Along with the 14 and 16" MacBook Pros, Apple also introduced the new Mac mini. You can now choose it not only with the M2 chip, but also with the M2 Pro chip. Although nothing has changed from a visual point of view, the higher configuration offers four Thunderbolt 4 ports. The price will also surprise you.

The Mac mini is not one of the bestsellers, but it certainly has its place in the Apple portfolio. After all, the same cannot be said about the Mac mini with an Intel processor, which we finally said goodbye to with the release of the new product. Apple no longer even sells the version with the M1 chip.

The M2 Mac mini includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, one HDMI port and gigabit Ethernet and, of course, still a 3,5mm headphone jack. The M2 Pro Mac mini adds two more Thunderbolt 4 ports, but the devices are the same in size, which also applies when compared to the M1 Mac mini.

Both configurations also include the presence of Wi-Fi 6E, which is currently the fastest wireless network standard (the general introduction of Wi-Fi 7 is not expected until next year). Both models also support Bluetooth 5.3. Compared to the previous generation with the M1 chip, Apple says the M2 Pro delivers up to 2,5x faster performance in Affinity Photo, 4,2x faster ProRes transcoding in Final Cut Pro, and up to 2,8x faster gameplay of Resident Evil Village. In addition, the M2 Pro model supports the connection of one 8K display.

M2 and M2 Pro Mac mini price and availability

All variants of the new Mac mini are already available as part of the pre-sale, the sharp sale will start on January 24. A big surprise, however, are the prices, which have dropped quite sharply compared to the M1 version. The base, which offers an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU with 8 GB of unified memory and 256 GB of SSD storage, costs only CZK 17. A higher configuration with a 490 GB SSD costs CZK 512.

If you have a crush on the M2 Pro Mac mini, its price starts at CZK 37. Behind it, you get a 990-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16 GB of unified memory and 16 GB of SSD storage. If you want more, you can go for a custom configuration, i.e. 512-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 19 GB of unified memory and 32 TB of SSD storage. But in this case, the price rises to a dizzying 8 CZK.
