. It's just a full replacement for a netbook that I haven't let go of. I have a computer for big work, an iPad is enough for everything else.
