The smartphone market has undergone significant evolution in recent years, which of course also applies to iPhones. Not only the bodies themselves have changed significantly, but above all the chips used, i.e. their performance, displays, and above all the cameras. In recent years, there has been more and more pressure on them, thanks to which we can enjoy better photos and videos practically every year. However, this may not suit everyone.

Camera as a top priority

First of all, we must clearly emphasize that the evolution experienced by smartphone cameras can literally take your breath away. Today's models can take care of surprisingly high-quality images and videos, which retain a credible color rendering and simply look great. Of course, it's not just about that. The lion's share is also carried by other technologies that are only now making additional functions available. Of these, we mean, for example, night mode, sophisticated portrait images, Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion and others. In the same way, manufacturers are still betting on more lenses. While it was once common to use a single (wide-angle) lens, today's iPhone 13 Pro offers an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens.

Of course, the world of video is no exception. When we look again at apple smartphones, at first glance we can notice the possibility of recording HDR video in up to 4K resolution at 60 fps, optical video stabilization with sensor shift, or perhaps such a filming mode that plausibly plays with the depth of field and can so take care of great shots.

Do we even need a camera?

It's definitely a good thing that camera capabilities are constantly moving forward. Thanks to this, in many moments we can just take our mobile phone out of our pocket and take really high-quality pictures or videos without having to carry expensive equipment with us. But on the other hand, there is an interesting question. Do we even need some of these options like a movie mode that is useless to most people in terms of usability? This query is generating extensive discussion on the apple community forums. Some Apple fans would much rather see if Apple, for example, significantly increased the durability of its phones, finally started to pay attention to Siri and the like. But instead they get a camera upgrade that they don't even use that much.

On the other hand, it is necessary to realize that the capabilities of cameras are the absolute alpha and omega in today's smartphone world. Cameras are simply trending right now, so it's no wonder that they are also the primary segment for manufacturers. Apple can't really decide otherwise. As we have already indicated, the entire market is now focused on the capabilities of cameras, so it is necessary to keep up with the competition and not start losing. Do you think the current improvements are spot on, or would you prefer something different?
