New generations of Apple phones always have the same chip. For example, we find A12 Bionic in the iPhone 14, and A13 Bionic in the iPhone 15. It doesn't even matter if it's a mini or Pro Max model. However, interesting information about a potential change has recently surfaced. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made himself heard, according to which Apple will slightly change its strategy this year. Reportedly, only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max should get the expected Apple A14 Bionic chip, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will have to make do with the current version of the A15 Bionic. In reality, however, similar differences have been operating here for years.

The same chip with different parameters

As mentioned above, this change would make it clear to Apple owners that the Pro and Pro Max models are on a completely different level in terms of performance. The current technical specifications do not reflect that much, and in the current generation (iPhone 13) we would only find them in the display and cameras. In fact, even the chips themselves are different. Although they carry the same designation, they are still slightly more powerful in the Pro models, in several ways. For example, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are equipped with an Apple A15 Bionic chip with a quad-core graphics processor, while the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models feature a five-core graphics processor. On the other hand, it is necessary to mention that similar differences appeared for the first time only in last generation. For example, all iPhone 12s have identical chips.

Last year's "thirteens" can therefore easily tell us which direction Apple will take. Considering the mentioned generation with the current forecast from a leading analyst, it is clear that the apple company wants to better differentiate the individual models, thanks to which it will get another opportunity to promote the Pro models.

How the Apple A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 differ

Is this change real?

At the same time, we should approach this information with a grain of salt. We are still six months away from the introduction of the new iPhone 14, during which individual predictions may gradually change. Likewise, we are now hearing about the changes in the area of chips and performance for the first time. But in fact, putting the Apple A16 Bionic chip only in the Pro models would also make sense, especially when we take into account the current situation with the iPhone 13 Pro. But we will have to wait for more detailed information.
