Sleepwalking is a sleep disorder that can be very dangerous. Even a guy named Bob, who is the main protagonist in the puzzle game Back to Bed, knows about it. It can be downloaded for free as part of the app of the week in the App Store.

The game is the responsibility of a group of young Danish developers who have been working on the game since 2011. At the beginning, it was just to diversify the resume and fill free time, while the development of this puzzle game grew into a slightly bigger hobby, which took hold thanks to the Kickstarter campaign. When I saw the first trailer and images of the game, I was very excited and thought it would be a similar concept to Monument Valley. Unfortunately, on first launch there was a quick sobering and a hard impact on the ground. The boys had obviously somehow gotten out of hand over the years.

Back to Bed focuses primarily on design and artistic style. It is based on the works of two important artists, MC Escher, a great believer in optical illusions, and Salvador Dalí, who most people know thanks to his painting of a running clock. The themes of both artists are present in practically every round, including the chessboard and the dream world.

However, these elements probably end what makes the game somehow special or significant, since the game concept remains the same in every round. Boy Bob is a sleepwalker and your job is to get him back to his bed safely. For this, you will use Subob, the dog's pet, which comes from Bob's unconscious. So Subob has the role of a guard with whom you have to direct Bob in the direction of the bed.

To do this, you need to correctly place the apple and other objects that will always change Bob's walking trajectory. Very often you will certainly have Bob fall down over the edge, but fortunately his faithful guardian remains in the same place and you only have to think about another location of the apple. In the game you will also use various supporting walls, chimneys or columns. Likewise, the difficulty will increase slightly with each round, and later there will also be a key that Bob must pick up on the way to bed.

As for the controls, here too it is evident that the developers could have paid more attention to it. It happened to me many times that even if I tapped on the board where I want to place an object, Subob put his apple somewhere else completely and Bob fell down on me. In the same way, the elements of optical illusions lose their meaning and could definitely be used better.

The most positive thing about Back to Bed at the moment is the fact that it is completely free to download in the App Store.
