Last night, the Unicode Consortium published the finalized list of new emoticons that will be available for use in customer products later this year. We can now look at the emoticons that will most likely appear in the new version of iOS that Apple will present at this year's WWDC conference. There are 157 emoticons in total, but "only" 77 of them are unique. The rest are color variations based on different skin or hair color. You can view the new emoticons either in the video below or in the attached gallery.

The set of new emoticons called Emoji 11.0 will bring some completely new ideas. Leaving aside the various new hairstyles and color shades, there will be, for example, superhero emoticons (generic, not licensed), new animals (kangaroo, hippopotamus, peacock, etc.), new emoticons depicting food and various ingredients, toys and other small things.

The Emoji 11.0 set is based on the Unicode 11 standard, which will be published in June this year. New emoticons usually arrive on devices during the fall, in this case, when Apple launches a new version of iOS. Over time, the above-mentioned emoticons will also arrive on other devices outside the iOS ecosystem – that is, on macOS or watchOS. Do you like the new emoticons or are they completely stolen?
