The post-apocalyptic sci-fi game EPOCH.2 has been heating up the App Store for some time now, but for the first time in a while we can find it completely free as part of the App of the Week. EPOCH.2 is a continuation of the first part, where we again meet the chosen robot EPOCH, whose task is to save the world from the invasion of other robots and various mechanical machines.

As in the previous part, here too we will meet Princess Amelia and other characters who will accompany us through the game and the entire story throughout the battle. After the opening mission, you will see Princess Amelia in a state of hibernation, i.e. deep sleep, and the protagonist of EPOCH will communicate with her through her hologram, which will give him tasks and instruct him what to do and, above all, what objects to find in his fight. EPOCH.2 offers a total of 16 missions in one campaign, with completing all missions unlocking the ability to complete the same battles on a harder difficulty.

Users who played the first part of this game will not recognize a significant difference in the gameplay and meaning of the whole game after starting the first mission of EPOCH.2. In each mission, different environments alternate, mostly different rubble of houses, cars, barricades, destroyed cities, behind which you and your robot will hide and destroy enemy machines. When shooting at an opponent, simply mark who you want to eliminate, then push the robot out of cover and shoot until the enemy is blown to pieces. When you manage to do some interesting combination of neutralizing enemies or without losing your own life, you will also see interesting slow motion sequences.

A complete arsenal of weapons will be at your disposal, from classic rifles and machine guns of all kinds to grenades and guided missiles. Also in the game options you will find a button for slow motion sequences, which are very effective and you can use them to your advantage against enemy robots, for example to gracefully avoid bullets or fire from machine guns. The game always automatically moves you to a new place and to a new barricade after shooting down all the enemies, so there is again zero possibility of free movement and free choice. This mode degrades EPOCH.2 to the style of fairground shooting or other similar games. The only move that overcomes the barricade is that if you manage to load the enemy's life well, a wheel will appear on their body, clicking on it will cause the EPOCH to jump into the air and take out the enemy face to face. Unfortunately, again without your involvement and the possibility of any choice.

Throughout the campaign, you have the opportunity to buy new equipment and weapons with collected points and money. In the same way, for each mission you will find symbols of small icons, where the developers recommend which weapons are suitable for the given mission. In addition, add a story and video trailers that start after each task won or enemies destroyed, but also at the beginning of each mission. During each mission, the game will automatically save your progress and it is clear that as soon as your enemies manage to get your life to a minimum, you end and play the mission from the beginning or the last checkpoint.

All this means that in terms of gameplay, the developers have not brought us many changes and we will have no choice but to be satisfied with what we have at our disposal. EPOCH.2 is therefore more of a relaxing shooter characterized by simplicity and interesting graphics. In addition, if you finish the campaign in EPOCH.2 once, it may not be the last time you turn on a higher difficulty. Sometimes you can play on an iPhone, another time on an iPad, EPOCH.2 is universal.
