Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), he announced, that it is ready to launch a new CarPlay project. This is the integration of iPhone and iOS 7 into infotainment systems in cars and a premiere C will live this week at the Geneva Motor Show.
CarPlay is "designed from the ground up to give drivers an incredible experience when using their iPhones in the car" and is primarily intended for use with the Siri voice assistant. Thanks to the use of voice commands, the driver will not be forced to take his eyes off the road and control the display on the dashboard by touch, although this method of control will of course also work.
CarPlay will allow you to answer incoming calls, dictate text messages or access your music library. An important part of the entire system is, of course, also Apple Maps, which does not lack voice turn-by-turn navigation.
The first vehicles with CarPlay will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show this week and will be branded as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz or Volvo. These three car manufacturers will be followed by Nissan, Peugeot, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, General Motors and Hyundai.
CarPlay will come to iOS 7 in the next update and will only work with iPhones with Lightning ports, i.e. iPhones 5, 5S and 5C. In addition to its own iTunes Radio, Apple will also offer drivers access to alternative music streaming services such as Spotify or Beats Radio.
[do action=”update” date=”3. 2. 18:20″/]Volvo already issued press release confirming that CarPlay is coming to its new XC90 SUV that will be introduced this year. The Swedish automaker, in addition to a video showing how CarPlay fits perfectly into the dashboards of its cars, also revealed several technical details, namely that for now it is only possible to connect an iPhone to the entire system using a Lightning cable, but in the future it should also be possible to pair devices via Wi-Fi.

[do action=”update” date=”3. 2. 21:20″/]After Volvo, Mercedes-Benz also showed how the solution will look in its cars. In the gallery below, we can see the integration of the CarPlay system into Mercedes-Benz C-class cars. However, the German automaker said that it does not intend to support only solutions from Apple, but once Google has its system ready, it will also offer the possibility to connect Android devices to the on-board computer. After all, Volvo has the same plan.

incredible libovka - although the first wave is not for everyone (ferrari, mercedes) except volvo, in the second wave it's more interesting and achievable :-) a really great idea and I hope that a siri who speaks Czech will appear soon so that he can chat :D
he forgot about the road, Siri has problems speaking even English dialects .. loosely speaking .. take it with humor, but in the 21st century it might not be a problem to know at least a little more widespread language than the road, don't you think? Then you stop saying that Siri or whatever is not in Czech..

Damn where is the audi????!!!!
Audi is a member of an alliance that will do roughly the same thing, but on Android. Along with Honda, GM and Hyundai. http://www.openautoalliance.net/
so the whole VAG will be on Android? to start looking for another car :(
it won't do the same, the same has been around for years….unfortunately apple has made a statement that they won't support the solution others are using and will make their own….. so VAG won't be on android but on all other platforms that currently exist . Maybe apple will join, maybe not, it depends on its level of independence :) but again it's from their point of view, we won't use a global standard that is debugged in terms of safety and functionality within a large number of car manufacturers, we are the standard we will make our own solution ……
Yes, Audi has disappointed, and by a lot. Not that I need a new car, but still :/
Kia was also at the Keynote and it was nowhere?
Since Kia is the same car manufacturer as Hyundai, it will be the same for both brands...
Well, look, maybe the new XC90 will come with something that I didn't even expect and that fits well into the apple ecosystem :-)
The only question is when the new XC90 will be.
I asked the seller on Thursday - it should be introduced in autumn, available in spring 2015. So it should work.
You have the answer in the article. :)
Well, it's in... ! I can forget about the road! Long live Apple and its road support. I pretend to be a fan and user of Apple products, but I'm afraid of this.
what sense would it make for Apple to tear the Czech language there? we are practically a zero market for them. in addition, Czechs hear Škoda, which for other markets is a car for the lower class. so from the point of view of apple and the car companies themselves, it is completely pointless to spend time and money on the Czech localization for a 10 million market where only a tiny part of the population has a new car in which this could appear and it is not worth it for them to put it into Škoda cars. max as additional equipment and it will still be at least 50 tac.
Again the dogma about a small mini micro nano market, alas, again :( For example, a comparison with the EU - http://www.julda.cz/2009/11/clenske-staty-eu-zeme-evropske-unie/
and what did you mean by that? Has some EU state that is it comparable to the CR language localization of SIRI? There is no…
It's not about market size at all, it's about buying ability and willingness to spend APPLE money on crap!! And I think the Czech Republic is at the top - it would be interesting to see the total from our 3 OPÚ - I mean the % expressing the number of iPhones in their networks...
what the hell is this? of course, first and foremost is the size of the market. even if there was a 100% willingness to buy an apple product here, it is still less than the 15% willingness in Germany or Great Britain.
That's all I hear about Škoda as cars for the lower classes - take a look in Germany, but also in France or Italy - the Octave drives there almost like here.... Why the hell don't I rather buy you a Golf from ??? And in France the P307 and 308 C 4 are the most common cars, no C1 or C3!
Everyone has an iPhone (here and there) = it's not for the upper 10k... So if the arrogant APPLE doesn't have localization for its profits - then it can be stuffed!! I don't understand why Czech geeks continue to argue for corporations as if they were working for them! Apple is an American arrogant company and the fact that some of its products benefit people is great, but that's all. Most of the things they offer are as useless as some Siri in the car.... Unfortunately, we are already so tired that we throw away a lot of money for these misdemeanors = today almost no one knows how to bake a roll, but we solve Apple's crap....
comparing France, where they have their own car companies, Citroen Peugeot and others, makes no sense at all. why should the French buy some Czech store when they have their own cars that are much nicer and for the same money? why should they take money through taxes etc. to a foreign country when the money can be turned around in France? have you ever noticed who drives abroad with those Skodas? female and male. Germans prefer to buy a BMW or an Audi, and if they have really deep pockets, a VW. it's only in CR that people are obsessed with Skoda cars and have a lifetime goal to buy a car. in addition, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Great Britain make up approximately 65% of the entire population of the European Union. so why do the localization for the sullen guilds who buy second-hand goods in bulk anyway from Germany and the surrounding countries?
Apple is after profit like any other company. so why should they try to push car play into low-end cars like the fabia octavka and similar things when it will raise the price of the car by 50t and everyone would rather buy it without it and every car manufacturer would rather include it as an additional equipment? if they can cram it into cars that cost from a million and up, where will the 50 be lost?
I don't really understand why a universal interface isn't proposed and then it doesn't matter what OS it is. The manufacturers have also agreed on the bus in cars.
Because of the application? It depends on who agrees with sky and pays...
Thank you very much for regularly updating the article, good job!
However, it is possible that I will only offer it to the mentioned automakers on American soil.
Why should European automakers only offer cars for Americans? :D the European market should be the first priority
China and America will definitely be the first. they are still the biggest markets.
I find Mercedes-Benz's video solution completely tacky. It's like TV in taxis
and what if I want to use the TomTom application instead of apple maps? according to the video, it looks like there is only a limited selection of icons..
yes, and I have a feeling that Toyota was also mentioned among the brands :)
