If you are one of the regular readers of our magazine, then you have certainly not missed the articles in the last few days, in which we looked together at the things and features we expect from the new products that Apple will soon introduce. Specifically, we will see the performance already on September 14, at the first autumn conference this year. It is practically clear that we will see the introduction of new Apple phones, in addition, the Apple Watch Series 7 and the third generation of the popular AirPods should also arrive. So let's hope that this conference will be really busy and that we have a lot to look forward to. In this article, we will look together at 7 things we expect from the cheaper iPhone 13 or 13 mini. Let's get straight to the point.

A smaller cutout in the display

It's been four years since we saw the introduction of the revolutionary iPhone X. It was this Apple phone in 2017 that determined the direction Apple wanted to take in the field of its own phones. The biggest change was, of course, the design. In particular, we saw an increase in the display and mainly the abandonment of Touch ID, which was replaced by Face ID. Face ID biometric protection is completely unique in the world and so far no other manufacturer has managed to replicate it. But the truth is that since 2017, Face ID has not moved anywhere. Of course, it is a bit faster in the new models, but the cutout in the upper part of the display, in which this technology is hidden, is unnecessarily large for today. We didn't get to see the reduction of the cutout for the iPhone 12, but the good news is that it should already come with the "thirteens". Arrival of new colors

iPhones without the Pro designation are intended for less demanding individuals who do not need professional functions and who do not want to spend more than three tens of thousands of crowns for a smartphone. Since "classic" iPhones can be considered basic, Apple has adapted the colors in which these devices are sold. The iPhone 11 came with a total of six pastel colors, while the iPhone 12 offers six colorful colors, some of which are different. And it is expected that this year we should see more changes in the field of colors. Unfortunately, it is not certain what colors they will be - we will have to wait for some time. Just a reminder, the iPhone 12 (mini) is currently available in white, black, green, blue, purple, and red.

More battery life

In recent weeks, there has been speculation in conjunction with the new iPhones that they might offer a slightly larger battery. It is true that this has been an unfulfilled wish of all supporters of the apple company for a long time. However, if you look at the comparison of the batteries of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12, you will find that Apple has not improved - on the contrary, the capacity of the newer phones is smaller. So let's hope Apple doesn't go down the same path and instead turns around to come up with larger capacity batteries. Personally, I honestly think that it will definitely not be a huge leap, if at all a small one. In the end, however, it is enough for Apple to say during the presentation that this year's "thirteens" will have a longer battery life, and it has won. The Apple company never officially publishes the battery capacity.

Better cameras

In recent years, global phone manufacturers have been constantly competing to offer a better camera, i.e. photo system. Some manufacturers, for example Samsung, play mainly by numbers. This strategy works, of course, because a lens with a resolution of several hundred megapixels really catches everyone's attention. However, the iPhone constantly bets on lenses with a resolution of "only" 12 megapixels, which is definitely not bad. In the end, it doesn't matter how many megapixels the lens has. What matters is the result, in this case in the form of photos and videos, where Apple phones practically dominate. It is absolutely clear that we will see better cameras this year as well. However, the "ordinary" iPhone 13 will certainly still offer only two lenses, instead of the three that will be available on the "Pros".

Faster charging

As far as charging speed is concerned, until recently Apple phones were really far behind the competition. A turning point came with the introduction of the iPhone X, which still had a 5W charging adapter in the package, but you could additionally purchase an 18W adapter that could charge the device up to 30% of battery capacity in 50 minutes. However, since 2017, when the iPhone X was introduced, we haven't seen any improvement in the field of charging, if we don't take into account the increase of 2W. Most of us would definitely like to be able to charge our iPhones a little faster.

A more powerful and economical chip

Chips from Apple are second to none. This is a strong statement, but certainly true. The Californian giant proves it to us practically every single year, if we are talking about A-series chips. With the arrival of each new generation of Apple phones, Apple also deploys new chips that are more powerful and economical year after year. This year we should expect the A15 Bionic chip, which we should specifically expect to see a 20% increase in performance. We will also feel greater economy, as the classic "thirteens" will most likely continue to have an ordinary display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. There was speculation about the possible deployment of the M1 chip, which was used in addition to Macs in the iPad Pro, but this is not a likely scenario.

More storage options

If you look at the current range of storage variants for the iPhone 12 (mini), you will find that 64 GB is available in the base. However, you can also choose the 128 GB and 256 GB variants. This year, we could expect another "jump", as it is very likely that the iPhone 13 Pro will offer storage variants of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. On this occasion, Apple will definitely not want to leave the classic iPhone 13 alone, and hopefully we will see this "jump" in cheaper models as well. On the one hand, 64 GB of storage is not quite enough these days, and on the other hand, storage with a capacity of 128 GB is definitely more attractive. Nowadays, 128 GB of storage can already be considered ideal.
