No tasks, collecting points, overcoming levels or gaining experience, but just a simple game experience, building and establishing a relationship with nature and developing creativity. The Toca Nature game for children is characterized by all this. The developers of the Swedish studio Toca Boca are to blame for this. The game has been selected as the application of the week for this week and is therefore available for free download in the App Store.
The interactive game Toca Nature is intended primarily for children, but I think adults will also appreciate it. The purpose of the game is to build any nature on a square area in a fantasy world, including landscaping, animals and trees. For example, you can start by creating a lake with fish swimming in it. You will then create a mountain range and eventually reforest the entire area with various trees. Each tree is also assigned an animal, such as a bear, hare, fox, birds or deer. They will of course live in your created world.
How you create your own world depends only on your imagination. The principle of impermanence also works in the game, so you can destroy the whole world in a few moves and start again from the beginning. Once you have nature created, you can literally walk into it with a magnifying glass and see everything up close. However, the possibilities of the game do not end there, as you can then collect natural crops and feed them to your animals. They also maintain all the laws of nature, so they will run around your world in various ways, sleep or demand food themselves.
While playing, you will also be accompanied by soft sounds and natural melodies that pleasantly underline the game experience. Taca Nature is very safe for children, as the game does not contain any in-app purchases or hidden ads. You can let the children create and realize themselves creatively without any worries. As with any educational game, it is advisable to talk about the given world with the children afterwards and use the potential of the entire game.
In the game, I also appreciate that the children can take a close-up photo of any moment and save the image. The only thing that can be criticized about Toca Nature is that the world is too small and the colors are less sharp and expressive. On the other hand, the game offers a literally meditative experience and great creative potential.
