On April 20, Apple introduced the updated 11″ and 12,9″ iPad Pro with a few minor changes, but one really significant one. This, of course, is none other than equipping the Apple Silicon tablet with an M1 chip. The same is not only his heart MacBooks and Mac mini, but also the new iMac. It might seem that Apple has again brushed off the idea of merging the portfolio of tablets and computers.

Greg Joswiak and John Veliternian, i.e. head of marketing and head of hardware at Apple, gave an interview to the magazine this week The Independent and talked in it mainly about the new iPad Pro tablets. Indeed, the use of the ‌M1‌ chip naturally led to speculation about the merger of the ‌iPad‌ and Mac product lines, a topic that comes up again and again. Joswiak but again stated that a merger is not the company's goal.

Simply the best in the category

He claims that rather than merging the two product lines, Apple wants to provide the best solutions in each of them. It specifically mentions: "We're proud that we've worked really hard to create the best products in the category." Veliternian he added that Apple has no intention of restricting one device at the expense of the other. “We strive to make the best Mac we can. We also strive to make the best ‌iPad‌ we can," he said. Apple thus plans to continue to improve both product lines and does not deal with any theories about their possible merger.

The new ‌iPad Pro‌ has more power than is even necessary for a tablet. Because they don't have access to the really professional software, like for example Final Cut Pro. Joswiak i Veliternian however, they declined to comment on any questions about the software that might come sometime in the future. It is currently unknown if there is one in preparation. Joswiak but he added that the extra performance gives developers more room to find new ways to extend their applications. Translated, it means that we are not really to blame iPadOS for what they can't do, but the developers for not coming up with the right tools. But wouldn't it be nice to have an iPad with macOS and a MacBook with a touchscreen?

Will the M1 also be in iPhones?

Apple Silicon chips are also considered to be those of the "A" series, i.e. those in previous iPads and indeed iPhones. When asked why Apple equipped the new iPad Pro with the M1 chip, so Veliternian he answered quite logically: "Because the M1 is currently the best we have." So the question arises, will they replace the A-series chip with the M-series in the planned iPhones? Probably not, because the A-series chips have lower power consumption requirements after all, and the iPad has it, of course Vetsi than apple company phones.

Apple also introduced the new iPhone 12 Purple:

In the interview, however, there was also a statement regarding the mini-LED display. Reducing it to the size of an iPad Pro was said to be a big challenge, precisely because of the demands on its depth. That of the iPad even had to be expanded, even if only by a tiny 0,5 mm.
