Many iPhone owners are dealing with the problem of poor battery life. Apple has now discovered that a small percentage of iPhone 5s sold between September 2012 and January 2013 have a more significant battery problem, and has launched a program to replace faulty iPhone 5 batteries for free.
"Devices may suddenly lose battery life or require more frequent charging," Apple said in a statement, adding that the problem only affects a very limited number of iPhone 5s. If your iPhone 5 shows similar symptoms, Apple will replace the battery for free.
But of course you need to first check if your device really falls into the "faulty group" as Apple has clearly outlined which serial numbers may be associated with this problem. On special Apple page just enter your iPhone's serial number to see if you can take advantage of the "iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program".
If your iPhone 5 serial number does not fall among the affected items, you are not entitled to a new battery, but if you had previously had the battery in your iPhone 5 replaced, Apple offers a refund. If your iPhone 5 falls under the exchange program, just visit one of the Czech authorized Apple services. Operators do not participate in this event.
In the United States and China, the exchange program has been running since August 22, in other countries, including the Czech Republic, it starts on August 29.
So be it. I am one of those people with these problems. The iPhone normally turns off at around 30-40% battery. I'm not even talking about the fact that in the winter it turns off even at 60-70% if I use it outside for a while, or it is enough to be around zero. It just doesn't show well, especially the winter. I will definitely have the battery replaced this way.
Well, we're the same, I hope I get a replacement phone :)
but certainly not the whole phone
Yes, it changes the whole phone. I was verifying it now
May I ask in which service did you verify it? So the problem with the battery concerns me...
I also wonder where
I would also be interested in where, because the lady at ITS told me today that it was just a battery
I have exactly the same problem, but I am supposedly not among those who are entitled to it, so great
My iPhone has a battery problem and the serial number matches… I just don't know if they will replace it while I wait or if I will have to buy another iPhone to be on the receiving end…
The Czech service wrote to me that it would take 3-5 working days. They didn't even bother to answer if it was possible to borrow a replacement phone and possibly for what fee. And they also wrote to me that it will be from 29.9. (September)… The fact of level communication.
replacement iPhone? and why did you sell the old one??? because you can't imagine a single day of your life without it :-) I always keep the previous one as a backup... actually I already have two bases :-D
Because keeping approx. 10000 in a drawer is really useless :)..
but for me it's not useless at all, it wasn't even 20 yen. CZK.
since my 4s is constantly "recharged" in the Pioneer XC-HM81, it is not in the loop at all :-). And the charger cost €470
Maybe because I didn't have an iPhone before. And even if, as Venca writes, it is a waste of money to keep so much money in a drawer. It's not about a day without an iPhone... My friend was also promised at the same service that he would get the iPhone back in 3-5 days... And it was a month... Well, a month without a smartphone is already really hard for me.
Services are promised and owners of damaged/broken iPhones are consulted :-D
and so you can "relieve" it if you can't stand it. AND YOU DON'T NEED TO KEEP 10 LITER IN YOUR IPHONE :-(
I'm dealing with that too. They told me it takes a week (and they don't change the battery, they change the whole phone).
Good news. When I manage to buy an iPhone 6, I will have my old one replaced.
Great, I'm there
This is a nice step, but what to do when I already replaced the battery with a new one a month ago. Will someone from apple reimburse me?
If your iPhone 5 serial number does not fall among the affected items, you are not entitled to a new battery, but if you had previously had the battery in your iPhone 5 replaced, Apple offers a refund. …copied from the article above…
I've already replaced it too. I thought of returning the battery and waiting to see if they recognize it or not :-D If the replacement takes 3-5 days, it makes no sense to me :)
Well, that's great, but will it change, for example, Vodafone, from which I bought my iPhone?
It doesn't matter where you bought it. You don't even have to have a mobile phone under warranty. Go to the service center with the invoice and they will exchange it for you (if the serial number falls under the exchange)
I fell into the previous exchange program for a defective on/off button (it almost didn't work for me). I reported low battery life without knowing that I would fall under this program as well. In two working days it was taken care of and they gave me a new mobile phone. The funny thing is that they wrote in the protocol that the battery of the "old" mobile phone was OK.
