Again, it went like water - the introduction of new apple operating systems is coming unstoppably. Apple presents the new major versions of its systems every year as part of the WWDC developer conference, which is always held in the summer. This year, we will see the start of the WWDC21 conference already on June 7, i.e. in less than one month. A few days ago we published an article on our magazine with 5 things we would like to see in iOS 15, in this article we will focus on macOS 12. It should be noted that this is a subjective article - so if you have a feature that you would wanted to see in the new macOS, be sure to express your suggestion in the comments.

Fixes, optimizations and fixes again

If someone asked me the one thing I would like to see in a future version of macOS, my answer would be very simple - fixes. Apple releases new operating systems every year, in which new and new functions are constantly appearing. However, the problem is that within one year, the apple company does not have time to optimize and improve these functions. And so all kinds of mistakes are constantly being bought, and it is a common practice that we have to wait quite a few years for the corrections of banalities. I would like it if Apple reduced the interval of releasing new versions of systems to two years, but we probably won't see that. So I would definitely welcome a year dedicated to repairs, as I encounter various errors every day that can affect my functioning.

Time Machine backups to iCloud

The modern world is divided into two groups. In the first group you will find individuals who back up regularly, in the second the rest of the users who think they cannot lose their data. Over time, users from the second group end up in the first group, because some unpleasant thing happens to them that causes data loss. We can back up our data using Time Machine, i.e. using a complete backup from which we can restore our Mac at any time, or the backup can be transferred to another Mac. However, these backups can only be stored on external drives. For a long time now, users have been asking Apple to enable Time Machine backups to iCloud - we have a plan with up to 2 TB of storage available, which could easily accommodate backups.

Deleting and recalling iMessages

With the arrival of macOS 11 Big Sur and iOS 14, we saw a certain redesign of the native Messages app. Finally, we can use, for example, direct replies or mentions, or we can finally set the names and icons of group conversations. But what users have been calling for for a long time, including me, is the ability to delete or recall sent messages within iMessage. It's quite possible that you've accidentally sent a message or picture to the wrong person and ended up in a huge mess. We always send a "peppery" message to the wrong person on purpose. As part of other communication applications, we have the option to delete or recall sent messages, and it would definitely be nice to transfer this function to iMessage as well.

Desktop widgets

As part of iOS and iPadOS 14, we saw a complete redesign of the widgets, which now look much more modern. If you own an iPhone, you can even move widgets directly to the home page between applications - thanks to this, you always have selected information or data in sight. Unfortunately, for some reason, Apple decided to make this option to add to the home page available only on Apple phones. So let's hope that with the arrival of macOS 12, we will also see the possibility of adding widgets to the desktop on our Apple computers. In this way, we could easily follow, for example, information about the weather, stocks or events every time we were on the desktop.

Shortcuts on Mac

Almost two years ago, Apple introduced iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, together with new features that were prayed for. For example, we got a dark mode, but we must not forget the addition of the Shortcuts application. Thanks to this application, you can create a kind of sequence of tasks, which can then be started at any time. A few months later, Apple also added Automations to Shortcuts, which are used to perform certain actions after a certain condition occurs. Personally, I think it would be absolutely perfect if we got the ability to create shortcuts on the Mac as well. Currently, we can already enjoy Shortcuts on iPhone, iPad, and even Apple Watch - hopefully nothing prevents the arrival of Shortcuts on Mac and we will really see it.
