Artificial intelligence is advancing day by day. Some are looking forward to its deeper integration, others are afraid. Google has it in the Pixel 8, Samsung now in the Galaxy S24 series, Apple nowhere yet - that is, in the true sense of the word, because modern smartphones use AI for practically everything. But are Samsung's new features something to envy?

Galaxy AI is a set of several artificial intelligence functions that are integrated directly into the device, the system and the One UI 6.1 superstructure built on Android 14. The South Korean company is betting a lot on them, when it has clear reasons for this - Apple deposed it last year after more than ten years from the throne of the largest smartphone seller. And as hardware innovation stagnates, so does software. If you are wondering how to recognize the texts created by ChatGPT, give it a try AI detector

Translations, summaries and photos

When you listen to what Galaxy AI can do, it sounds impressive. When you see it in designs that work, it appeals to you. But then you try it and... We have the opportunity to test the Galaxy S24+, where Galaxy AI is already integrated. We're coming to his taste, but it's going slowly. You can't sit on your ass, you can live without it.

What do we have here? Phone can translate language in real-time for voice calls. Samsung keyboard can change typing tones and provide spelling suggestions. Translator can handle live translation of conversations. Notes knows automatic formatting, can create summaries, corrections and translations. Answering machine converts recordings into text transcripts and summaries, Internet will offer both summaries and translations. Then here it is Photo editor.

Except for Circle to Search, which is a Google function and is already available for the Pixel 8, in all cases these are Samsung applications in which these AI options work exclusively. Not any notes and any translator, or even WhatsApp. Which is initially very limiting if you use Chrome, for example. It works as an idea and a certain direction, but you have to want to use it, and you don't really have too many reasons to do so yet.

Czech is still missing for the voice functions, even though it is promised. If Apple introduces something like this, we will most likely not get Czech at all. However, the various summaries work very well (also in Czech) and this is the best that Galaxy AI has to offer so far. A long article summarizes it for you in clear and clear bullet points, which can also be done with a photographed recipe, for example. The problem is choosing the content itself, which is tedious and an option Select all not always ideal.

It's pretty wild for photos so far. Few photos are really 100% successful. In addition, even where a deleted/moved object is added, the results are very blurred, so such a function is not really exciting. In addition, you have a watermark in the result. It's still a long way from the Pixels. So it's typical Samsung. Bringing something to market as soon as possible, but not completely catching all the flies. If Apple introduces something similar in iOS 18, which will be released in September, we're sure it will make sense, but Samsung doesn't really need to be too inspired.
