Eight-bit games like Flappy Bird or Timberman have literally become a phenomenon in the last year. Because people and passionate gamers like primitive graphics and simple processing with long gameplay. So it's no wonder that many developers are trying to come up with something new and catchy in this style.

The developers from the Tapinator studio are seasoned matadors, and dozens of games that have passed through their hands can be found in the App Store. Now they're trying it with the knight adventure game Combo Quest, which was immediately selected as an app of the week and is thus free to download.

Combo Quest is a simple adventure game where you, in the role of a knight, try to mow down all the enemies that come your way. All you need is one finger and a pinch of concentration. The principle of the game is to hit the colored cubes with your handle, which fly and travel along the bottom bar in different ways. If you succeed, the knight will attack the enemy and logically take their lives.

On the bottom bar, you will encounter three basic dice: yellow for attack, green for strong attack, and red for defense. There are also some special dice and attacks here and there, including various special combos, and after each enemy you defeat you can also choose what you want to upgrade or increase. For example, you can replenish valuable lives or increase the minimum or maximum attack. The various special attacks, which are charged according to your success and actions, are no exception. The method of maintaining a full life all the time has worked for me personally.

The principle of Combo Quest is of course to get as far as possible. If you die, you start all over again. The game also contains a minor story where you have to find the Combo crown that was stolen from the kingdom. There are also smaller bosses waiting for you at the end of each round and you will encounter many different monsters on your way.

All it takes is a little attention and concentration to win. I personally didn't do very well in the beginning, but it just takes a little practice and success will come. On the other hand, the game gets tired of the stereotypical environment and game mechanics after a while. The only revival is in-app purchases, for which you can, for example, buy a horse that will move you significantly forward.

You can find Combo Quest in the App Store for free, and you can play the game on all iOS devices. From the point of view of the graphics, it is an eight-bit retro piece that has its own nostalgia, and I firmly believe that there will be passionate players who are looking for similar games.
