Yesterday's news that Apple plans to deploy a new and smaller type of connector for iPhones and iPads caused a lot of buzz. In the end, it turned out that it was only a mention of a new use of the long-established eight-pin Ultra Accessory Connector (UAC) and that no new socket will appear in iPhones.
However, UAC can indicate a lot about the possible deployment of USB-C in iPhones, which was offered in connection with the aggressive deployment of this interface in, for example, new MacBook Pros. However, Lightning is apparently not going anywhere from iPhones. The Ultra Accessory Connector, which was used years ago in cameras, for example, is supposed to facilitate the cooperation of both mentioned interfaces.
USB-C is just getting started, but while it's never expected to appear in iPhones or iPads, it's expected to become standard on at least competing Android phones. And since many of their manufacturers are also going to remove the 3,5 mm jack, following Apple's example, the issue is how the headphones will be connected (if it is not wireless).
And this is where UAC comes into play, which will act as an intermediary between the cables so that the headphones can be connected to a device with Lightning, USB-C, USB-A or just the classic 3,5mm headphone jack. It will of course be necessary to use adapters for this, but UAC conversion will ensure that the sound can be transmitted with any port.
Vlad Savov then on The Verge explains, as this fact relates to the iPhone and USB-C:
Why this is important given the only remaining port in the iPhone is simple: if Apple planned to switch to USB-C in its mobile devices, it wouldn't bother to create a standard for UAC as part of the Made for iPhone program. It would just swap ports.
The situation will certainly no longer be as easy as when the vast majority of devices had a classic headphone jack, and the user did not have to decide which headphones he was currently picking up and which device he was connecting them to. But UAC can at least be a temporary crutch until the wireless headphone market, which Apple definitely bet.
In addition, the following months will most likely show that Apple is not the only one to think the same way. More and more mobile devices are appearing without a headphone jack, as most gamers believe in a wireless future. In this respect, we can only hope that we will finally see wireless charging this year. The need for any port on the iPhone will then be somewhat smaller.
I don't know how healthy wireless charging is, I read something about throwing a chelios in a pub for a few hours to charge something like that, so a migraine from booze will be just a weak concoction ;-).
Otherwise, yes, everything without wires (under the same conditions of use, e.g. charging speed) is great and you simply don't have to deal with any cables.
Just like at home, I use Wifi and Bluetooth (that is, at least its latest LE version ;-) ).
And the brain will be popcorn in no time. A study of what WiFi does to trees was enough for me.
I don't think it would be exactly the same, but how did those Wifi trees fare in the ratings?
When I imagine that in an average block of flats, a person has 20 Wifis within reach, and I'm only talking about the visible ones ;-).
no way... it was a hoax. but people who believe everything just because someone wrote it, that sezzation is just as catchy
I am studying medicine, the topic was mentioned in the biophysics lecture. I don't know what you mean by "sezzace". I myself try to keep radiation sources as far away from each other as possible in my apartment or at home, only iPhone and iPad, or smart scales, otherwise Apple TV AND Mac via Ethernet are connected to WiFi. There are a lot of negative influences that no one has thought about for a long time, see blue light (which disrupts the natural daily biorhythm and perception of time, or the effect of a mobile phone signal on male potency.
High Voltage Conduction and Link to Leukemia.
If you have a Wi-Fi access point at home, it is already marginal how many devices will connect to it. the main load will be in the access point and not in those connected devices that tend to save energy. But that's OT. the bottom line was that the alleged study was complete nonsense both in terms of methodology and results, and no serious person would give a damn about it. If you're studying, you might want to apply some critical thinking and fact-checking.
Sure, after reading anything, I'm a bit skeptical, because half of people mindlessly describe nonsense, other people don't understand it and interpret it as nonsense, and the last one is the truth ;-).
However, I quite believed the article where the family lived in an apartment above which there was a BTSka (or whatever it was called) right above them (on the roof). The result was that they moved away, due to sleep disorders, etc. It is currently being measured and standards are being created.
However, the overall performance of BTS compared to Wifi is probably many times greater, which probably plays a role.
On the other hand, at the cottage, where there is no Wi-Fi and only a weak mobile signal, I sleep really well :-).
Thank you for the information, I think the lecturer mentioned it, do you have any more detailed information about it, I would like to read it. :)
so sure, why bother if you can ask someone, but we'll serve it up anyway... but just as a guide out of curiosity... did you learn to use google in the medina and did you hear the word search or data source? ... try, for example, typing "wifi influence on trees" into Google ... the first 10 or so links will give you a fairly decent idea of this nonsense and how it was soon debunked (well, at least in the more decent sources). If they teach you in Medina according to hoaxes and no one can verify it, then talk to us :/
Maybe if you saw the amount of material that needs to be absorbed, you would understand that I can't verify every teacher's statement. I believe that most of the teachers are people in their place and the medical education in our country is one of the best in the world. This topic was only mentioned in passing, I have to say that overall your offensive attitude embarrasses me.
