Apple is constantly working on its native apps. Perfect proof of this is the Safari web browser, which has undergone quite a few changes with the arrival of iOS 13. If you actively use Safari, you will find several tips in this article that will make your work in the browser more efficient.

Change the default search engine

Google is automatically set as the default search engine in Safari, but if for some reason you don't like it or you want to try a different one, that's no problem. Just open it Settings, move to Safari and tap on Search engine. Here you have a menu where you can find Google, Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo. I use the last mentioned one and can only recommend it.

Turn on the desktop version of the page

If you browse the web on your phone, all browsers usually automatically load the mobile versions of the pages. In most cases, this is an advantage, but sometimes mobile versions may be deprived of some functions. To load the full version of the page, the respective website open, at the top left, tap on Format options and select an option Full version of the site. Please wait a while for the full version of the website to load.

Automatic form filling

It is not very fun to constantly register on servers or fill in payment card numbers or contact information in e-shops. Safari can make everything easier for you. Go to Settings, choose Safari and tap on Filling. Here turn on switch Use contact details and in part My info select your business card from your contacts, which you should have saved in your contacts. Leave the switch on Credit cards and click the button Saved payment cards, where you can add or remove cards after face or fingerprint authorization.

Automatic closing of panels

When using a web browser frequently, it may happen that you go through several pages and forget to close individual panels. At the moment, however, a relatively common problem is that it is harder to find your way around the huge number of open panels. If you want to automatically close unused panels, open them Settings, move to Safari and click on Close panels. Choose whether you want to close them manually, after a day, a week or a month.

Change download location

With the arrival of iOS and iPadOS 13, you can download very easily in Safari. By default, files are downloaded to iCloud, which is great for syncing between devices, but not ideal if you're low on iCloud space. Open it Settings, move to Safari and then select Downloading. You can choose from iCloud Drive, In My iPhone, or Other, where you can create a folder anywhere on iCloud or on your phone for downloads. Unfortunately, there is no support for other storage such as OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox.
