Apple announced financial results for the fourth fiscal quarter of this year, i.e. for the period from the beginning of July to the end of September. Although the analysts' forecasts were not optimistic, in the end, in terms of revenues, this is the best 3rd quarter of the year in the company's history. The services segment performed particularly well, where Apple once again recorded record sales.

During the said period, Apple reported revenues of $64 billion on a net profit of $13,7 billion. In the case of income, this is a year-on-year increase - in the same quarter last year, Apple earned $62,9 billion. On the contrary, the net profit is $400 million lower - for Q4 2018, Apple achieved a net profit of $14,1 billion.

With this quarter, Apple closed out another fiscal year, during which it recorded revenues of $260,2 billion and cash flow of $55,3 billion over the course of the year. Last year was slightly more positive for the Californian company, during which it earned $265,5 billion and had a net profit of $59,5 billion.

Fiscal year 2019 was the first ever when Apple no longer disclosed specific numbers of iPhones, iPads or Macs sold. As a compensation, he started reporting revenues from individual segments, and it is therefore up to the analysts themselves to calculate approximately how many pieces of individual products were sold during the quarter.

Revenues by segment for Q4 2019:

  • iPhone: $33,36 billion
  • Services: $12,5 billion
  • Mac: $6,99 billion
  • Smart accessories and accessories: $6,52 billion
  • iPad: $4,66 billion

The figures released confirm that the iPhone continues to be the most profitable segment ever for the company by a wide margin. However, with each quarter, services are getting closer to it, which also broke another record in terms of revenue - Apple has never earned more from services in one quarter. The launch of Apple Card, Apple News+ and the continuous expansion of Apple Pay played a significant part in this. In addition, revenue from the services should rise rapidly in the future, thanks to the launch of the Apple Arcade platform and the upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service, which will launch tomorrow, Friday, November 1.

After all, this is also why Tim Cook looks forward to a promising future and is looking forward to the next quarter, which, thanks to the pre-Christmas season, will be the company's most profitable of the entire year. During the financial results announcement, Apple's CEO said the following:

“With record service revenue, continued growth in the smart accessories segment, strong iPad and Apple Watch sales, we delivered our highest Q4 revenue ever to close out a groundbreaking fiscal 2019. I am very optimistic about what we have in store for the holiday season, whether it's the new generation of iPhones, AirPods Pro with noise cancellation or Apple TV+, which is just two days away from its launch. We have the best range of products and services we've ever had.”