And the dwarves are the absolute worst…
Those monsters are crawling everywhere!
sure, that's the well-known and famous study that the city hall of some unknown Dutch town was supposed to do, where they monitored a sample of several trees for 3 months (that is, the whole 1/4 !!! of the annual cycle), and where they came to a revolutionary conclusion, that it could be WIFI, which causes the monitored trees to drop their leaves earlier... it was also then published (that is, if it was such at all) by well-known hoax servers and a few journalists who did not bother with verification and needed to pay the quota of the written word. What about the fact that the conditions of the alleged study no longer make any sense. What about the fact that no one serious has confirmed it ... someone will catch on to it ... for example, people who believe in chemtrails ... for you it will be irresistible material :)
so after the pub you can throw a forehead on anything and a migraine will be quite likely anyway :) ... if you throw it on the keyboard, you will have a pattern on your forehead as a bonus to the migraine ... :) but give a link to that reading ... I really like it I'll read it anyway ... without being able to rule out any effects on a person lying on the chargers (that's worth the Darwin award in itself), so many things are not made to lie on them for several hours and still do not make any difference during normal use ... an iron switched on at random, for example
Well, sure, why not make life easier for our valued customers, right? A large number of them use headphones. So let's cancel the most widespread connector - jack. And we'll put a reduction on top of that so she has to wear more. Yes, and we will give the black phones a white reduction - to show our attention to detail.
All over the world, all manufacturers use Micro-USB. So we're going to make Lightning so they have to lug around more cables. After all, we won't make it easy for them to use! And again we will make it white and in order to sell it better, we will make it of poor quality and it will be expensive for that.
And now? The most loyal customers already have a lot of accessories with a lightning connector. So what do we do when there is already a universal and perfect universal usb-c standard? Well, of course we'll do something our own way again! And again, we will add some reduction, because the more cables and reduction, the more Addidas!
Is that not enough? So we make a new Macbook, cancel the perfect magsafe connector there and stuff usb-c in there. But we have to add the older USB to the new iPhones, so that the customer has to buy another overpriced cable that can be plugged in at all.
Well…. Think Different.
In my opinion, the creation of Lightning was a step in the right direction. It is significantly more mechanically resistant than both microUSB and USB-C. The only stupid thing is that they didn't release it for general use, but license it in a complicated and expensive way.
Do you think that if they let it be licensed, someone else would start using it? I do not think.
I think so. If only because in 2012, when it was introduced, it was far ahead of other connectors for mobile devices - if nothing else, it was double-sided and didn't have that thin plate with contacts inside that sometimes breaks off.
Yes, compared to micro usb, it has many improvements, but the future usb-c standard was already known then, so it is (in my opinion) unrealistic. But that's just my opinion :)
I'm alluding more to Apple's annoying thing - why would we adopt a standard when we can do it our way and build on it.
The connector chaos was already here. It was a problem even when all the cables were in a drawer next to the computer. Today, we have to carry those adapters in our pockets and laptop bags, and that's even more annoying.
COM1 and COM2 serial ports, LPT parallel port, PS2 port for keyboard and another PS2 port for mouse, RJ45 for network, phone jack for modem. Then came USB and it was a relief for both customers and manufacturers.
The higher transfer speed of the new ports is nice. But in daily life much more than speed, I appreciate a single cable for everything.
Instead of battery life, manufacturers compete with "1 mm thinner device", "1 cm larger diagonal", "a few Mpx better camera", wireless headphones falling from the ears and similar nonsense. In that race with each other, they forgot the needs of the customer.
Since they already canceled the jack and the 8 is supposed to have wireless charging, I'm in favor of canceling Lightning as well - there simply wouldn't be any connector.
jojo, there will be problems with bricklejma devices after updates, which can be revived several times only by cable...
It's about time they did something about it - the cable is useless to me if I don't have the opportunity to connect it to the PC - after switching to iOS10, I was without a phone for a week, I was outside the Czech Republic and when I got a laptop with Win from a friend, it didn't meet the conditions nobody had anywhere for the new iTunes and Mac either - they should make it so that it doesn't happen at all ;) and maybe nowadays it would be possible wirelessly.
Jojo, that's a fact, but honestly, do I really expect a change? Rather, in the case of 'full wireless', I only expect reactions like: 'Have you messed up your device? Bring it to the Store and we'll fix it for you and possibly charge you.'
Crap. It's all just bullshit. The only reason why Apple does not allow usb-c in Ipnone is money. He has full control over Lightning + manufacturers of various accessories pay him license fees. And all this would come with usb-c.
I absolutely agree….
