Another week is here and with it the regular free app. This time, Apple prepared a comic book game based on the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. The game is made by the well-known studio Marvel. Right off the bat, I have to say that when I first saw this game, I didn't really want to download it, let alone play it. I already expected that it would be another game title that riffs on movie themes and that annoying in-app purchases would be waiting for me everywhere. I must say that I was very wrong.

The game does not contain any in-app purchases, which is already indicated by the description of the game in the App Store. All I had to do is download the entire game to my device the first time I run it, and then I don't have to worry about anything, no internet connection, just play. The whole point of the game is to eliminate enemies with the help of your heroes.

At the beginning of the game, you will have only one at your disposal, but after a few tens of minutes of playing, you will already have a full number of four comic book heroes. Control is very simple. You always fight in an arena and only determine by dragging the cursor the direction of the attack on the given opponents. The game is strategic in its own way, as you have to think carefully about which hero to send where. Someone shoots from a distance, another is an expert in close combat, and so on. Add to that countless different improvements and special abilities that will increase over time.

In total, there are twenty-five characters available that you will gradually unlock. You can test their abilities and battle potential in more than sixty levels, which are divided into several game worlds. The first couple of laps were a breeze, but once the first defeat came, I thought hard about how I would lead my next attack. Because every hero has a life and once you lose it, you're out of luck and you have to keep fighting with the one you have left. The entire game is accompanied by various Guardians of the Galaxy comic stories or catchy melodies and songs.

Overall, I like the game, mainly because it's been a long time game of the week that doesn't have any in-app purchases. At the same time, it has the potential for long gameplay and great fun. It does not falter either in terms of design and is very clear. You are well versed in each character's inventory and everything is clearly understandable. No overwhelming user options or unnecessary settings. The game is compatible with all iOS devices and is completely free to download in the App Store.
